I loved this book. My head is quite light from reading for few hours straight and finishing it in one day but it was so great to have this book-reading binge (and compliment it with a stack of chocolate eclairs) ! YAY holidays! I guess I am still pretty much in love with vampire stories, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore! "Twilight" is just another prove that a "beauty and the beast" type of stories is my complete weakness.. Especially when the monster in question is aware who he is and tries to stay away and is protective to a very crazy degree. ** sigh **

This book was totally worthy a strange look I got from a "Waterstones"'s book shop assistant when my daughter and I were buying it (and another book, of course, for her - "The Wind in the Willows" :D). The guy was so clearly calculating in his mind - "HMM, you look a bit too old for this, lady, and your daughter looks too young!." HE-HE!!!!!!

Now, would he remember me tomorrow when I roll in to get the sequels for "Twilight"? I am so tempted to do this as they have "buy one get another half price" sale on children's books (where "Twilight" was surprisingly categorised) and I don't want to wait for these books to be delivered from Amazon..

Just a couple of quick questions:

- Not spoilery: Are the sequels worthy of getting a strange look from the shop assistant again? Are they any good?

- Will Edward turn Bella into a vampire one day???

Thomas turned out amazingly well give his psychotic and seriously evil family. Thething about him, though, is that he has the suave, polished veneer going, and the "trust me, I mean well," and there's enough sincerity that you want to believe him, but you're too smart to QUITE believe him(Harry never-rightly-trusted him until he knew WHY Thomas always helped him) until he gives you a reason. He has 2 people he loves, Harry and Justine, and he'll move heaven and earth for them(and he'll defend Murphy and another character I won't spoil with his dying breath because of Harry) but beyond that...well, you're just lucky that he tries to act the way Harryand Justine would want. He isn't a "bad boy" in the normal sense, but he's not quite "good" either. If more vampire heroes were like him(or Spike and Angel...there's a reason James Marsters is the fan favorite for Thomas) I'd be much more keen on them.

Oh, this is interesting - I haven't gotten to this point yet. I don't quite see James MAsters as him .. No offense to Spike who is one of my favourite characters but he is not pretty enough..

heh. To heh honest, I don't really see him as Thomas myself...he doesn't have the right kind of "pretty," but I do think he'd do a good job in the role. Thomas is someone who should look about 30, impeccable and devastatingly handsome...women are supposed to just space out when he enters a room and just go to him like moth to a flame(the fools)

The bit I mentioned about Harry and Justine isn't really explicitly stated, just something you kind of figure out. He's actually somewhat straightup heroic in White Night, but even then he doesn't quite have pure motives.

He will fit the role of "reluctant hero" very well, I agree. But it is quite difficult to imagine women spacing on beholding him for a first time.. (before he starts talking, that is!!)

Yes...you have to wait until Marsters talks to get him. Hmm...if we could put his charisma into Orlando Bloom's body, we might have a good Thomas. Maybe. But we probably need someone even prettier.

You know, it may be a good thing the TV series didn't have Thomas. I mean, it'd be hard enough to find someone fairer and almost as tall as Blackthorne(and who could still act) without bringing in the fact that Thomas is also good looking enough to put him in the shade...

BAD, bad thing! :D The show could have survived if all females were drawn to him as butterflies. :D

A very valid point. I'm just thinking of the reactions of the book fans if he didn't live up to expectations...you know, the ones who threw fits about Bob having and incorporeal body, Harry not living in a basement, Murphy not being teeny and blonde, or Morgan being hot and not as vindictive.

I must now ponder the perfect Thomas...

Yep, it seems to be always difficult to appease everyone. I liked the way they made Bob and would have been too difficult to make him fully incorporeal in a TV show..

The Bob thing drives me crazy. As much as I love book!Bob, the simple fact is that you could never have a direct translation of him on normal cable TV. In addition to the fact that most TV actors capable of pulling it off would want their faces to be seen, Bob's mouth would probably get him kicked off scifi.

Yep, I think they did it really good with BOB
