Help!!

Unexpectedly I have realised that one of my LJ friends, miss_dian can not see the icons I have in this post. This has got me worried in a terrible way, because I always thought that the web space I use is provided by my IP, so it should be accessible from EVERYWHERE. Also I use .png type of file, which is a standard convention. I am puzzled!!!!

I want to understand what is happening and I would be eternally grateful you can help me with this, especially if you live in the country of Asian region, or your operating system is different from Windows, or your browser is different from Internet Explorer and FireFox.

1). Here is the icon post in question. Icons are saved in .png format in "Blueyonder" Web space.
Can you see the icons in this post?

2) Just to compare, in a case it is a file formatting problem. The icons in this post are saved in .jpg format in "Blueyonder" Web space.

3) This is my "Blueyonder" home page: http://www.alexandra1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/. Can you see it? It says something like "Welcome to Blueyonder"

4) This is one of the icons I have uploaded into my new Photobucket web space:. Can you see it?




5). If you have not been able to do any of the 1-2-3-4, especially 3 - Please let me know the following:

- Your country (of course, only if you are comfortable with this, and if you are not – may be you are more comfortable with specifying the region you are in?)

- Your operating system (Windows XP, Windows 98.. …

- Your browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc..)

Do you have any idea why this could be happening?

PS: I will appreciate your help very very much!!!!!!!

lage_nom_ai (who lives in the US) says she can't see any of my icons in Firefox (and they're all png ones too!) She has to use IE. Dunno if that helps!

This is interesting, because I am using both IE and FireFox and can see your icons. I have found what was happening in my case, the whole "Blueyonder" web-site is getting blocked at that particular place. No democracy!!!

Welcome to your blueyonder PWP, it says. I can see all of them. I'm using FireFox, in Canada. I do recall reading somewhere about some people having trouble viewing png files... If I can find it again, I'll let you know.

I have no idea why your friend can't see your icons, but I hope you find a solution to the problem.

I used Internet Explorer to see them. I haven't tried Firefox. And I'm in the US.

I can see all your icons. In China it's not a matter of browser or country, it depends on the provider. Last year I couldn't see a lot of photobucket images but I can see them all this year. I know petitevanou had difficulty with imageshack at one point. It seems like certain isps seem to affect the ability to view an image. To my happiness, I can see all your icons :D Last year was so frustrating because so many images and icons on the net were crosses for me :P

One thing I know for sure is that the fairly old version of IE that I'm using (IE 5.1 for Mac on Mac OS 9.2.2) can't display png files at all, which is why I switch between two different browsers depending on the site I'm trying to reach.

Thank you very much! This is a very important info. I usually save icons as .png because this makes them look better, but...

The actual problem for miss_dian is that it looks like my whole web-space is getting blocked.

EEEEEEE! I am glad everything is sorted! You don't need to worry - it is a pleasure. I guess I am mad about icons sometimes. :D. I was thinking to get Photo Bucket account for ages already!!
