Dance with Dragons: discussion

I am processing the book in quickly-find-the-facts manner, and am dying to discuss
Jaime and Brienne: Well, Mr. Martin, good job you do not have any signing events in the UK because I would have definitely attended and killed you with my bare hands. 6 years of wait, waiting to find out what happens to Brienne, and what do I get? 5 lines in the whole book mentioning her name. Her meeting with Jaime, right at the end of the book where she outright lies to him, telling him that Sansa is with the Hound (which she knows is not true: Brienne doesn't know where Sansa is and she thinks the Hound is dead), although she might be leading Jaime to Lem who is wearing The Hound's helmet now.
Quentyn Martell: And what is it with introducing new interesting characters only to murder them in the same book?
Tyrion: Ok, I got to the place where it is mentioned that The Mad King Aerys fancied Tyrion's mother.
Arya: I must be in complete minority because everyone adores Arya, but I find her sotryline more and more disturbing. Faceless Men and new faces = yikes.
Victarion Greyjoy: Things are developing way TOO SLOW.
Also - Sansa, Sandor, Loras, etc. - not in the book at all , it seems. But I expected this.
Oh, Martin!!!

Date: 2011-07-20 06:56 pm (UTC)I agree I don't think Brienne would just lead Jaime to die (at least I hope not) but either way they are going to be in some trouble when they turn up in WoW. You just know Brienne won't be able to leave Pod to die for her and then if she doesn't kill Jaime un!Cat will be after them both. D: I'm just so worried for them. But how cute was Jaime when she turned up? Omg <3 I can't believe GRRM couldnt give us a little more of them
I felt bad for Quentyn he seemed really sweet and Dany was so rude and dumb with him.
I loved the epilogue! As much as I try to make myself care about essos and meereen really I want to read about Westeros and that chapter set things up so much. I felt bad for Kevan but I liked Varys showing up. And Pycelle is finally dead lol

Date: 2011-07-21 02:53 pm (UTC)Jaime/Brienne's storyline sets me off on a worrying spree everytime I remember it. On one hand: Martin won't kill anyone behind the scenes. OTOH, if you rememebr, all the major deaths are somehow connected with the issue of honor (Ned, Robb, even Oberyn Martell). In my opinion it can go either way here - Brienne can leave the notions of honour behind and everyone WILL BE FINE, or she might stick with the inflexible notions of honor and everything will end badly.
I am not sure where Dany is going yet, but I want her in Westeros already. :D
