OMPH! I was informed by fabulous
the_grynne and fabulous
endlessdeep that the role of Eric is NOT missing from HBO's "True Blood" (TV adaptation of "Southern Vampire" book series). On a contrary, it is played by "all your dreams come true at once" Alexander Skarsgard. Who is Scandinavian, good looking to a crazy degree and 6ft 4 inches tall.

PS: Does anyone know any film he is in? Is he any good at acting?

I don't think this is your cup of tea at all (and believe me, the pilot is few notches more intelligent than the books!).

Date: 2008-07-18 05:40 pm (UTC)well, I watch some pretty crap shows. I mean the only reason I am not watching Gossip Girl is that I refuse to get hooked on another show like it. and I'm not saying this is crap or like that show, it is just that I've never liked Alan Ball's TV, I could not get into to Six Feet Under at all. and I've tried, believe me, I've tried, I did like American Beauty which he wrote(and he went to the same university that I did so I always feel like I should try to support him for some reason)but True Blood? I just can't watch it!

Date: 2008-07-18 05:52 pm (UTC)I haven't seen "Six Feet Under" and I liked "American Beauty". There were definitely flashes of witty dialogue in the pilot of "True Blood" and I liked most of the characters ( I am a fan of Anne Paguin ) .
With films and books - it depends for me. Sometimes I prefer to watch the film prior to reading. I am less bothered by any changes made in this case. The pilot of "True Blood" set me on reading of "Southern Vampire" series which I would give a total miss in different circumstances.

Date: 2008-07-18 06:48 pm (UTC)My thanks again - I was wondering how good the accents are (for some reason they also didn't sound quite right to me, may because I kept remembering "No country for old men" and the accent seemed to be different there). However, Eric's accent will be good as he is supposed to be a Viking, so I am safe. :D

I actually pictured Eric as being a little older. Mid to late 30's and more muscular. But Alexander Skarsgard will do just fine I think. He's very attractive. :)

Date: 2008-07-18 10:15 pm (UTC)I got hooked on the character of Eric-the-Vampire-Sheriff (see the guy above) so I mostly was reading scenes involving him. I don't think you have met him - I think he appears somewhere in the middle of the first book.

Date: 2008-07-19 02:42 am (UTC)And no, I didn't get to the middle, so I have no clue who Eric is. I barely got up to a fifth of the book.
But I have seen the True Blood pilot and think the series will be smutty fun. I am very happy about that.
And I love Anna Paquin, so yay.

Oh, yes! And I still hope it will last long enough to get to the parts where Eric becomes one of the main characters.

Date: 2008-07-20 10:37 am (UTC)Hee! Angel and Buffy lasted 12 years between them! And may be because I am watching them both for the first time now, a few years after the release, I don't find neither of them brilliant. There are good points about these shows but they will never be among my favourites.
