Moonlight: episode 5 "Arrested development"

I just have watched episode 5 – OMPH! If there ever was a show that absolutely fit into the "how to bring the most amount of guiltiest pleasure to Alexandral" category this is officially THE ONE. It is even better than any Asian dramas! For one thing, it moves much faster and in the episode 5 we are already having this FANTABULOUS scene:





It is Mick's voice-over again! "May be it's the sum of the million coincidences we don’t quite control that brings us at a particular place at a particular time " Mike drops the car keys – this made me laugh as this happens to me regularly and I can relate.. ;D



"Or may be it's the choices me make, the actions we take"Beth is looking for Mick.



If there is anything I've learned in 85 years is that what we want doesn't always matter" Beth startles him out of the depths of his brooding:



There is not many things that are cuter than this: Mick is re-assuring her that he wasn't lurking or anything, he just dropped his keys!



Beth "You just took off". Mike "You were kinda tied up with your editor". This is his "bad liar" face. He is avoiding her again. Cute, cute, cute!




Beth "You could at least have said 'good bye'". And as Mick starts saying "good bye" she kisses him! This kiss is kind of too fast to decide if it is a proper kiss or "thank you for saving the girl's life" kiss. But poor Mick is done for!





But she is not going to leave him wondering and she kisses him again. Voiceover: "What we want doesn't always matter but again, sometimes it is all that does." Ok, but why did she run away now? Aren't' they going to explore why a vampire/human combination doesn't work in THAT way and if there is a way?




















PS I am left to re-watch it again and again!

PS 2 Josef is back! And he wears black shirts (amd burgundy shirts!)

I did think that he tried to bluff his way out of it, though.. As if he was making it to sound impossible but we'll find out that it really isn't..

I agree. You could tell he didn't want to tell her everything. I think he's holding back a lot of information. I also think Beth is right that something happened when Mick drank Beth's blood and he's not telling her what it is.

Oh, I did pass through the stage where I was sure that Angel and Kate will have something together (and I can see many similarities indeed). But by the time Kate turned very disappointingly bitter (what for? All Angel tried to do was to save people, including her father!).

That's why Kate's mistrust of Angel surprised me so much. But I honestly think they went that route because of Cordelia. They couldn't have the Kate character usurping Cordelia's place on the show. It makes me wonder why they even brought Kate onto the show. They took her character absolutely no where and then she just sort of faded away. They could have done some great stuff with that character. *sigh*

The questions about the nature of vampires seem to be slightly boring in "Moonlight" , but at the same time they are necessary as the ways vampires "work" in each show is different..

The questions may be boring, but they provide an excellent way for Mick and Beth to have many cute scenes together. Plus he's not telling her everything, so there is some mystery there. :)

Next weeks episode is about a drug made from vampire blood. I don't think Mick's wife is going to show up in that ep. Definitely in one of the later one's though. Oh the angst and he's married. I wonder if he will want a divorce? lol.

Oh, INTERESTING!! I haven't picked up on that but I think you must be correct – in "Blood Ties", for example, if a vampire drinks a blood of a human a very strong bond is born..

But I honestly think they went that route because of Cordelia. They couldn't have the Kate character usurping Cordelia's place on the show.

Now you made me think! I think it all went this route after they had to rid of Doyle. He was MEANT to be Cordelia's pairing, I think. But when he had to go they had to make it work and Cordelia's and Kate's characters' futures undergone a bit of change.. I think they tried to make Kate interesting and antagonistic but it didn't work out..(This all of course is my speculation)..

Yes! I think that is what happened with Beth and Mick. They have a connection now. I keep wanting to say enthralled, but he hasn't enthralled her. If the vamps on Moonlight can do that and I think they probably can. that would be another interesting thing to happen.

Oh! You are so right. Doyle's leaving most likely did mess up what they had planned as far as where the relationships were supposed to go on Angel.

I was surprised Mick brought Beth around Josef as well. I don't think there was an ulterior motive to bringing her there though. I think he asked her to come just to use her voice to find the teenage vamp. There must be some kind of unspoken vampire rule where you don't move in on another vampire's....er...."interest". At least among the more civilized vamps.

I really want to know how Mick and Josef met.

I had know idea who Jason Dohring was before Moonlight. I never watched the other show he was on. So at first I wasn't too sure about him. I thought he looked way too young, but now I am really starting to like the Josef character. :)

I think Josef is not as "evil" as he trying to make himself. But I like his impish behaviour too. Could have been interesting to see him getting seriously involved with someone. I think one of my friends was speculating it to be Coraline..

I really liked the season 1 and 2 of "Veronica Mars" where Json Dohring played troubled and brooding Logan. I haven't seen much of season 3 - I watched a couple of first episodes only..
