I am still watching "Barefoot Youth" and it is a very good drama, but admittedly old (as in dated special effects). The worst thing in my version are subtitles that seem to make little or no sense ,as if they are produced by one of these translating programs. Still - much good to say about the drama itself.
Now I am craving for more Bae Yong Joon - can't he make a new drama? Soon? or will I have to resort to watching "Winter Sonata" anime. :P

Some of the new excellent Bae Yong Joon pictures are out, with two gorgeous DOGS!!! I want the dog on the left , a Siberian husky (?) all for myself.

Big versions of the doggy pictures. I want that one on the left. )

Also! Bae Young Joon and glorious red polo neck sweater. I want one like that too )
alexandral: (Friday Night Lights - bring it)
Oh noes!!!! or OR YES!!!!!?, lovely spectacle-wearing Bae Yong Joon has had a haircut and he is not wearing a pony tail anymore, as you can see on the pictures below. He is photographing Korea's first lady here (she must be a fan).

This must be a good time for his new drama, I think. I hadn't heard any news of any new projects for him so I turned to the golden oldies , namely his first drama "Barefooted Youth". He plays a bad boy who becomes policeman and falls in love with a daughter of a big prosecutor in Seoul. Putting aside BAD FASHIONS of 90s Korea, this sounds like my thing, with plenty of expected hurt/comfort and angst , please see sample screencaps: )

This week (and the one before!) has been rather mad , filled with one thousand and eight different meetings. I am tired as a dog and how to put it? I am a donkey on the edge!!

But all is not lost - I have found some lovely pictures of Bae Yong Yoon. The time has come that I am quite ready for Bae Yong Joon ** gasp ** to cut his hair. I liked his hair long in "Legend" but it could be nice for him to change the image onto something more masculine, even may be with a hint of scruffy. A mafia boss role would be nice too.

But still, he still looks good:

To start morning bright, here are some pictures of Bae Yong Joon. [livejournal.com profile] miss_dian, there might be something you like here (not quite work safe).

My admiration for this guy knows no bounds but the latest pictures of him and his blue cardigan makes me worried:

I need your opinion on this. To participate you don't have to be a fan of Bae Yong Joon or even know who he is. The gender of participants is not important too. (But please be kind – I lurve him :D)

alexandral: (Day Watch - Last Straw)
Friday! So far my week has been spent in organising meetings for the Epic Project and leading them. It all seems to be a roaring success so far but - Do any of you spend much time leading meetings and such? I think you are awesome.

Also today is a day of a sleepover for Sasha's friend which should culminate in swimming pool visit tomorrow. Wish me luck! Other people's child + swimming pool = I am panicking about "What if something happens?" . Fortunately the child in question can swim very well.

Bae Yong Joon pictures
But considering all of the above today is definitely a day to post a collection of pictures of Bae Yong Joon!!

Who has the best profile of ever? (No, this is not a question) )

Bae Yong Joon in a teddy-bear form )

Park Shin Yang

I don't want to make my latest favourite Park Shin Yang (fabulous "Money's Warfare") upset so I post about him a bit too. I have been sneakily checking posts about my favourite actors on Rather snarky blog pop-seul after [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie's rec. I am very relieved they seem to think very highly of Park Shin Yang and "Money's Warfare" (Here:why-korea-cant-stop-yapping-about-money-warfare). He is called to be a top-class actor and "Money's Warfare" (my latest favourite drama) is named to be the latest "thing" in Korea.

Pictures of Park Shin Yang with a teddy-bear. Because he deserved his own teddy-bear too )

I have been tagged by [livejournal.com profile] gws with 20-existential-questions meme. I concur: my answers behind the cut: What kind of person do you think you are? )

20. Do you have an all time favorite song?
"Dance me to the end of love" by Leonard Cohen, with it's everlasting longing and sensuality is my all time favourite song. I have heard it for the first time 12 years ago and no matter how often I listen to it I never get tired. It has almost become an extension of what I am. It is a very personal song, I often say to Mr.Alexander that when we celebrate our 50th anniversary I'll sing it for him. :D

Jack Vettriano created a panting influenced by this song. I like the painting too. :D Jack Vettriano, Dance me to the end of love )

[livejournal.com profile] miss_dian and I are trying to organise a new community on LJ, picturing Bae Yong Joon. I am surprised there isn't one already. :D I have made a banner for the community, but as it is my second banner ever I am not sure how good it is.. [livejournal.com profile] miss_dian, please tell me honestly what you think. This is a first attempt and we can change the banner in the future as often as we like.

And anyone else - if you have a time to look I will appreciate any concrit very much!!!!

Angel, season 3: I have re-started my "Angel" watching. And I immediately remembered why I stopped watching it in the first place. I don't know how everyone liked this but for me the storyline of Angel and Darla having a baby is a bit of no sense. (I am on the episode 3.10 "Dad" at the moment). How did that manage to happen? How did two vampires manage to conceive a human baby? And Why? Why the baby stuff that works so exceptionally well for me in RL doesn't really work that well in TV shows?

And now Angel is running away from everyone AGAIN.I am going to watch through this show as I am very intent on finishing "Angel" but! I hope this is going to be resolved somehow well.

30 days of Night: I remember [livejournal.com profile] nutmeg3 mentioned this film to me a while ago. And YAY! I have watched it! And it didn't disappoint! In the fictional world full of fictional vampires that are in bulk converting into the Tortured Misunderstood Hero Club it is so great to see an old-fashioned Evil to the Core Blood Thirsty vampire. Besides, a well-made visually film is always a half of the win with me. Add to it a decent attempt at the character building in the form of rather hunky Sheriff (by Josh Hartnett) and his rather cool estranged wife (Melissa George) and you get something that made me quite happy! Especially as the film is dipped and rolled in most wonderful and clean snow.

But still, the best thing about this film are the vampires, particular their leader played by Danny Huston. Not an anti-hero as such, but rather a horror-hero, a being truly evil but at the same time possessing personality and power and entirely stealing all the scenes he is in. It is probably the first time I see someone devoid ENTIRELY of any good qualities who doesn't come across as a caricature.

I am Legend : I enjoyed this whilst I watched and it had one of the best movie dogs. I want that doggy to be my doggy. I liked the way the vampire beings were made, especially dogs and rats. I liked the rest of CGI less as it was quite obvious in some parts that everything is just an animated picture, not reality. But wasn't this film just "28 days later" with a nuance? This nuance being Bob Marley – singing Will Smith as the Big American Hero?

And to end on a random note, some pictures of Bae Yong Joon. Swimming. Butterfly Stroke. )
alexandral: (The Legend - the legend)
Korean drama "The Legend" keeps staying with me in a way ASOIF still does. When I am dozing off to sleep I am imagining future scenarios and savouring best moments of the past scenes. I have been trying to recommend it to everyone, even Mr. Alexander who HAD to watch a bit of it with me and agree that "this is good".

Also I am trying to figure out how a UK-based fan like me can meet Bae Yong Joon in person. I think chances of his visiting London are quite low. What is the next best location? USA? I haven't had such a desire to see an actor in person yet. If anyone knows of his close visits anywhere please let me know.

April Snow
This is a film with Bae Yong Joon made in 2005. It wasn't anywhere as good as Bae Yong Joon's previous film Untold Scandal for me but it had some good points, mostly in the cinematography which is laconic, austere and soft at the same time. The story itself have never been my favourite: two people meet after their spouses (involved in an affair) are in a coma after a traffic accident. On a plus side, the film uses snow and light quite creatively and this is so welcome.

Some of the screencaps from April Snow. No spoilers )
alexandral: (ASOIF - Rhaegar)

This is so amazing that I am squeeing and making other incoherent noises. [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore why are you not watching this? It is like a dream wuxia that came true and embodied every perfect and wonderful thing there is. The Second and Third episode (I haven't seen them yet as I don't have subtitles) are reaching the 1st place in the ratings and I absolutely can see why. Fantastic, never seen before special effects + outwordly story+Bae Yong Joon . I think this has a great promise!

Just look at this beauty that my imperfect screencapping can't show in full )
alexandral: (The Painted veil - Kitty playing piano)
Lovely Friday!!!!! And it is even Friday the 13! I am not at all superstitious, but it just feels like some sort of a holiday. :D

My brain is tired from the first week back at work and this is clearly THE time to post pictures of Koren hunk Bae Yong Joon, a star of Korean adaptation of "Dangerous Liaisons", Untold scandal and also Korean dramas "Winter Sonata" and Hotelier

Credits: Most of the pictures are from soompi, user liezle and made by Singapourean photographer Lezlie Kee.
