Ratings mania:

Cinderella's Unni : finished with respectable 23% ratings. No surprises here, the drama is good and family dramas generally make good ratings.

Bad Guy : still 12%. Poor Bad Guy. I think SBS is not treating it fairly: first they try to move the airing date, second they miss Wednesday's episode because of the elections, thirdly, the drama won't have any new episodes on 16-17th of June because of the World Cup. I am personally very obsessed with the World Cup, but still: this sounds like they want to sabotage their own drama! I watched the episode 3 today at the lunchtime and although I liked it ( a lot) , at the end of it I felt as if the story is left half-way. These dramas are meant to be shown 2 episodes a week!

Kim Soo Ro : 9-10% . This is a bit odd for a sageuk. And there are no subtitles to check!

Dong Yi : 26-27%. The ratings are high, but not as high as the ratings of "Chuno" and "Queen Seon Deok".

Tsuki no Koibito : 15-16% (a big nosedive in the ratings since the first episode). This is a bit of an unpleasant surprise, the lowest ratings of Takyua Kimura's drama since .. I don't know when. And just when I was about to start watching it! What is wrong with "Tsuki no Koibito"?????

Edit: Coffee House: 9% . The ratings are low, but they are little better than the ratings of "Worlds Within" (previous drama of this director). I have a whole theory about "Worlds Within": I think it is a drama that closer to Western shows and films than any other drama I have seen. May be this doesn't fare well with Korean public?

Recommendations: A great Chuno write-up by [livejournal.com profile] kittyhawk03 , here.

Help!!!!!!!!! Watchers of "Dong Yi": can you let me know in which episode the pre-story ends? So that I can jump straight to the story? I will appreciate this very much.

This drama is making me happy! A couple of gifs from the epsiode 18 )

Wednesday / Thursday ratings :

Cinderella's sister: 23% : well-deserved!

Bad Guy: 12% : not too bad for the first episode?? Or too low? I am in the middle of the episode 1 (with subtitles) and I think I am OBSESSED. It is no secret I like Kim Nam Gil, but I have also fallen instantaneously in love with Han Ga In's character, Moon Jae In.

I am still loving to ponder over percents :D I am following TNS ratings.

1) "Cinderella's sister" episode 10 achieved 20% ratings. I think "Cinderella's sister" deserves this and so far it has been the best drama of the season. "Cinderella's sister" ratings have increased from 16% to 20% (4% difference) since the first episode, in continuous upward trend. I hope the upward trend will continue, it is a hard battle but it seems "Cinderella's sister" is winning it. Among the strengths of the drama: good writing, storylines involving various ages, Moon Geun Young, Taecyeon's unexpected ability to act, great filming locations (I absolutely adore the farm).

2) "Personal Preference" has stabilized around 13-14% ratings, and the ratings haven't changed too much since the episode 1. The drama is a mess, but not without it's attractions. It has two huge stars in the protagonist roles and they are driving the drama. I am going to catch up on this when it finishes.

3) "Prosecutor Princess": something's gotta give, and it seems that ratings of the few recent episodes of "Prosecutor Princess" continued in a very slow downward turn. I haven't seen any episodes of this drama yet, as the subtitles for this are not very fast, I have decided to watch it when the drama finishes (and when I know how it all ends).

It is getting interesting already!!!! I am a total number geek and nothing makes me happier than analyzing percents. My be programming.

Some of the things are going as predicted, and some are a total surprise.

In order of ratings:
1) Cinderella's Sister is doing the best out of the bunch (with ratings 15-16%). No surprise here , Moon Geun Young is an awesome power. Judging by everyone's posts saying good things about the drama , I think the ratings will go up when the story gets going.

2) Personal Preference is not doing too badly (ratings 11-13%) as well, which is to be expected from a drama employing two huge stars (Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Ho ), but the ratings seem to have dropped 1.5-2 % since the first episode. Hmm, this is not a very good trend which usually means that some of the people who watched the episode 1 didn't like it too much. But this can be a fluctuation as well. Have anyone watched "Personal Preference"? Is it good?

3) Prosecutor Princes: the lowest ratings so far (7-9%), but with an upward trend of 1.5-2%. This is where the 1.5-2% of the viewers who at first preferred to watch "Personal Preference" went. This is a very very promising trend – I hope "Prosecutor Princess" will be an unexpected hit like "Queen of Housewives"!!! EEEEEEE! I cheer for Kim So Yun and Park Shi Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Also, in Monday/Tuesday slot female-centric period drama "Dong Yi" has ratings of 12%. Hmm, not too much at the moment, but the drama is very long and these long dramas often pick up ratings as they go.
