alexandral: (Chuno - Dae Gil sad)
There is no "Bad Guy" today (boooo!) so I had some time for extra surfing and one thought came to my mind; "Oh! What is Jang Hyuk doing?". He was amazing in "Chuno" but disappeared from the the scene straight after the end of the drama, to take part in a Chinese re-make of an old hit, "All about Eve". I found some promo pictures of this, although there are not many about and "All about Eve" is not even listed in Jang Hyuk's Drama Wiki page (I wonder why).

Anyways, the pictures amused me greatly. I like the look of the drama, but even more , I am so amused that Jang Hyuk's character looks like an absolute opposite of Dae Gil. Good bye scruffy sharp-tongued rogue, hello well-groomed sweetie! He has even curled his hair!

PS: Where can i find this drama????????? I want it!!!!!!!!!

Also, in totally unconnected, I WANT this too: Lee Byun Hyun's new film, "I saw the Devil". I have no idea what this is about, but I like the title and I love the picture below, it reminds me of "Bittersweet Life":

Lee Byun Hun is my favourite Korean actor, who is not only exceptionally gorgeous, but also possesses fantastic acting skills. This black-and-white set of pictures I have never seen before.

Warning: this may cause heart palpitations

Story: Following from his break-down after the arrest of a serial killer, former police office Klein is employed to find the disappeared son of a US billionaire.

This is a strange film, worthy of watching but flawed. It touches on some rarely explored themes - deep connection between religious faith and suffering and interpretation of Christianity in Eastern countries. Another interesting aspect is slice-an-dice approach to the narrative sequence that resonates with the serial killer part of the story and soundtrack by Radiohead. Beautiful camera work and excellent performances from two of the biggest Asian stars (Kimura Takuya and Lee Byun Hun) create an atmosphere of art-house movie.

Some of the more noticeable flaws:
-Serial killer stories are very much overdone these days. Serial killers here, serial killers there, serial killers everywhere.

-Overload with Christian imagery. Yes, Christian mythology is one of the themes of the film, but still – crosses of all shapes and forms cropping up in every single frame of the film are a bit too much.

- Kimura Takuya's poor English. He is supposed to be a person who grew up in US but his English is probably the worst in the film. It is barely intelligible. I wish they dubbed his parts with another actor as his otherwise excellent performance loses some of it's credibility over something not very significant.

There also was a big shallow part in all this. I have made some of the screencaps of Lee Byun Hun's scenes. He was rather awesome. )
alexandral: (Generation Kill - Brad - sceptical)
By popular demand and because I love him to bits, let's post some pictures of Lee Byun Hun this Friday! I am very much involved into watching "You're beautiful" at the moment and obsessing over Jang Geun Suk, but this doesn't mean I have forgotten all my other favourites. Not at all. Lee Byun Hun can be seen at the moment in the latest Korean "big drama" phenomena, "Iris" . "IRIS" is a Korean big-budget version of James Bond, crossed with "La femme Nikita", crossed with "Alias", all mixed together and multiplied by ten, with angst, blood, conspiracies, romances, strong mysterious heroines and tortured heroes added. Also everyone wears black and the main guy (that would be Lee Byun Hun) takes his shirt off at least once per episode. The results are – so far this drama is very popular in Korea and has been already bought by few other countries. I am enjoying it too. :D

See!! Lee Byun Hun!!
