EEEEEEEEE! Happy birthday to
umeedmerchant, my dear friend and someone who is so wise and interesting to talk to! I hope you have a great day you deserve!!!!!!!
And in honour of
umeedmerchant's birthday something I had stashed away for a while - a smallish collection of screencaps featuring Michael K. Williams in "Alias" (aka Omar Little aka small but entertaining role of Roberts) . Hmm, agent Vaughn has found his way into these screencaps too, I don't know how.
BUT OBVIOUSLY - Michael K. Williams says "Happy birthday, umeedmerchant!" on every single screencap. :D

Date: 2008-02-21 11:54 pm (UTC)Let's take a look at the three actresses who played the Derevko sisters:
- Lena Olin, Swedish
- Isabella Rosselini, Italian
- Sonia Braga, Brazilian
What. the. fuck. ?.And please, please explain to me how Lena Olin and Ron Rifkin managed to produce an Argentinian child? How? I mean, those choices were some of the most bizarre casting decisions I've ever seen. They were hilarious to anyone with half a brain... although the plots from third season on (when Abrams got bored with Alias/started on Lost) implied that their audience's IQ dropped dramatically. Sydney erased her own memory? And didn't, for one second, think that a wiped Sydney wouldn't do anything and everything in her power to find out why? What a waste of a season! I did like Melissa George, although I think I'm one of the few. And more Sark time = happy, lusting
Thank you for pointing out the director's creative move. At least they're aware that the accents were bad ;)
I do not watch The Wire! It is something I plan to remedy as I've heard it is certainly the most awesome ever. I just haven't gotten around to it. I see you and
If you insist that it's a horrible shame that I am not firing up The Wire, like, immediately, I might step on it.
Oy. I get inspired the night before a weekend tournament...

To give them credit, Nadya doesn't LOOK that Argentinean. I have a couple of Friends from Brasil and Argentina in RL and they are considerably different looking. She is a dark-haired lady but contrary to popular opinion Russian ladies are in majority dark-haired (blondness of Russian girls is one of the most bizarre cliché's I have ever encountered. TRULY – there are MORE naturally blond people in the UK than in Russia). Nadya was brought up in Argentina but her looks can easily be Russian-like.

I really liked her in "30 days of night" but not in Alias. She was too bland for me. Sark is goooooood in any combination, hoewer.
but The Wire slipped under my radar. Maybe because it takes place in Baltimore, Maryland, which is very immediate and real to my life. (I had an ex who lived in Baltimore and went on a few dates out there.) Perhaps if I pretend it's another city, heh.
NO!! You must watch it and tell us how good they portray Baltimore!!!!!!!!!. I have heard from few good folks of Baltimore (there is a Baltimore community somewhere on LJ ) that the city is portrayed excellently well. YOU MUST! :D

YAY! Good luck!
