(This entry is ranty in parts, I am fulfilling my monthly rant quota :D)

I just checked the soompi forums because I was waiting like mad for "The Painter of the Wind" drama to finish. Soompi forums thread for "The Painter of the wind" is another reason why I don't often venture into soompi forums, unless for the pictures. And it is not even a long thread, but it has it all:

If you think that your fandom or your forums are crazy, how about this, and all in a short 80 pages thread:

- Shipper War with the capital "S", magnified by the fact that one ship is a girl/girl and one ship is a girl/a man considerably older than she, with mutual offensive remarks and offensive remarks to the characters and the actors.

- People insisiting how HORRIBLE the drama is because it is not faithful to the book. I can relate to this very well because I am usually a book purist , especially if I have read it first and liked it. But guys - how about the rest of us who don't have a chance to read the book (in Korean) and like the drama? And why would you want to watch something that you don't like and post in the place where people who DO like it are likely to go? May be a personal blog is the better place for it?

- allegations that SBS (network) is tampering with the official boards

- allegations of name-calling

- conspiracy theories (the director prefers one actor to another and he made the writer to re-write the script!) OH HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE DIRECTOR!

Gosh, it is a good thing that Soompi forums are far from the reach of Fandomwank.

********** Spoilers look away *******

No-one died, but eveyone is alone. Some say it is like "Iljimae". I can live with this and imagine the future developments YAY!

********** Spoilers end ****************

But at the same time soompi is a wonderful resorce for pictures. I found an excellent photoshot of the "The Painter of the "Wind"'s lead, Moon Geun Young:

Eeeeeeeeeeeee! I adore the pics! Thank you! :D MGY is so adorable. It is no wonder that my fave Korean movies have her as leads (Innocent Steps and My Little Bride) ^^ I am a bit disappointed with the ending. I was hoping they would end up together. Hiks hiks.

I feel so ready to watch "My little bride" now. Good ending? I hope she will make more movies.

For me, as long as no-one dies I can think of it as an open ending (if they didn't make a hash of it as in "Powerful Opponents" where you don't know what even to think). I'll see what I think when I see it. :D Apparently she leaves him because he would have been in big trouble otherwise, for his own good or something like this. There are some wonderful scenes in the later eps, like this one:

Oh my!!!! Which ep is that? :D

My Little Bride has the most adorable ending ever. I love it. It's a totally feel good movie. I know you feel a bit irked with the age difference, but trust me, it is not even that noticeable because their relationship (even after marriage) was more like brother and sister, but it blossomed to something more as the girl realises just how important he is to her :)

Hee I actually don't mind the age difference, I like "doomed" romances of all sorts. Decided, I am watching "My little bride"!

My problem with "Forbidden love" was because I have a thing about under-age children (school age is underage, but 19 as in PoW already isn't) and I think a teacher/pupil relationship should be based on nurturing and responsibility and all such things , but instead - "Forbidden love" starts with sex in the school library and ends up with "THESE RELATIONSHIPS ARE A GOOD THING AND CRUEL SOCIETY SHOULD NOT MAKE IT A CRIMINAL OFFENCE ANYMORE". I think here a mother in me says "WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT? I don't want a sex between a teacher at school and a pupil in her/his care IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY to be a normal thing!!!!!!"

I was a bit afraid how it all going to play in PoW but it is all different and just the way I like. :D

Oh, I am sorry - that is the beginning of the 16th ep.

Yey! I just love "My Little Bride." It's really good! (Not that you need further convincing)
I don't mind much about age difference too!
I guess that's one reason why I've been attracted to POTW. :)

This is one scene that I love in POTW. So touching yet intimate.

I've also seen the ending of POTW and it left me with an aching feeling. I guess, I was hopelessly rooting for KHD and SYB to be together. At first, I was apprehensive about the PSY and MGY team-up; I felt that it would be awkward. However, I don't mind about the teacher-pupil much, much older man - younger woman) relationship. But I really, really liked how their relationship developed. So, I was kinda sad to see that she left. *still feels that ache*

I am going to be sad, I think, but I am just going to pretend that she is going to come back when everything settled. Honestly, this thing is just asking for a sequel. D

I also was apprehensive at first but as you I loved it. I think their relationship is one of my favourite ships of ever. I need to make a list. :D

You know, I've slept over it but the feeling's the same.
I'm that affected; I need to get it off my chest. Lol.
I would also like to think that she is going back someday.:)
I don't really hate "open ended endings"; but this is one of those times that I'm mad as hell.

I think the difference for me was that I couldn't really see this end happily and be true psychologically. There is no place for a woman like that in that century, so I can easily imagine her disappear, may be to be a "man" again. Also there is a conflict with her being bi-sexual and again, this conflict is not an easy one to sort out in a frame of a drama. If , for example, we just have a happy ending with HKD than we have a question about her feelings for the courtesan left. Also it is not like women were allowed to paint and participate in exibitions in that century so she would have NOT been allowed to continue just the way she was after everyone found out that she is a woman. How about her love for painting then? I think an open ending like this is more beautiful than a forced happy ending that would have left me thinking about all anaswered questions.

But the main thing, of course, is that these are historical figures, and though it is easy to make up stories about who loved whom, it is quite a no-no to make a story about the two famous painters marrying if that didn't happen in the history (hard facts!).

I was fully expecting her to die because of this all, and an open ending is a happy ending for me. And anyways, I like the open endings, I can make up what I want.

I was really that affected because I'm in need of happy endings these days, as in I need them badly. Lol.
I guess, I need to refrain from watching serious dramas at the moment; and focus on comedies. Hah!
Anyway, I've watched the last episode again, not because I was hoping that there might be clues as to what might happen in the future, but to "savor" it again.
And after that, I came to realize that the way it ended was for the best.
I was just acting on impulse; I was dwelling on my first reaction. I forgot that among my friends who are k-drama addicts, I'm the one who loves open endings of star crossed lovers or lovers doomed from the beginning.
Thank you so much for sharing your views. :)

YAY! I am glad you are feeling better about the ending. I love open endings too, the thing I am not keen on recently are tragic endings with everyone dying in the snow and being angsty for hours about because of terminal illness. These things affect me the way you describe - I often feel almost physically tired and ill.

Yes, I'm feeling better. Thank you.
Just a query: Have you seen Beethoven Virus? :)

Not yet, but I was waiting for it to end. Any good? I am spoiled for the ending, though, which seems to be similar to PoW's. One of the reasons I didn't watch was because I really like Jang Geun Suk who again DID'T get the girl. :D

I'm biased coz I'm a Kim Myung Min convert; so I love the series.
The ending is open ended (a reason why I asked if you've seen it).
And yes, Jang Geun Suk didn't get the girl. But his performance was so very touching.

I mught check the drama, I like the dramas about music, like "Long Vacation".

And yes, Jang Geun Suk didn't get the girl. But his performance was so very touching.

I hope he'll get promoted into "The guy who gets the girl" one day. :D
