alexandral: (Polka will never die)
[personal profile] alexandral
Thank you so much for all your well-wishes, I am back to 100% normal. I have slept, watched "Black and White", "Fringe", and Korean drama "Fly High" (I love love love this drama, may be the best drama I watched in the last three month. More details about "Fly High" here).

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Also I have been watching Canadian show "The Listener". It is quickly becoming my favourite of the season. The premise is similar to the one in "Thoughtcrimes", a 2003 film that actually was a pilot episode of the show that never went ahead: a paramedic Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik) can read your thoughts. He helps to fight crime. This wasn't instantaneous love for me, more of the "Craig Olejnik is pretty I must watch this" phenomena. But slowly the show is catching up with me: it is pretty, it has lovely cast and awesome female characters, it promises interesting backstory developments. It doesn't have boringly silly plots like "The Mentalist" and it doesn't hit any of my annoyance buttons. I like stories about mindreaders.

Reasons to watch The Listener
Reson 1: Craig Olejnik is pretty:

Craig Olejnik is cute:

He was born to wear a cravat. May be he is related to Richard Armitage, for the awesomeness of his profile has no bounds:

Craig Olejnik's eyelashes are long and thoughtful:

He has a great OTP with a no-nonsense female detective (Lisa Marcos)

WHo can rescue anyone any time:

And doesn't believe him:

She is gorgeous:

Also:
1. I love the show's colouring
2. Enis Esmer plays an adorable friend of Toby's
3. Colm Feore plays Toby's suspicious doctor / father figure

In other new, my daughter and I reached the 170 (!!!) episode of Japanese anime "Bleach". I think I have never seen so many episodes of anything.

glad to here that you are feeling better!

Don't you love bleach? I love the vivid colors, drawing style, and the opening/ending songs.

Thank you so much!

I quite adore Bleach. I have crush on dozens of characters, including female ones. :D How far are you in watching "Bleach"?

I've finished season five, or up to episode 5. I must admit though, as much as I like Bleach, a break is required and I skip some episodes. It's such a long anime.

My daughter and I also have breaks from time to time - I might have even dropped it altogether but she keeps wanting to watch it. Some parts are better than others - I was fairly bored through the Bountou arc but Hueco Mundo arc is quite awesome.

I'm glad to see you have recovered. =)

"The Listener" will be airing on NBS starting in June, it has been also picked up by few different countries. Does great in ratings in Italy , if you can trust Wiki.

Thank you ** Are you still watching Bleach?

I'll keep an eye out for it. I might not have cable anymore in the next few months though, woe.

Yes I am! I've finally reached the backlog of eps saved on my DVR. I'm in the middle of the Bount arc. It's pretty boring, but I'll get through it. :)

YAY! Sounds like you are going to be in the Hueco Mundo arc soon - this is so far the best arc I have watched. The filler arcs are pretty boring , though. You can tell that they are not even closely as good as the episodes that follow the manga.

Oh, goodie. I loved Ichigo's fight with Byakuya and have been waiting for it to get exciting again. I watch it in the background while I'm on the internet. Multi-tasking.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
OOOOOOOOO! Byakuya is my biggest crush in Bleach (and I have many). I love his bankai (gosh, this sounds a bit dubious?). Pink Cherry Petals - how awesome is that? The fight between him and Ichigo was awesome.

Date: 2009-05-01 01:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mnemo-syne.livejournal.com
Oh really, the biggest? Heh, I didn't know that. I think he's interesting. Nobody's come close to threatening Ichigo's spot as my favorite, but I still have a lot more to watch. Your daughter's fave, Hitsugaya, is pretty cool too. =D He's smart and I like that a lot. Yoruichi is total girlcrush material.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I lurve Ichigo but he is that strange "he always wins" type of character that I never truly fall in love with. I need something more flawed, like Buyakya or Zaraki or even Ishida. There are some of the characters on the Hollow side (they will appear in the Hueco Mundo arc) that I adore too.

But Ichigo has one of the most impressive bankai states, it must be said.

My daughter's crush on Hitsugaya is so huge it is not even funny. I am not allowed to like him anymore, he is all hers. :D

Yoruichi is total girlcrush material.

Absolutely.

I still laugh at how Ichigo's zanpakto is so HUGE. That's just so teenage boy. I love how he fights so hard. And tells people to shut up when they blather. I like characters that take on more than they should.

I reaaaally want to meet the Hollow characters! Especially Grimmjow. People seem to dig him a lot.

Oh that is so cute! Okay, then I won't like him either. :D

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I fess - Grimmjow (who would not like a real bad boy!) is one of my crushes too. And Ulquiorra (gosh I didn't misspell his name, I must be sad).

Oh that is so cute! Okay, then I won't like him either. :D

Hee! I'll tell her.

Yes, Ulquiorra too! I see lots of cool icons of those two. I usually am a bit partial to bad boys. :D Can't wait till this Bount thing is over. So annoying.

170 is a LOT of episodes to have watched! Even I am only up to 160-something in Prince of Tennis, which is the most of anything for me too.

Have you ever watched the j-drama Tiger and Dragon? I'm watching it now and it's very good.

Date: 2009-05-01 03:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
The green eyes and no-nonsense attitude - I love you, Ulquiorra. I will not get into more spoilery reasons for why I like him. :D

We just started "The New Captain Shusuke Amagai" filler arc, it is not as bad as Bountou. At least we got to see all the captains again. :D

I haven't seen "Tiger and Dragon", but I have heard many good things. I must try it!

That show looks interesting. I might have to hunt it down.

I watched the entire first series of the Naruto anime (220 episodes with 85 filler episodes in the row at the end!) and about 50ish of the second series before I gave up and just started reading the manga.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I am so glad you like. I hope you will like the show!

Gosh, 220 episodes is a lot. But "Bleach" is over 200 episodes long too so I guess eventually we'll be there. It helps when you forwind the beginning and the end songs.

Ah, Kim Nam Jin from 'Prince's First Love'... he's in 'Fly High' that is. :) I'm totally swamped with dramas and will not add anything on The List for the time being. It's hard not to though....

The Listener sounds interesting. It's not shown here as yet but I think I'm going to take a peek...

Oh, I am double-tempted to watch "Prince's first Love" now. He is also in "Ice Girl" but this drama didn't click with me as much as "Fly High" did. I like Korean dramas about arrogant hotties falling for women with children. I must see "Thank you" , I think.

The Listener sounds interesting. It's not shown here as yet but I think I'm going to take a peek.

YAY! I hope you like!

PFL was rather enjoyable, though it's one of those where just about everyone crys at some point. Didn't go as far with it as Winter Sonata though. ;P Had some mighty good kisses as a compensation....

Oh, 'Thank You' is totally up that alley, you know! It's probably the best after-mil-service Jang Hyuk thing I've seen (DaeMang being the best pre-mil-service one, so far anyway. *g*)

OHHHHH! Kissess?? i am so interested. I had a look - the only thing I am not sure is the main guy. I wish Kim Nam Jin played the main guy!

Date: 2009-05-06 06:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] timescout.livejournal.com
Yeah, proper kisses!

Actually, they are both main... sort of. And both quite flawed characters. Kim Nam Jin's Seung Hyun isn't all that likeable all the time either, especially at the beginning. The Prince is a spoilt brat to start with but he grows up. He rather grows on you too. He's darned funny before the waterfalls start. Both guys have major 'daddy issues'. *g*

Date: 2009-05-06 09:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
I am very very very tempted. I have a thing about guys with daddy issues. :D

Date: 2009-05-07 05:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] timescout.livejournal.com
Well, you are in luck as these guys are rather big on 'daddy issues'. ;P They do have real reasons for them issues though.

Thinking back, I feel that the story is just as much about the guys and their relationship as it is about the girl. And they do have more in common than just her as well (something that gets revealed pretty early on). It's a very bumpy relationship considering they really have to learn to get along and co-operate. There's quite a bit of jealousy that has nothing to do with the girl either. I found the undercurrents below the fun parts, the romance and 'your normal k-drama angst' interesting.

What I liked as well was that there were no crazy characters, they were all more or less normal, faulty human beings.

Sorry for the "dramatic" subject line. ;) But I thought I let you know (http://www.beyondhollywood.com/official-nbc-cancels-damian-lewis-life/). I believe sometimes shows get picked up by other (smaller) networks but I think that's a little unlikely.

I'm sad too. While I'm always glad to get more free time when I can stop watching things, it was still a wonderful addition to watching movies and I would've liked to be able to continue watching it.

Regarding your addiction to Korean dramas. I'm getting increasingly worried. Have you thought about joining "Korean Dramas Anonymous". ;)
More seriously, since you're always open to new things, how about learning Korean?

ha-ha. I promise to write about other things too. For example -I watched "Marley and me". TWICE (it just happened). Many tears were shed.

More seriously, since you're always open to new things, how about learning Korean?

I have been looking for Korean courses, but I couldn't find any that could have been convenient. Plus I have few other ideas - I am contemplating doing Masters degree next year. :D

I hope that you know that what I said had nothing at all to do with what you write. I just wanted to tease you a little about your intention to watch 50 episodes of a drama. In Korean. Shortly after you mentioned that you've seen 170 episodes of Japanese anime. :)

I've stopped being surprised about your plans. :) A Master's Degree in what field? Computer Sciences? Or is that an expression about something in general (I'm not very familiar with the specific English ways to acquire knowledge).

Japanese anime doesn't really count :D - this is something I watch together with my daughter. I am trying to give her some expose to different cultures and also I think this is can make her less adverse to watching anything with subs . SO many people here are "afraid" of subs.

Yes, I am thinking of doing Masters in Computers. It is either this or I'll try to go working full-time to pay-off the morgage quickly.
