I saw a trailer for this romantic comedy in [livejournal.com profile] trailer_spot's LJ last year and it caught my attention instantly, there was so much of irresistible adorable chemistry between the two leeds. Today I finally had a chance to watch it and I must say it didn't disappoint. In fact, I am re-watching it immediately, just as soon as I finish this entry. "Prête-moi ta main" is funny, light as a feather , heart-warming without sentimentality and simply delicious. The story is about an old bachelor Luis Costa played by wonderful Alain Chabat (there are many actors I find attractive but there isn't many I want to take home and marry and he is definitely in the second category :D) has a huge, formidable and most hilarious family in a form of a mother and 6 sisters who one day decide that Luis MUST marry. But Luis doesn't want to marry so he hires his friend's sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) to pretend to be his fiancee.

The Costa family is the best on-screen family that I have ever seen, especially the mother. Can you imagine 5 daughters plus 12 granddaughters plus one dog and all in one place and all have a bright personality? And imagine poor Luis and another 4 husbands stuck in the middle of it? I wish to see more of every one of these fabulous actors, and especially I wish to see more of Alain Chabat who without doubt makes this film.

Meet the family!

I saw this film recently and I adored it! I only wish that Luis would do his own laundry... :D

OOh! I love Charlotte Gainsbourg(have you heard her music?) and have a weakness for French films. Must watch this.

I saw the movie last night. Very nice! I think it could've made the transition towards the end from the comedy part to the "romantic" part a little bit smoother but it was very enjoyable. While a lot seemed familiar it was still very "French". Especially worth mentioning, as you said, the wonderful family, and the two wonderful and unconventional leads Chabat and Gainsbourg.
You may not like to hear it, but I'm surprised we haven't heard yet about a US remake which I think is pretty much inevitable. :)
