alexandral: (The golden Age - Strength inside)
[personal profile] alexandral
- I am under a pile of enormous workload still but the end is nigh – the due date for the statistical return I am doing at the moment is 30 of September.. YAY!

- But my eyes are still a bit dodgy so I keep as much as possible off computer .

- I have booked stacks of holidays at the end of October and during the Christmas time (when I am going to drink punches near the fire and stay away from the maddening crowd) . YAY!

- It seems that we have reached a "penny drop" moment in doing math with Sasha because she seems to be doing better by the minute. YAY Sasha!

- And even more glee – she is going to start in the H. brass band at the end of October. May be they will give her euphonium? I am so keen on euphoniums! But may be not, it must be bigger than Sasha in size!

- The only thing I have been watching this week was "Buffy" (one must unwind after work :D) season 4 which for me is much much better then season 3. I think this is because though my high school days happened to be in the previous century my University days were not so long ago (1 year to be correct) and I can relate more. I just watched "Buffy Wants Beer" episode yesterday and it cheered me to no end, especially the moment where Buffy hit Parker at the end :D.

- Oh, and I also caught up with "The Legend" or "The story of first King's Four Gods on Tuesday (?). Fabulous story, it seems to have been quite a while since I have seen anything so coherent and well-thought through in Korean drama. I wonder if this is an adaptation?

Yay for Sasha and for the heavy workload to soon be finished. And holidays are always good. :)

As for Buffy - I think season four is very interesting, but season 5 is one of my favourites. Everything seems to come together in S5 - so I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think.

** wipes her brow ** We seem to have managed to get the statistical returns validated today.. YAY!

I am also should be getting Angel soon - squee! (Sorry for low intelligence of my replies - I am brain-dead!)

That's okay. ;) And yay for being finished with heavy workload. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend. :D

And I'm very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Angel.
(all your posts make want to see the series again. It's been quite some time since I last did that.)

I am mostly eating chocolates today and watching a Russian telenovella [livejournal.com profile] dangemousie was so kind to send me, "Bednaya Nastya" .

I hope I don't sound too critical about "Buffy" - I really like it!

Except for what they did with Riley his last few eps, I thought season 5 was the best season of Buffy.

OH!!!!! I am so inpatient to get to the season 5 now that you second!

Season 5 works on so many levels - both with outstanding single episodes, and with the whole season arc. It took me a few eps to get used to Dawn though.

I didn't like what they did with Riley either. I actually liked Riley! He was a decent guy who wasn't, you know, a cursed vampire or some such.

From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
Well...Dawn was supposed to throw us for a loop...and dhe did.

Riley was a good character, he just wasn't a good long term BF for Buffy. I think that if they hadn't immediately set him up as a love interest for Buffy right after Angel left, he would have been much better received(rather like Jo's pre-buzz in Supernatural...)

I also rather like S4 of Buffy, even with it's flaws(like Willow's abrupt change in sexuality...have you reached that point, yet?) I'm also in the minority who likes Riley.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I haven't reached the point of Willow's change but there are some ominous clouds about - Oz sis attracted to some other girl! How crazy!!!

Oh, I really like Riley! That TALL and direct-speaking guy? Bring him any day! I think he and Buffy will go well together! I hope he will not end up a womanizer or a vampire and also that nothing BAD will happen to him - the creators seem not to like Buffy!

I hated how they wrote Oz out, plain and simple. Passionately hated it. It was the kind of write out that was meant to automatically make us open to the idea of her getting a new love interest, imo.

Riley is a lovable doofus. Actually...I kinda wish he and Willow had hooked up. They would have been cute. He will not be a vampire or a womanizer, but I'm not overly fond of what they did with him towards the end, either.

It does seem to be highly unlikely he can get attracted to anyone but Willow, werewolf or not! Hmm, one of my favourite characters!

They would have been cute.

Oh, I saw a spark between them during their first "fateful" meeting in the library too! Please tell me he is not going to die???

Yes. The way they wrote him out...I understood where they were coming from on a storyline front, it just didn't fit Oz as a character at all.

If I hadn't known what was going to happen with him, and had known Oz was leaving, I would have started shipping Riley/Willow right there w/ the library scene...big lovable jock x teeny brainy girl...

Riley doesn't die, I just don't like(possibly dislike even more than Oz's writing out) the storyline they used to write him out. But he comes back in s6 to let us know he's ok and moving on.

You see, no this is near I remember that I also don't particular like Willow's girl friend. Tara? Episodes where I saw her (season 6 I think ) had too much of being always down, down, down and never quite happy. May be there were real reasons for this but I am not convinced!

If I hadn't known what was going to happen with him, and had known Oz was leaving, I would have started shipping Riley/Willow right there w/ the library scene...big lovable jock x teeny brainy girl...

Hee! One of my favourite combinations in height too, you know! But still – Willow looked SO good with rather small but totally devoid of "small man" syndrome Oz. Oh, I am going to weep when he is gone!

Tara was...she was ok, just...really dull, IMO. I liked her and had no issues with her, really, it's just that I never really noticed whether she was there or wasn't there.

I loved Oz for just being so amazingly uncaring and unphased by the weirdness and always being around Angel...or even Xander. I mean, it takes a real man to be so amazingly comfortable with Oz's life...

To start with she wasn't Oz. :P

Sometimes I think that Willow's view was that Oz just didn't care, but I think he rather was one to get on with things and may be bottle it all up. But this didn't mean he wasn't tortured inside. I watched "Wild at heart" episode yesterday and I am so very upset with everything!

"Beer Bad" is so funny and yes so happy when she punched Parker. He so deserved it.

Have you watched "Something Blue" yet? Hee. It's one of my favorites. :D

The way he was trying to seduce Willow - OH! I was so glad Buffy was primal enough to give him just returns. But I was thinking today - Joss Whedon doesn't seem to like beer! :D HUH! Beer as the root of all evil!

I haven't watched "Something Bllue" yet - I just finished "Beer Bad"!

Now that I'm thinking back on season 4 there were some really good episodes in that season. And some of the funnier ones, which I always like. Plus "Hush" is in season 4.

I liked "Wild at heart" very much yesterday but it was one of the most heart-breaking episodes!

Oh yeah, it is heart breaking. Willow always makes me cry buckets. The relationship dynamics among the characters on the show get more serious and intense as the series goes on. The next three episodes aren't quite so sad as "Wild at Heart", if I remember correctly. Some fun stuff happens. Until "Hush" that is.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Oh< i so ready for more serious and intense! I was quite ready to "move on" after all the homecoming queen and prom episodes of the season 3.

Some fun stuff happens. Until "Hush" that is.

I must see it now - I hope Oz doesn't die!

No, Oz doesn't die. Was it OK, to tell you that?

BtVS gets more intense around season 5 and then continues to escalate in intensity all through seasons 6 and 7. It's gets much darker, lets put it that way. They leave high school and their teen years far behind.

I was hoping for some spoilers. :D I haven't left Buffy, no! but I have watched "Angel" mostly. There are many new shows around too...

and it cheered me to no end, especially the moment where Buffy hit Parker at the end
this episode is one of the few things that can make my day when I'm a bit sad or just annoyed, it's so funny :D
I didn't like season 4 very much, mainly because Buffy was a bit weird, like she paid more attention to Riley (who is such a useless character) than to her friends, especially Willow, who really needed her being by her side; but this season has many good moments and it's definitely enjoyable!

Reading about holidays and Christmas time makes me feel the urge for some relax *sigh*

*applause* for your smart Sasha!!

Oh, I quite like Riley - he is so cute and direct-speaking! And TALL! :D About Buffy - I was a bit sorry to see her unhappy again at the start of the season. But at the same time - the love of her life just left her so I guess this was expected. But the story with her room-mate was HILARIOUS!

especially Willow, who really needed her being by her side

I think sometimes we fall into a pattern with friends from which it is hard to get out. I think between WIllow and Buffy the pattern is that Buffy always had these big dramas and WIllow was a listener.

From: [identity profile] teh-haley.livejournal.com
I think you're right about the beginning of the season, we should expect something like that because of the fact that Angel left her... and I must agree with you about her room-mate thing, I laughed a lot because even if there was this demon-thingy, things like that always happen when you try and learn to live with someone else who irritates you :D

Yes!!!!!!! It was so typical, even living with the members of my family whom I love to bits I sometimes feel like that - "Oh why they never tidy their shoes away". So typical!

I'm sorry this is so late. I hope your stat return went well. Yay for upcoming holidays and Sasha doing well in math. :) I haven't got around to checking Legend yet. Hopefully I get a chance to soon. :)

"The Legend" is lovely, I totally rec! I usually watch dramas just for their romance stories and any other story lines are normally so far-fetched in dramas. But "The Legend" is a fabulous historical/mystical drama!

Date: 2007-10-07 09:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com
I tend to watch dramas for romance too. I agree, anything else is usually super boring too. I'll probably wait until it's all out before I check it out. My watching schedule has decreased a lot and I don't think I have time for anything new. :/ If only rl doesn't have to get busy for us to have time to watch dramas as much as we want. ^^

Aww you should rewatch. I watched most of Goong on youtube and really forgot how pretty the actual show is. I realized so many files on jdramas are actually dead so i had to hunt around a bit. :P I've stopped at episode 15 since I have to study now. I really wish there was dramas this cute out this season...
