(This entry is ranty in parts, I am fulfilling my monthly rant quota :D)

I just checked the soompi forums because I was waiting like mad for "The Painter of the Wind" drama to finish. Soompi forums thread for "The Painter of the wind" is another reason why I don't often venture into soompi forums, unless for the pictures. And it is not even a long thread, but it has it all:

If you think that your fandom or your forums are crazy, how about this, and all in a short 80 pages thread:

- Shipper War with the capital "S", magnified by the fact that one ship is a girl/girl and one ship is a girl/a man considerably older than she, with mutual offensive remarks and offensive remarks to the characters and the actors.

- People insisiting how HORRIBLE the drama is because it is not faithful to the book. I can relate to this very well because I am usually a book purist , especially if I have read it first and liked it. But guys - how about the rest of us who don't have a chance to read the book (in Korean) and like the drama? And why would you want to watch something that you don't like and post in the place where people who DO like it are likely to go? May be a personal blog is the better place for it?

- allegations that SBS (network) is tampering with the official boards

- allegations of name-calling

- conspiracy theories (the director prefers one actor to another and he made the writer to re-write the script!) OH HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE DIRECTOR!

Gosh, it is a good thing that Soompi forums are far from the reach of Fandomwank.

********** Spoilers look away *******

No-one died, but eveyone is alone. Some say it is like "Iljimae". I can live with this and imagine the future developments YAY!

********** Spoilers end ****************

But at the same time soompi is a wonderful resorce for pictures. I found an excellent photoshot of the "The Painter of the "Wind"'s lead, Moon Geun Young:

I wasn't looking too hard, in fact I was trying hard not to look. Also the thread is short, considering it all just 80 pages and all this drama is really in 1 page (it you take the pictures out of it).

I take a chance to rec "The Painter of the Wind" to you, I think you might like. A very very girl-centric drama.

Ahahahaha. If you think it's crazy, check out Easton of Eden threadd. 300+ pages of insanity (btw, I finally gave up on EoE - got bored).

EoE is too much of Korean plot. Did Grace die? I was remotely shipping her and the guy.
AND I CAN IMAGINE WHAT SOOMPI can do with an angsty drama of multiple shippings. I also always scared to venture into the actors' threads. The insanity is so high that I tend to feel sick and this affects my liking for the actors in question.

On the other hand, I am so happy with the recent developments in "The Kingdom of the wind". I am going to catch up on it now that PoW is over.

No, she didn't die. There was lots of angst and she married her fiance. Boo!

EoE is just too darn long. 50 eps plus most likely an extension? I can't pay attention to it for that long!

KotW is just so consistent so far - I love it. Plus, the soompi thread is actually nice.

NOOOOOOO! And I bet the brother number 1 gave up and now has someone else healing his wounds. BOO.

KotW could have been better if it was 16 eps long, or 20, I do quite a bit of FF. But EEEEEEE! Kissing! In a Korean period drama!!! I wonder why it doesn't do so exceptionally well in ratings, though. I long period drama - this usually something that does well in ratings.

Moon is so precious! I snagged some pictures, might make icons of them in the near future. :)

She looks so lovely, plus talented to the bargain . I am v. impressed how she managed to pull off the cross-dressing, much better than Yoon Eun Hye in "Coffee prince" who so clearly was A GIRL that her partner (who was taking her for A BOY) seemed a bit dim. Moon Geun Young really looks like a boy.

I hope to see more films with her.

YAY! Icons!!!!!

For me it was "Ok, i am going to make-believe this", but it was a lovely drama so I let it go. I had a big thing about the secondary guy and his LOVELY voice too.

Eeeeeeeeeeeee! I adore the pics! Thank you! :D MGY is so adorable. It is no wonder that my fave Korean movies have her as leads (Innocent Steps and My Little Bride) ^^ I am a bit disappointed with the ending. I was hoping they would end up together. Hiks hiks.

I feel so ready to watch "My little bride" now. Good ending? I hope she will make more movies.

For me, as long as no-one dies I can think of it as an open ending (if they didn't make a hash of it as in "Powerful Opponents" where you don't know what even to think). I'll see what I think when I see it. :D Apparently she leaves him because he would have been in big trouble otherwise, for his own good or something like this. There are some wonderful scenes in the later eps, like this one:

Oh my!!!! Which ep is that? :D

My Little Bride has the most adorable ending ever. I love it. It's a totally feel good movie. I know you feel a bit irked with the age difference, but trust me, it is not even that noticeable because their relationship (even after marriage) was more like brother and sister, but it blossomed to something more as the girl realises just how important he is to her :)

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Hee I actually don't mind the age difference, I like "doomed" romances of all sorts. Decided, I am watching "My little bride"!

My problem with "Forbidden love" was because I have a thing about under-age children (school age is underage, but 19 as in PoW already isn't) and I think a teacher/pupil relationship should be based on nurturing and responsibility and all such things , but instead - "Forbidden love" starts with sex in the school library and ends up with "THESE RELATIONSHIPS ARE A GOOD THING AND CRUEL SOCIETY SHOULD NOT MAKE IT A CRIMINAL OFFENCE ANYMORE". I think here a mother in me says "WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT? I don't want a sex between a teacher at school and a pupil in her/his care IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY to be a normal thing!!!!!!"

I was a bit afraid how it all going to play in PoW but it is all different and just the way I like. :D

Oh, I am sorry - that is the beginning of the 16th ep.

This is one scene that I love in POTW. So touching yet intimate.

I've also seen the ending of POTW and it left me with an aching feeling. I guess, I was hopelessly rooting for KHD and SYB to be together. At first, I was apprehensive about the PSY and MGY team-up; I felt that it would be awkward. However, I don't mind about the teacher-pupil much, much older man - younger woman) relationship. But I really, really liked how their relationship developed. So, I was kinda sad to see that she left. *still feels that ache*

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I am going to be sad, I think, but I am just going to pretend that she is going to come back when everything settled. Honestly, this thing is just asking for a sequel. D

I also was apprehensive at first but as you I loved it. I think their relationship is one of my favourite ships of ever. I need to make a list. :D

I'm also browsing soompi mainly for pictures, but also for som news snippets concerning my favourite actor.
Most of the time it's just...weird, but as lomg as I can ignore those weird things its alright.

Yep, As long as I squint really hard I don't usually notice anything, well, just only when "I LOVE YOU OPPA" comes along sometimes, all in BIG RED letters.

Ah, I find most fandoms totally off the wall. Scary stuff. They may start out as ok but insanity usually develops at some point. That's why the only one I'm active in is the HH one, it's so comfy. :)

Haven't found time for PotW yet. I think I'll rewatch Resurrection out of the way first.

Yep, I remember how quickly the shipper war started in "Moonlight" fandom. It is most often happens with true love triangle stories, when both ships are strong.

I am watching "Ressurection" and loving it, I have prepared pictures for the post about the lighthouse scene too. Great drama!

I ended up falling terribly in love with "Painter", though, I must update my list. this definitely is going into my top 5.

Yeah, even with faults Resurrection is a very good drama. Just goes to show. I'm watching it mostly for UTW now. Well, I know the plot and love UTW, ha.

I like UTW very miuch too. I just realised that almost all my favourites are not as good-looking as excellent actors and charismatic people, like UTW, PSY. (But I like pretty as any other person :D)

LOL @ soompi fandomwank!

Oh how i'm so glad that no one died!! I'm bit sad that no one got together but that's still better than death. :P

Oh these pictures are adorable and very iconable. I might come back later to make icons of. :P

I also have very bad news about Park Shun Yang being ban from acting in dramas O_O: http://www.hanfever.com/2008/12/05/park-shin-yang-permanently-banned-from-taking-anymore-drama/

More I think more I like the ending - it is not as if they could make the two famous painters to marry if they didn't in RL. LOL.

Moon Geun Young is beyond adorable.

Oh dear, these are bad news, though I am glad it is over a money suit and not something unsavoury. I bet this will blow over in a year or two, and if not - he still can act in films. Explains some of the not so nice things going around about him and (sadly) Moon Geun Young - this could be all arranged. Anyways, I like his acting.

Date: 2008-12-08 08:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] allbloomedout.livejournal.com
LOL, good point. XD I still haven't seen the last two episodes yet. I'm waiting for it to be fully subbed first. :) So i'm not sure how i feel about the ending. I'm glad I won't have to prepare tissues for it though since i was getting myself prepared for YB death. :X

She really is!

Yes, i think it could blow over too. It seems like quite a harsh punishment. Drama in rl is really unnecessary especially the things i've read about MGY during filming. I like his acting too. :)

Now i'm just getting excited for k-hanadan. If only they weren't extending Worlds or else we could get to see it around x-mas GRR. :P Are you planning to watch it?
