Hero : the end
May. 24th, 2010 03:56 pmIn order to start watching new drama crop, I have been finishing up some of the dramas that have been in watching already. I have finished Lee Jun Ki's drama "Hero" last week, to my perfect satisfaction. It is not a drama that will be in my "forever favourites" list, but I enjoyed it very well. I found the story (revenge versus fight for truth against evil corporate leaders) to be very engaging and the characters (hard-boiled lady-cop Yoon So Yi; tortured, brilliant and brooding Uhm Ki Joon; cute but angsty Lee Jun Ki, adorable mafia boss Baek Yoon Shik) to be very easy to bond emotionally with . I think the network company made a hash of this drama: the story is great, the actors are great, there is everything going for it, but because of the numerous changes of the lead female actress many people lost interest in it before it even started. I am glad
timescout recommended it to me .

"Hero"'s story is quite multi-dimensional, but I'll try to summarize it without spoiling:
It all starts when boss Jo Yong Deok (Baek Yoon Shik) gets out of the prison where he has spent 15 years, framed for a crime he didn't commit.
He makes a connection with a young journalist, Jin Do Hyuk (Lee Jun Ki), who presently works in a trashy magazine. After the trashy magazine is closed, Jo Yong Deok makes a proposition to Jin Do Hyuk: he wants to organize a new newspaper, and not just any newspaper, but the one which will try to fight for truth and justice.
In the process of fighting for truth and justice Jin Do Hyuk often bumps into a young female police lieutenant, Joo Jae In (Yoon So Yi), and his old University days nemesis Kang Hae Seong (Uhm Ki Joon). Kang Hae Seong currently works for a big and corrupt newspaper. To complicate the matters, there is some connection between the death of Jin Do Hyuk's parents and Jo Yong Deok.
The story is mostly one single arch.
( Some screencaps of various great Hero moments )
The ratings: 7/10
