Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Dec. 12th, 2006 07:27 pmI have finally watched “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” It was delightful in a good-message plus fantastic special effects and visuals way. Of course I feel a regret that I didn’t take my chance and watched it on IMAX screen when I had an opportunity. I would imagine that Harry Potter movies are spectacular on the HUGE screen. This is my second Harry Potter movie ( “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”) . The formula is winsome – the young and powerful wizard, great friendship, Dark Lord rising. And to repeat, the special effects are to die for.
It does remind me more and more of Ursula LeGuin's "A Wizard of Earthsea", but this is totally said as a compliment, Ursula LeGuin is awesome in every possible way.
The Dark Lord Voldermort is the best part of the film, my applauds to Raulph Fennes. No wonder there are numerous fan sites dedicated to Voldermort around. I guess some actors can take anything and turn it into gold. Seriously, I need and icon of Voldermort, I am going to make a research in
realtanala’s icon journal and see if she has one. (Update: She had a great one!! I have updated my post)
Things I want to ask about:
1. I am used to the cliché way of portraying Western European people. I find it endearing, actually! Hats, half-military suits, dumb, betrayers. Yes, we do wear these hats!! I used to have one just like Victor Krum’s made from mink.
I missed one thing – Victor did try to kill Harry and Cedric in the labyrinth, right? How come Hermione was smiling to him at the end? Harry didn’t tell her what has happened in the labyrinth?
Victor Krum’s hat: (There are hundreds of fan sites for Victor Krum too!!!)
Update As I am talking about Western European stereotypes, this is my EVER FAVOURITE scene from Adam's Family : Youtube link for Mamushka dance This is so hilarious, I am giggling like mad every time I watch this.
2. How old are Harry and friends? I thought he is supposed to be 13?? He looks quite a bit older then that.
3. Did David Tennant play an evil underhand of Voldermort?
4. I want to ask this not because I want to laugh, but I just want to understand and I will be very grateful if you indulge me with explanation: Why Cedric/Hermione?
