The Wire I have started watching season 3, I have seen episode 1 so far. It is a little slow yet (in the season 2 we had a container full of dead girls by this time) , but seeing all the characters again feels like meeting the real people whom I haven’t seen for a while!! Among new characters, I really like Major Colvin, but he seems to be pals with Major Volchek and this can’t be a good thing, right?

Bones I am up to the episode 7 in the season 1. What to say? Storylines are still quite bad, in a way of collecting as many clichés as you can get. We already had child molesters, terrorists, cannibals, serial killers. BUT!!!!!!!!! Booth is great, and he says some of the most sharp and amusing things ever! And he wears his shoulder holster with dignity!!!! I like the bunch of misfit forensic scientists! They all are fabulous!!! I don’t like Bones herself yet, but this doesn’t spoil the watching for me. I wanted to ask - do you think she has a strange accent (or even a speech impediment)? I was wondering, because as non-native speaker I am never sure of these things.

Supernatural: "Born under a bad sign" What an excellent episode. I am finally getting into Dean/Jo shipping because ). And most of all, being evil makes Sam soooo interesting!

1 Percent of anything Finished it. It was a great fun, but not obsessive love. The best parts for me were multiple secondary OTPs, especially the one with Cousin/Doctor girl. I am craving a recommendation for a new Korean drama!!!!!!!!!!

Seducing Mr. Perfect (Korean romantic comedy) Now, this was a girly joy!! Think “Bridget Jones”, “My Girl” and “Pretty woman” (in the main hero’s part, not heroine’s). I definitely want to make a proper pictural collection!! Such a lovely romantic comedy and Daniel Henney is very very attractive and wounded.

Just a peek: )

Unfair (Japanese drama) Female homicide cop with the tortured past investigates a string of serial murders. I am not fully immersed into this yet, I finished the second episode yesterday, but it is quite engaging and dark. Is anyone watching this? What do you think?

Bones!!!

May be you remember, I had a post on "What shall Alexandra do with Bones" a couple of weeks ago. The winning combination was "Alexandra should watch some more of this because it gets better". I have started watching "A Boy in the Tree" today and first five minutes were fantastic. Agent Booth and Dr. Temperence Brennan had a very cute banter in the car and when Booth said "We do not talk sex at work" finally the bulb in my head lit up and I instantly knew that I like this guy very very much. And when he said "Okay look, we've got about a forty-five minute drive...hmm...what do you say we pass it in quiet meditation" and put his shades on I thought this was one of the best lines I have heard so far.

But then everything went terribly awry again and I am about to rant, and please feel free to miss this. I rant not about any of the characters who are starting to shape up nicely in this episode, but about the show creators.

Because I have a huge question - Do you think Doctors of Anthropology wear tops like presented below for work? Am I out of synch with the working fashions? If someone was wearing tops like this at your workplace would you think nothing of that? Am I getting seriosly old because I think this is unusual? The thing that worried me most of all is that there were definite bouncy movements in the Dr.Brennans chest whilst she was walking. Do you think this is the correct way to portray splendidly intelligent heroine?

Sleep report Finally sleep deprivation due to Asian drama overdose caught up with me yesterday. We had a big “Vision” meeting combined with “Not your Christmas Dinner” lunch for our department yesterday. Somehow it happened that I was made to/volunteered to report our tables’ view on student coaching experience and ideas to the rest of the BIG audience. EEEEE! I was thoroughly embarrassed but my colleagues said that I sounded "very confident". I hope so, but I think they are just trying to be polite. :D
Because I came home early after the meeting I had a chance to put my head down and just switched off for an hour. I could have stayed asleep, but was carried to the church meeting by my dearest dear. And then I again switched off on the way back and stayed switched off until morning. Sleep deprivation is a scary thing. :D I feel a lot better today!!!

Bones. Poll

I have watched two episodes of "Bones" season 1. I am not sure yet because some of the very good people I know love this show so there must be something in, but it seems that into the two episodes span creators managed to fill as much cliches as it was possible:

+ Main heroine (Temperance Brennan by Emily Deschanel) is stroppy but terribly brilliant

+ Heroine’s parents died/disappeared under unclear circumstances

+ The Hero (Special Agent Seeley Booth by David Boreanaz) is burly and has a snarky OTP with the heroine

+ There is an episode involving heroine appearing in the hero’s apartment unexpectedly and him opening the door half-dressed. And of course there is a skanky lawyer lady in that apartment too.

+ There is an episode involving an Arabian terrorist.

+ The Science can solve any crime. (This is actually worrying me – Though admittedly technology and science play more and more role recently, but I think in the recent abundance of shows like CSI the reality of police work, the importance of normal police methods as deduction, observation, collecting of the evidence and interrogation are getting largely underrated and I am getting a little upset for the real Police)
