I loved this book. My head is quite light from reading for few hours straight and finishing it in one day but it was so great to have this book-reading binge (and compliment it with a stack of chocolate eclairs) ! YAY holidays! I guess I am still pretty much in love with vampire stories,
meganbmoore! "Twilight" is just another prove that a "beauty and the beast" type of stories is my complete weakness.. Especially when the monster in question is aware who he is and tries to stay away and is protective to a very crazy degree. ** sigh **
This book was totally worthy a strange look I got from a "Waterstones"'s book shop assistant when my daughter and I were buying it (and another book, of course, for her - "The Wind in the Willows" :D). The guy was so clearly calculating in his mind - "HMM, you look a bit too old for this, lady, and your daughter looks too young!." HE-HE!!!!!!
Now, would he remember me tomorrow when I roll in to get the sequels for "Twilight"? I am so tempted to do this as they have "buy one get another half price" sale on children's books (where "Twilight" was surprisingly categorised) and I don't want to wait for these books to be delivered from Amazon..
Just a couple of quick questions:
- Not spoilery: Are the sequels worthy of getting a strange look from the shop assistant again? Are they any good?
- Will Edward turn Bella into a vampire one day???

Date: 2007-10-25 10:59 pm (UTC)I fear I will never be able to get over that enough to read it, it's just...a sparkly vampire...
But yeah, it seems to be getting more and more popular(from what I hear, though, I fear I'd end up shipping Bella and the werewolf)

Date: 2007-10-25 11:18 pm (UTC)We still don't know if Edward will turn Bella into a vampire... but that's the plan, for now. I'm not sure if Stephenie Meyer will give us some twist...
Looks like you're a Edward/Bella shipper eh? Hmmm... I wonder what you'll think of New Moon (the sequel)... ;)

As I am a total rebel at heart I'll most likely to ask if he read it and what he thinks. :D

Ok, now I can hardly wait until tomorrow!

I'm also a Ed/Bella shipper, but I'm not so bothered by Jacob/Bella. I love both Edward and Jacob... will you think it weird if I said that my least liked character is Bella (even though we see the story through her eyes)? I don't identify with her much, so I mainly ship Ed/Bella because I like the possibilities of how the story will develop through this romance and because I want Edward to be happy (even though I love Jacob so and don't want him to be unhappy).
Btw.. I don't know if you like fanart, but I've made some of the Twilight series, and you're welcome to take a look ;) it's over at my community:

Date: 2007-10-25 11:18 pm (UTC)The other two books are quite good but there's a lot of emphasises on Jacob/Bella and a love triangle among the three blah blah

Oh, you are making me rather interested - I liked Jacob a great deal and I may enjoy this particular love triangle!!! ( I am going to read your posts now!! EEEEE! I love your posts! And I wonder whom you were shipping!)

Secondly, the Twilight books aren't bad. Here's (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20049578,00.html) a nice interview with the author and here's (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/) her website.

Date: 2007-10-26 12:25 am (UTC)He-he! I love this!!! My daughter of course already gulped her book - we had a very good afternoon today!
I think my defenses are weakened enough to go back to "Waterstones" first thing tomorrow. I also saw a new book from Minette Walters and I so WANT IT (but it is a hard cover and it costs SO MUCH!!!)
Thank you very much for the recs!!!!!!!

Date: 2007-10-26 11:05 am (UTC)I won't be giving you anymore thoughts on it, at the moment. You'll find them all, neatly folded, at my LJ. You know how bewitched I am while reading this book, a book I considered so overrated before, and here I am, completely under its spell. Edward/Bella just became my one and only OTP, haha, not to mention that I basically am Bella (there are so many similarities between the two of us, that I'll stop counting them!), and that I'm hopelessly in love with Edward.
Also, I'm staying away as much as possible from spoilers, so I'm not going to be able to answer your questions now. But, with the time passing, you'll find my comments, reviews, thoughts, quotes, and hopefully fics, at my journal. The Twilight universe has captured my heart, and guess what? I'm not willing to have it back :)

Date: 2007-10-27 02:37 am (UTC)I have a question for you though, I really haven't been keeping up with my reading, but I finally have some free time on my hands in the upcoming weeks. Is there anything good you'd recommend?

Date: 2007-10-27 01:24 pm (UTC)I really like "Dresden Files" - these are the rare series that seem to be getting better with each book. :D I am always cautious to rec anything but these are probably my favourite books among anything I read recently..
