(This entry is ranty in parts, I am fulfilling my monthly rant quota :D)

I just checked the soompi forums because I was waiting like mad for "The Painter of the Wind" drama to finish. Soompi forums thread for "The Painter of the wind" is another reason why I don't often venture into soompi forums, unless for the pictures. And it is not even a long thread, but it has it all:

If you think that your fandom or your forums are crazy, how about this, and all in a short 80 pages thread:

- Shipper War with the capital "S", magnified by the fact that one ship is a girl/girl and one ship is a girl/a man considerably older than she, with mutual offensive remarks and offensive remarks to the characters and the actors.

- People insisiting how HORRIBLE the drama is because it is not faithful to the book. I can relate to this very well because I am usually a book purist , especially if I have read it first and liked it. But guys - how about the rest of us who don't have a chance to read the book (in Korean) and like the drama? And why would you want to watch something that you don't like and post in the place where people who DO like it are likely to go? May be a personal blog is the better place for it?

- allegations that SBS (network) is tampering with the official boards

- allegations of name-calling

- conspiracy theories (the director prefers one actor to another and he made the writer to re-write the script!) OH HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE DIRECTOR!

Gosh, it is a good thing that Soompi forums are far from the reach of Fandomwank.

********** Spoilers look away *******

No-one died, but eveyone is alone. Some say it is like "Iljimae". I can live with this and imagine the future developments YAY!

********** Spoilers end ****************

But at the same time soompi is a wonderful resorce for pictures. I found an excellent photoshot of the "The Painter of the "Wind"'s lead, Moon Geun Young:

I have watched the eps 19-20 in parts in viikii, but I'll watch properly when the subs are out.

Yes, i think it could blow over too. It seems like quite a harsh punishment. Drama in rl is really unnecessary especially the things i've read about MGY during filming. I like his acting too. :)

Now I thought more about it this seems really strange - a lawsuit is a lawsuit and whoever wins by law they are right by law, right? For a company to ban an actor for going through lawful means seems to be kind of very strange, if not to say more - unlawful. Even if he takes big money from then. It is strange that in Korea monopolistic companies are allowed to do anything they want and there is no law. Very strange.

I can't get to excited about Hanadan anymore, sorry. I have seen this so many times that I seem to remember every single aspect of it. The guys look nice, though.

I'm sorry for being so late!

I saw them on viikii as well. I think it was a good bittersweet ending. :) I'm not bothered that no one ending up together and it's nice that they all lived!

a lawsuit is a lawsuit and whoever wins by law they are right by law, right? Right! I agree it's very strange. I read that many fans are angry for their decision and trying to get them to change their minds.. but i'm not sure if anything will actually happen. This is all so ridiculous!

It's okay :) I can totally understand that. I was hesitant about it as well since Hanadan is perfect to me. They have huge shoes to fill. :P I did read that they changed aspects of the film and included scenes that weren't used in jdrama version. Mostly I'm curious the kdrama spin on it and I have a crush on korean Rui already since I was watching his variety show. XD

I hope the lawsuit blows over, this is such an unfair monopolistic decision. If they didn't have a well-thought-through contract for "Money's Warfare" (have you watched this, BTW? It is excellent! Though it has 4 unnecessary extended eps causing all this trouble. I think the show was so hugely unexpectedly popular that they decided to extend, but the extended episodes are weird, some kind of alterna-reality) and the actor sued them - well, tough! Shedding crocodile tears about the state of the market and banning him is such a monopolistic decision. In the UK or US, of course, the actor would have sued them again for this and got a win again, but who knows how it all goes in Korea?

I might get tempted by the extended scenes in korean Hanadan. :D
