I had decided to do a Spring Clean these long spring holidays. So I did. I cleaned not two, not three, but six days in a row, de-cluttering wardrobes, dusting closets, washing walls and doing all other manner of cleaning things. I have not watched nor did much else, apart from the things I watched in Scotland (Doctor Who number 11 on my iPod whom I loved) and some parts of the Royal Wedding (I am British now). My report from the Royal Wedding is short: the Bride's sister was the best dressed lady and the little bridesmaids were awfully cute.
But I had to watch the third episode of Game of Thrones. I have just few things to say:
- Few new characters were introduced or mentioned in the third episode. I wonder what someone who hasn't read the books is thinking at this point. Are they still managing to keep up with the characters? I certainly had to go back and search the Internet for the genealogical trees of the major Houses, and the timelines of major events.
- No wolves is this episodes, so consequently this wasn't as good episode as the previous one (at least not for me ) . I am especially wondering why we haven't seen Ghost yet, the albino wolf who belongs to Jon Snow.
- I still think that the scenes near the Wall are the best part of the show. The creators did a good job on the Wall and all surroundings. Jon's ride in the "lift" was a fantastic scene. I confess, Jon Snow is growing up on me. He seems to keep his mouth closed in this episode (it must be the cold) and his new moustache suits him. This is an interesting phenomenon: I don't normally like mustaches, and neither I did I like Jon in the episodes 1 and 2. But the combination of Jon and his mustache? This works better for me. Not great, but a bit better.
- Any interesting discussions about the Game of Thrones? Please link me, I have missed everything.
- The problem I am facing personally is that I know the spoilers from reading the books. I find myself inpatient. It will take literally years for the show to get to my favourite parts of the books. Some of my favourite characters won't even appear in this season. And overall, the first book is my least favourite of the series. Although the series is full of terrible events, still, in my view, the largest amount of terrible events happens in the first book.
- Remembering my own feelings when I was reading the first book for the first time, I remember liking Arya very much and being less interested in Sansa. But I never disliked Sansa, I could see her point as well as Arya's. Now, after having read the four current books of the series, I find that I am more interested in Sansa than Arya whose storyline became somewhat tangential for me in the later books.
- Even though I always disliked Cersei, I have never disliked her as much as I do in the show. May be I just imagined her as some cold statue, something you can't really hate because who can hate the cold marble. But now, when I see her in flesh and blood, I find her much scarier. She really believes the things she says and doesn't see anything wrong with anything she does. I guess this is what sociopath is? They just not able to perceive the feelings of others?
- Jaime Lannister is very very very good looking.
PS: Swallow the Sun? I am ashamed to admit that I haven't gone further than the episode 20. My apologies, blueocean80. I will catch up.

Date: 2011-05-03 08:49 pm (UTC)It was great! I agree with your comments on editing, BTW. The odd changes between scenes are odd. I wonder if the creators are trying to emulate the POV structure of the books, but personally, it takes me a couple of seconds every time to re-adjust.
Also: Jon Snow kick ass, take names, and look morose. This was awesome!

I often ponder on "what did we do before the Internet?". It certainly makes all things easier.

Date: 2011-05-02 11:58 pm (UTC)Btw, So Yi-hyun, the actress who played Mi-ran in StS was cast in You've fallen for me as the second female lead and guess who's the second male lead (although he totally is first male lead material!)? But my Song Chang-ui! *points to icon* The guy who played Tae-sub on Lib? You have no idea how excited I am now! I had almost no interest in this drama, but now it skyrocketed. Hee. If you want more info,I can link you!

Date: 2011-05-03 08:39 am (UTC)Is that the drama with Jung Yong Hwa ? YAY! I am afraid the secondary leads won't have anything interesting to do, though. This looks like your usual Kdrama setup, with love quadrangle. I prefer when the secondaries have their own OTP, like in "Gloria". Seriously, I rec Gloria to you with my whole heart.;D

Date: 2011-05-03 02:41 pm (UTC)Re: Gloria. I'll watch it. I'm sure. I just...omg, too many things to watch. XD

Date: 2011-05-03 05:06 pm (UTC)I also have seen him in "Golden Bride", I wonder if you have seen this drama.
as to StS, I am going to make an effort and watch the episodes 21 and 22 tonight. Where are you in?

Date: 2011-05-03 06:54 pm (UTC)If you didn't know he could sing, that means you watched the vid JB linked in the article I linked you and omo, those were vids from Werther and while I do like him as that character, I still think he was AWESOME Hedwig. I also love the clips of his latest musical 광화문연가 and ladkfjlsdjfslfd omg! Man, I should vidspam you. There are sooo many vids...ksdfjskgh omg! How did you not know that bout him? I'll just link 2 vids I linked to someone else earlier today. One is from his latest musical and the other is him playing the piano which I MAY have watched the piano one too many times tbh ^^
He can dance! There are better vids for his singing, though
You should watch the vids of the finale for that musical.
Sadly not yet. Golden bride came out while I was starting to watch kdramas and I saw over 50 eps, I panicked and chose my beloved 16-20 trendy dramas. I WILL watch it, though. I'm too much of a fungurl to skip it. Heh
omg I should shut up about scu now. ^^
I'll try to do the same.

Date: 2011-05-03 09:21 pm (UTC)Golden Bride is quite Song Chang Ui - centric. There is a secondary couple but the drama is mostly about the leads. The lead girl was in "Baker king", I don't remember if you like it or not.
I have seen him in "Scale of Provudence" as well, but "Golden Bride" is much better IMHO
I am watching StS ep 21 now. Ji Sun is wearing a black shirt. YUM

Date: 2011-05-03 09:48 pm (UTC)I know. I know. I only recently got over the omg-thats-too-long fear and i definitely going to watch it. I've seen too many pics of him and he looks adorable as usual. *g*
Black shiiiiiiiiirt! Man, you do know which buttons to push!
Sts episodes 21 and 22
Date: 2011-05-03 10:57 pm (UTC)Sts :
-Mi Ran and Ta Hyuk are teaming up? Please please please!Yes! they are!!!! How did I end up to be more interested in the secondary characters? This must be because of So Yi Hyun and Lee Wan.
-Jackson is fighting? I love this
- The parentage is finally revealed to the evil chairman? I am so glad! Finally!
- Jackson and Jung Woo together - what a lovely bromance!
- Jung Woo is kidnapped! This all is very dramatic
- and Jackson teams up with Amy!!!
Re: Sts episodes 21 and 22
Date: 2011-05-04 12:46 am (UTC)-I like that they teamed up but Tae Hyuk.
-LOVE JACKSON!
-YaY! You know what? Idk what happened, but i'm rooting for il-hwa now. I can't see him as the chairman anymore. I mean, I LEGIT teared up when he realized what he had done to Jung-woo and also later, when he went to her burial place. I cried actual tears for a psycho, wth?
-I was about to tell you that I think the ultimate OTP is Jackson/Jung-woo. I mean, come on! Did you see what they said to each other? What they did? This is 100 times more compelling than Jung-woo/Su-hyun
-noooo, it's all a scheme, imho. I can't believe Jung-woo would be such an idiot and face manager Baek alone and unprepared!
RE: Tae-hyuk. He keeps leaving me cold. I mean, I feel sorry for his past, but...he just isn't clicking for me as a character. I should buy that he's so desperate for his dad's approval that he keeps failing cos he puts so many expectations and too much stress on himself but...I just...gah, I can't connect with him. /o\ I like seeing him with Min-ran. I really wish his relationship with Jung-woo was explored more. And yet. I could easily FF his scenes and I wouldn't feel like I was missing out. BOO. I like Lee Wan though.
StS is such a weird show for the pairings, imho. I don't get the primary OTP. It was cute in the beginning, but I just can't get behind it now (unnecessary drama is unnecessary and boring). I also dislike Su-hyun (the whole imma-go-and-fix-everything-by-myself-cos-i'm-on-a-revenge-quest was just idiotic and lazy writing, imho) and Yuri's performance (seriously, I've never been this put-off by a female lead as I am with her. Okay, no, lie. Jandi in BBF was worse, but at least she seemed...alive? Su-hyun just is. So. Blank.). But I do like the other pairings.
Re: Sts episodes 21 and 22
Date: 2011-05-04 12:47 am (UTC)I finished it!!!!!
Date: 2011-05-09 10:28 pm (UTC)I liked the ending, actually. I don't think the second half was as good as the first, but I liked the ending A LOT.
That thing Jung Woo did with manager Baek "I will let myself to be beaten so that I can take revenge on my dad" was WEIRD
I didn't like Tae Hyuk as well. There was an opportunity there but it was never explored. I like that he "paid for his sins" at the end. This was good.
Loved Mi Ran, even when she left Jackson. I am so glad Jackson and Jung Woo are going to work with her.
Sung Yu Ri - I am so with you. I thought I disliked her in Hong Gil Dong because she had such a problematic role. but NO I jusst don't like her. She is wooden. She is only second in wood-like qualities to Jandi. :D
I loved Jackson and amy, though. But their ending was a bit anti-climatic for me.
Re: I finished it!!!!!
Date: 2011-05-10 01:58 am (UTC)Yeah, it was
I'm going to forget Lee Wan was even in StS cos that would only make him a disservice.
I had to drop HGD cos it was too slapstick comedy for me (they lost me with the umpteenth lame joke and the girl-pees-in-the-lake-and-gets-candies-all-soaked bit and eww) but I'm starting to think it SYR has something to do with me dropping HGD.
Yeah, for me too, but hey, at least they got together? I did rejoice when Jackson punched Manager Beak though.
Re: I finished it!!!!!
Date: 2011-05-10 11:59 am (UTC)The original OTP was really good. I wish Jung Woo's mum was still alive and could have a re-union with Il-hwa
The lame jokes about "stupid girl" was one of the main reason why I didn't like HGD (what is with Kdrama and female stupidity as a virtue? My feminist side rises against this). That and the ending which is only second in "What??" factor to "Bad guy".

Date: 2011-05-03 09:04 am (UTC)I am seriously in love with Benjen Stark. He is my first "unexpected" crush of the series. It is such a pity we won't see him for a while.
But fingers crossed, I hope he is still alive.
