RL sitrep
Catching up on many post-holiday things. Including a very dirty house. Seriously! Mr Alexander + house + two weeks = I should have thought more about leaving him alone there! Also featured:

- Working with my daughter on her confidence levels. She was described as above average in everything in her yearly school report but there was a mentioning of the fact that she is afraid of making mistakes.. (But jubilation! My baby is clever!) At the moment I am trying to help her to enjoy the fun of doing new things and to see that making mistakes is fun. I am trying my best not to overdo it and at the same time I am worrying madly that may be I am already overdoing it. But she seems to enjoy things we are doing together so I can't be overdoing it too badly. Optimism is the key :D

- Getting back to one's work after two weeks is a bit of a shock. I am not complaining because I love my job to bits but Can I have another week of holidays? Or may be two?

- Everyone around at work is having new babies. I want one too! (Ok, I know it is not a fast procedure but still!)

But even though I am dozing off every evening at 9.00 pm because my body still thinks it is 12.00 pm of Moscow time I watched episode 8 of "The Nine", Turning Point yesterday. This was the start of the second part of this cancelled show (only 13 episodes but all great!) about a group of 9 hostages and 52 hours they spent in the bank stand-off.

I enjoyed this episode very much, it was very tense and full of suspense and unanswered questions like for example (the rest is spoilery) )

Pictures on Nick Cavanaugh played by Tim Daly because he is so manly in everything )

PS "The Nine" is a great show and I am sad that it only has 13 episodes. ** sigh **..

The fifth episode of "All about Eva" "The Nine" (the show about destinies of 9 people after their involvement in the hostage situation) was very good in very many ways. Seriously, at this point in time I can recommend this show to anyone.

+ "The Nine" does not seem to be cutting any corners. No matter how much I want to hear that employers (in general and specifically) purely exist to look after employee's interests, this is not the true state of the matters. The measly compensation of 43000 $ for the death of security guard, hmm, this is THE LIFE!

+ I am getting involved with and starting to feel for MANY characters in this show. I feel connection with the characters in a different way: Detective Nick is just breaking my heart, I feel empathy with teddy-bear-like Lucas Dalton and Malcolm is awesome in his truly good and genuinely strong way. He seems to be an incredibly efficient manager too, oh boy - saving all his e-mail exchange for years!! This is just so anal and fabulous!

+ As I felt from the beginning, this show is about the CHARACTERS, about the things which are going on in people's minds, about consequences of the 52 hours they spent together as hostages. I just find this type of show much more interesting then the show with primary focus on the criminal stories of some kind, like CSI or "Law and Order". (which two are very well made shows, but yours truly never managed to last through any single episode of any variety of them without falling asleep. Disclaimer: This is just ME, may be I am always tired!!)

Below are some screencaps of Nick I have made for [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns , Beware!! Ansgty hotness! Bare feet !! ARMS!!! SWEAT!!! Olive eyes!!!

alexandral: (Supernatural - Dean - pondering)
Supernatural I couldn’t think straight all through “ Children shouldn’t play with dead things” because Dean was sporting some dark blue jacket and it somehow made him even more attractive then usual.. ** sigh **. I made screencaps and now I want to make some icons. Yep, it means I am really getting into this show. And then Dean was opening a little to Sam and that was so sweet. And the episode itself was kind of scary.

Deadwood season 1 Again – not much of non-shallow information, even though I went all crazy and watched episode 1 THREE times. ( I was trying to concentrate hard and understand what is going and I was making screen caps). But – Oh my poor heart! You were melted every other 3 minutes because of some incredibly soft notes in Seth Bullock’s voice. And he is so self-assured at the same time. And Wild Bill Hickok’s eyes are so very blue. But the main thing – PIGS!!!!!!! They eat people!!! This put me off my bacon for a while :).

The Nine, episode 4: Very good episode. The ratings are still low? Why? People just want escapist stories? This is a very very good show!!! My favourite character is Malcolm. And he is awesome. Plus Nick is fitting into my "types" and "ideals" to a tee. Conflicted, cool , composed, commanding. And he has that half smile!!!

Tim Daly as Nick , picspam. Look at all this coolness!! )

+ Because I had some things to do this morning and also because I seem to be having a time of “I want to stop and think for a while” , I have taken a day of holidays today. And now I am trying to be having a Thinking Process and plus to it absorbing any positive things I can find.

+ Here is the first positive thing – last year my husband made me some shelves in the kitchen for my collection of the trailing house plants. I am so very proud of the way the plants have been growing (and almost all of them started from the tiny little cuttings) that I have made a picture and here it is:

+ From [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns recommendation I am watching “The Nine” - an investigation into the characters and destinies of nine people involved in the hostage situation. I have watched episode two yesterday and everything is really getting interesting, involving consequences to the human psychology, Stockholm syndrome, different shades of gray and what else – EEEEEEE! TIM DALY IS HOT! (yes, definitely, QoT!!!) And he has a fabulous OTP with exquisite Kim Raver.

+ I have watched the first episode of Japanese drama "Tatta Hitotsu no Koi" or "Just one love". It must be just me, but with the abundance of Japanese titles I am watching recently I desperately want to learn some of Japanese. Bad luck is that I am so bad at languages. :) My first thoughts on "Just one love" – I must watch some more. I still can't fully understand/accept the type of beauty that Kame has, but he is very good at acting and the combination of his vulnerability and outward roughness is amazing.

+ I am still dying of love for Korean drama "A love to kill" and Rain/Kang Bokgu. Honestly, last time I felt this involved was no less then two years ago. I just can't think about anything else. I have been listening to the brilliant OST from "A love to kill" almost non-stop. Some more about ALTK that I posted in [livejournal.com profile] dorama_chat

+ I spend the good part of my Monday in the Sheffield teaching dentistry hospital. The thing is, I have one tooth which had nerve removed and filling made 17 years ago in Russia. This tooth became a main star of the show on Monday. I had to make x-rays of three different shapes and forms, and then all the students and tutors alike spent about 30 minutes discussing how bad my Russian dentistry work is and saying things like “Oh what are we going to do now??” They decided to let it be for now, but apparently they have not seen anything like it in their entire life. Hee! That was my moment of fame. :)

+ EEEE! Look at this! Because I helped my friend to put her web-site on-line she unexpectedly has sent me this fabulous necklace from Finland! I absolutely adore jewellery and in this sense I am a total magpie who likes all things shiny. And this necklace is lovely and looks very Scandinavian to me! I am so very happy!

Fabulous Scandinavian necklace )

+ I have watched the first episode of "The Nine" Very interesting, but I can’t say more yet. I am definitely going to watch this – in this show there seems to be an attempt made to analyse/understand an effect of the hostage situation on hostages. This is an interesting subject from the start. It could be just me, but I think that in the recent films/shows about the terrorism there is too much emphasis on the terror-makers and their views and too little on the normal people who just happened to be involved in the terrorist attacks/hostage situations.

+ I have found my "Supernatural" love in this season. From the start of season 2 I am feeling very involved. Yes, brothers Winchester are pretty and all sorts of gorgeous and always have been. But there seems to be an improvement in the quality of the episodes and also there seems to be more emphasis made on their character development. Where before brothers seemed to be some sort of cardboard figures they are opening to be more of the interesting human beings now.

To celebrate this, couple of the pictures of Winchester brothers )

+ And I fell in love with the Korea drama "A love to kill", or to say more precisely, with it’s main protagonist Kang Bog-ku (portrayed by the gorgeous Korean star Rain). Some more on A Love to Kill that I posted in [livejournal.com profile] dorama_chat
