I am processing the book in quickly-find-the-facts manner, and am dying to discuss

Jaime and Brienne: Well, Mr. Martin, good job you do not have any signing events in the UK because I would have definitely attended and killed you with my bare hands. 6 years of wait, waiting to find out what happens to Brienne, and what do I get? 5 lines in the whole book mentioning her name. Her meeting with Jaime, right at the end of the book where she outright lies to him, telling him that Sansa is with the Hound (which she knows is not true: Brienne doesn't know where Sansa is and she thinks the Hound is dead), although she might be leading Jaime to Lem who is wearing The Hound's helmet now.

Quentyn Martell: And what is it with introducing new interesting characters only to murder them in the same book?

Tyrion: Ok, I got to the place where it is mentioned that The Mad King Aerys fancied Tyrion's mother.

Arya: I must be in complete minority because everyone adores Arya, but I find her sotryline more and more disturbing. Faceless Men and new faces = yikes.

Victarion Greyjoy: Things are developing way TOO SLOW.

Also - Sansa, Sandor, Loras, etc. - not in the book at all , it seems. But I expected this.

Oh, Martin!!!

My heart is breaking that Brienne is betraying Jaime to Undead!Cat. Plus I am so worried for Jaime as there is no way he or anybody else will be able to reason with her. Brienne has turned into quite the liar - who would have thunk it...

On the plus front - Jaime lived through book 5.

Now it's time to knuckle bite over his fate in book 6. Sigh.

To be fair, I think Brienne has a plan, What I am frustrated about is that we haven't learned much new about her fate. Well, apart from her surviving the hanging, but to me that was clear in AFFC . She did shout a word, after all.

I do think Jaime is going to be fine, I always thought so. MArtin does have some logic - he either kills his characters off in one book (Ned,Quentyn), or kills characters that are not really that important (Robb). The characters he cares about he is going to keep.

What did you think of Jon's fate at the end? I'm torn between sobbing and thinking that he'll find a way to survive this in some manner. Well, or at least "survive", and we've seen that some forms of survival or resurrection are horrific. *doesn't want an undead Jon*

I was spoiled for Jon's fate in ADWD some time ago, when the German Spoilers were coming through, so I had time to think.:D

I am sure he is not dead, in some way. It look likely that he could indeed be Azor Ahai, the Prince re-born and might get resurrected by melisandre. However, I did think that Maester Aemon had a strong argument for Azor Ahai to be Dany. But I am sure Jon is going to survive in some shape or form, nothing makes sense otherwise.

However, I am a bit off my Jon love, the guy that plays him in HBO Game of Thrones does not do anything for me.
