I saw a trailer for this romantic comedy in
trailer_spot's LJ last year and it caught my attention instantly, there was so much of irresistible adorable chemistry between the two leeds. Today I finally had a chance to watch it and I must say it didn't disappoint. In fact, I am re-watching it immediately, just as soon as I finish this entry. "Prête-moi ta main" is funny, light as a feather , heart-warming without sentimentality and simply delicious. The story is about an old bachelor Luis Costa played by wonderful Alain Chabat (there are many actors I find attractive but there isn't many I want to take home and marry and he is definitely in the second category :D) has a huge, formidable and most hilarious family in a form of a mother and 6 sisters who one day decide that Luis MUST marry. But Luis doesn't want to marry so he hires his friend's sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) to pretend to be his fiancee.
The Costa family is the best on-screen family that I have ever seen, especially the mother. Can you imagine 5 daughters plus 12 granddaughters plus one dog and all in one place and all have a bright personality? And imagine poor Luis and another 4 husbands stuck in the middle of it? I wish to see more of every one of these fabulous actors, and especially I wish to see more of Alain Chabat who without doubt makes this film.
Meet the family!

Luis and Emma

(her music videos are darker than her songs)
yeah, and she did make a marvelous Jane, though that version isn't overall my favorite.

I also would have preferred to have more "romantic" scenes, but again - it is a French film, not a Korean drama.. I also liked Luis' friend, Wladimir Yordanoff? I have a feeling I have seen him somewhere.

Though I know where I've seen Aïssa Maïga. But that's another story. ;D

Oh, where? If it is not a secret?

Date: 2008-12-01 05:16 pm (UTC)You've seen her in Caché. She has a small role. One evening when Binoche and Auteuil have guests for dinner she's one of the guests. She's also in the short film compilation Paris, je t'aime where she play a paramedic.
And I also remember her in Les Poupées russes where she plays a girl-friend of Romain Duris. The two also play the leading roles in L'Âge d'homme... where I once saw a very funny trailer (http://a69.g.akamai.net/n/69/31971/v1/mediaplayer.allocine.fr/nmedia/18/64/13/71/18739823_fa1_hd.flv). I hope I'll be able to see that movie one day or the other.
