(This entry is ranty in parts, I am fulfilling my monthly rant quota :D)
I just checked the soompi forums because I was waiting like mad for "The Painter of the Wind" drama to finish. Soompi forums thread for "The Painter of the wind" is another reason why I don't often venture into soompi forums, unless for the pictures. And it is not even a long thread, but it has it all:
If you think that your fandom or your forums are crazy, how about this, and all in a short 80 pages thread:
- Shipper War with the capital "S", magnified by the fact that one ship is a girl/girl and one ship is a girl/a man considerably older than she, with mutual offensive remarks and offensive remarks to the characters and the actors.
- People insisiting how HORRIBLE the drama is because it is not faithful to the book. I can relate to this very well because I am usually a book purist , especially if I have read it first and liked it. But guys - how about the rest of us who don't have a chance to read the book (in Korean) and like the drama? And why would you want to watch something that you don't like and post in the place where people who DO like it are likely to go? May be a personal blog is the better place for it?
- allegations that SBS (network) is tampering with the official boards
- allegations of name-calling
- conspiracy theories (the director prefers one actor to another and he made the writer to re-write the script!) OH HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE DIRECTOR!
Gosh, it is a good thing that Soompi forums are far from the reach of Fandomwank.
********** Spoilers look away *******
No-one died, but eveyone is alone. Some say it is like "Iljimae". I can live with this and imagine the future developments YAY!
********** Spoilers end ****************
But at the same time soompi is a wonderful resorce for pictures. I found an excellent photoshot of the "The Painter of the "Wind"'s lead, Moon Geun Young:

Date: 2008-12-07 07:38 pm (UTC)Ah, you are welcome to the icons. I will be making a fiew more in the near future.
For more UTW you should watch 'Stranger than Paradise'. Another prety good, relatively non-draggy drama and he's as great as ever in it. I like the main guy too, which is another good thing, ha.

Date: 2008-12-08 07:36 pm (UTC)I might check "Stranger than Paradise", the other guy is from "Lawyers.." and it doesn't look like a drama where everyone dies. :D

Date: 2008-12-08 08:10 pm (UTC)Nope, nobody dies and it even has a happy ending, even if UTW is the 'other guy' who doesn't get the girl. ;P It's another great character he's plays though, with a questionable fashion sense, lol. And yet, he manages to work that wardrobe ok. Mindboggling!
I sould be in bed! But I'll leave you with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc2D-gfuvPA Guy can kiss, eh? ;)

Date: 2008-12-09 10:55 pm (UTC)OH, I must ask you for a huge favour - please spoil me for the end of "Ressurrection"???? I am on the ep 6. now and it appears that Gang Joo is such a nice girl and Shin Hyuk really loved her and now I want her to be happy too!! And what happens to Eun Ha???

Date: 2008-12-10 07:54 am (UTC)As for StP.... yes, there is a kiss there too but he does not get the girl. What he does get is a hyung, ha. And that relationship is much more meaningful, imho. As a matter of fact I really like the ups and downs of the relationship with the two guys. In a totally non-slashy way that is.
The Gang Joo/Ha Eun as 'Shin Hyuk' is bit of a sad affair as there really is no-one else for him than Eun Ha. He learns to like Gang Joo a lot too but not in a romatic way. And as the revenge plan goes forward he'll have loads of angst beacuse of the way he has to use Gang Joo and the way he ends up hurting her. You'll see.
Gang Joo is a strong woman so she'll pull through ok. And she also accepts the outcome. I think she is content in the end. The same goes for Eun Ha, she does learn that 'Shin Hyuk' really is Ha Eun and even if the ending is open (he truly can't come back to her the way he is in the end, he has to heal first), she is assured all will be well, given time. I wrote a lenghty re-cap of Resurrection a while back and the last paragraph says it much better than I do here, ha.
Resurrection does explore the themes of revenge and how it affects all the people concerned. It really is rather heartbreaking to see how Ha Eun changes in the course of the story. But as he started out as this good and sweet (adult) guy with years of loving care behind him he did not decend all the way into the darknes like Oh Seung Ha (JJH) of Mawang did. So there's hope for him.
My replies are getting longer and longer! Sorry for hijacking this thread. ;) We should do a Resurrection post to discuss all of this stuff...
