I loved this book. My head is quite light from reading for few hours straight and finishing it in one day but it was so great to have this book-reading binge (and compliment it with a stack of chocolate eclairs) ! YAY holidays! I guess I am still pretty much in love with vampire stories, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore! "Twilight" is just another prove that a "beauty and the beast" type of stories is my complete weakness.. Especially when the monster in question is aware who he is and tries to stay away and is protective to a very crazy degree. ** sigh **

This book was totally worthy a strange look I got from a "Waterstones"'s book shop assistant when my daughter and I were buying it (and another book, of course, for her - "The Wind in the Willows" :D). The guy was so clearly calculating in his mind - "HMM, you look a bit too old for this, lady, and your daughter looks too young!." HE-HE!!!!!!

Now, would he remember me tomorrow when I roll in to get the sequels for "Twilight"? I am so tempted to do this as they have "buy one get another half price" sale on children's books (where "Twilight" was surprisingly categorised) and I don't want to wait for these books to be delivered from Amazon..

Just a couple of quick questions:

- Not spoilery: Are the sequels worthy of getting a strange look from the shop assistant again? Are they any good?

- Will Edward turn Bella into a vampire one day???

But he SPARKLES!

I fear I will never be able to get over that enough to read it, it's just...a sparkly vampire...

But yeah, it seems to be getting more and more popular(from what I hear, though, I fear I'd end up shipping Bella and the werewolf)

I am desperately trying to find anything in your LJ about this - have you not finished it?? HAve you liked it?? Sparkly thing was played rather nicely but I MAY BE agree on overdoing on a parallel with angels (when I get over my squee about it!).. I think I like young Jacob (if he is the werewolf in question) well enough to ship him with anyone..

Never read it, actually. I've had a lot of people warn me away from it, but I have read up on it(focusing on positive things people say) and can't get over the sparkling.

It is quite insignificant in the large frame of things.. If you didn't mention it I would have probably forgotten about this particular thing.. I guess the fact that you are not keen on "vampires are attractive" cliche is more important. There is quite a lot of it there..

Everyone seems to be reading these and I keep thinking about getting one of them for the next time I have some time to read non work stuff... But I hadn't heard about the sparkling. I am now curious.

Oh, the vampire folk are really beautiful in these series and their skin kinda sparkles under direct sunlight (and this is why they can't show their face outside).

I am guessing that this is one of those things that works better when you read it than when you hear about it. Otherwise, like meganbmoore, I am bit stuck on that they sparkle. I will have to get the book at some point and see for myself.

I just started reading this book! I'm at the part where Edward and Bella are having dinner, after he rescues her from the men in town. I'm quite enjoying it. :D

I loooove Twilight, and in my opinion the books only get better ;) The last, Eclipse, is my favorite! I don't think you should care too much about the shop assistant... if he gives you a weird look again, just mention how you're teenager niece will have a birthday party somewhere nice ;D Hah! (I'm a teenager at heart, so I don't care about weird looks... I read manga, for God's sake!)

We still don't know if Edward will turn Bella into a vampire... but that's the plan, for now. I'm not sure if Stephenie Meyer will give us some twist...

Looks like you're a Edward/Bella shipper eh? Hmmm... I wonder what you'll think of New Moon (the sequel)... ;)

EEEEEE! Thank you very much for the rec! I am an avid Bella/Edward shipper. I usually tend to to ship canon pairings, I am not sure why but I just tend to chose a pair from the beginning which will end up together. (I had my few disappointments - I am looking at you "Little Women"!)

if he gives you a weird look again, just mention how you're teenager niece will have a birthday party somewhere nice

As I am a total rebel at heart I'll most likely to ask if he read it and what he thinks. :D

Ok, now I can hardly wait until tomorrow!

You're welcome! And I'm like that too...! I think the only time I've been disappointed because I rooted for a ship that didn't end up canon was regarding Harry Potter... see, I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper... well, you can't blame me for shipping them, right? It's not like even Ron/Hermione shippers didn't have their doubts :P

I can't wait until you've read it so I can know what you think of it! I'm wait eagerly for your review post, please write one ;D

I'm also a Ed/Bella shipper, but I'm not so bothered by Jacob/Bella. I love both Edward and Jacob... will you think it weird if I said that my least liked character is Bella (even though we see the story through her eyes)? I don't identify with her much, so I mainly ship Ed/Bella because I like the possibilities of how the story will develop through this romance and because I want Edward to be happy (even though I love Jacob so and don't want him to be unhappy).

Btw.. I don't know if you like fanart, but I've made some of the Twilight series, and you're welcome to take a look ;) it's over at my community: [livejournal.com profile] amandiokart [/shameless self-pimping]

I enjoyed the series so far, see my posts here (http://koalathebear.livejournal.com/tag/twilight), but I do think the author should find a logical end and actually end the series at some point.

The other two books are quite good but there's a lot of emphasises on Jacob/Bella and a love triangle among the three blah blah

These are my usual squibbles with anything of serial nature. I find not many of them survive the fact that now logical end is ever reached..

Oh, you are making me rather interested - I liked Jacob a great deal and I may enjoy this particular love triangle!!! ( I am going to read your posts now!! EEEEE! I love your posts! And I wonder whom you were shipping!)

You are never too old or too young for Moley, Ratty, Badger & Toad.

Secondly, the Twilight books aren't bad. Here's (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20049578,00.html) a nice interview with the author and here's (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/) her website.

He-he! I love this!!! My daughter of course already gulped her book - we had a very good afternoon today!

I think my defenses are weakened enough to go back to "Waterstones" first thing tomorrow. I also saw a new book from Minette Walters and I so WANT IT (but it is a hard cover and it costs SO MUCH!!!)

Thank you very much for the recs!!!!!!!

Hm, this series of books will have to be next on my list of books to read. I'm reading Charlaine Harris's vampire series right now. They are kind of like mysteries.

I don't know what it is with me and vampires lately. *g*

I am reading the sequel to "Twilight" now and it seems to be good, but not as good as the first book. (I could not stop thinking of Mick and Beth during the first book, though!!)

First, I couldn't be more happy than after reading this. As perhaps you're already aware, I'm currently reading the first book of the series myself, and I've got 7 more chapters to go until I finish it. I'm quite slow, as I don't own it in printed version (they're not available in Romania), and I'm reading it online. Also, due to my recent work assignments, I had to quit reading it yesterday, but I really need to catch up today, and start the next one asap.

I won't be giving you anymore thoughts on it, at the moment. You'll find them all, neatly folded, at my LJ. You know how bewitched I am while reading this book, a book I considered so overrated before, and here I am, completely under its spell. Edward/Bella just became my one and only OTP, haha, not to mention that I basically am Bella (there are so many similarities between the two of us, that I'll stop counting them!), and that I'm hopelessly in love with Edward.

Also, I'm staying away as much as possible from spoilers, so I'm not going to be able to answer your questions now. But, with the time passing, you'll find my comments, reviews, thoughts, quotes, and hopefully fics, at my journal. The Twilight universe has captured my heart, and guess what? I'm not willing to have it back :)

I have seen your post !!! .. :D As for you, for me the relationship between Edward and Bella will be something I'll never forget. There are flaws in the book but for me it is all about the feeling it gave me. I am reading the second book now but is not as good for me.. (but still good)

From: [identity profile] savepureness.livejournal.com
Well, there are actually a couple of posts, culminating with the last, which has been written earlier today. I'm still head in the clouds after the first book, and I'll start the second tomorrow. Reading them in electronic format does bother my eyes, but it's the only way, so I'll just cope! Anyway ... the magic is never to be forgotten, indeed. This book has shown me that romance is still possible, even in our restless century :)

1. The second book is not bad but not as good
Third book is silly. I never even finished it.

2. Not as of book 3, yet.

Thank you so much, dear! I must agree - I am reading the second book now and it seems not as good as the first one (but still quite good)

While I liked the first one, the second one was a bit iffy for me. I got a little bored with it, and ended up just skimming through some sections. It just got to be too melodramatic in some cases. I can't speak for the third one, because I never got around to reading it X D
I have a question for you though, I really haven't been keeping up with my reading, but I finally have some free time on my hands in the upcoming weeks. Is there anything good you'd recommend?

I am afraid I'll end up skimming the sequels too - they are good but the "magic" is not quite there! Why oh why writers always write sequels!!!

I really like "Dresden Files" - these are the rare series that seem to be getting better with each book. :D I am always cautious to rec anything but these are probably my favourite books among anything I read recently..
