Weekend of Chirstopher Eccleston

alexandralI have watched 3 (!!!) films with Christopher Eccleston this weekend:
Elizabeth: I enjoyed this film greately, mostly because Cate Blanchett is absolutely amazing as Elizabeth, who for me was very Dany Targaryen – like and undeniably beautiful. Cate Blanchette and very talented cinematograph (bravo, Remi Adefarasin, who also did one of my favourite films, "House of Mirth") make this film to be very special. The scene of French suitor’s arrival is so bright and colourful and funny.
I am not so sure about Joseph Fiennes as Robert Dudley. Gosh, the guy’s eyes are far too close together and I am all confused about his feelings for Elizabeth. I like Geoffrey Rush as Sir Francis Walsingham, but his character and plotlines involved don’t seem original to me (I must be watching too many films ;). Christopher Eccleston ( Duke of Norfolk) does a splendid job and looks very attractive and commanding even in the funny trousers.
Invisible Circus: I didn’t like it that much at all and don’t have much to say.
Jude: O my poor heart! This is such a wonderful film. Filmed exquisitely, full of bright colours and beauty. Of course, I could have lived my life very well without scene of Sue’s labour as close-up, but otherwise it is fantastic. Christopher Eccleston and Kate Winslet shine together.
But – it is so upsetting! And I could feel this cloud of doom hanging around from the very beginning. It is like a contradiction for me – film visually quite feisty and cheerful, but something is always there that is hiding in a corner. And when the tragedy comes, it is so cruel and breaking that every time I remember it I want to cry. I want to cry because it is so wrong that a child can do such a thing as killing himself and his sisters. You know, like it is written in “Turn of the Screw” that an idea of evil residing in a child is somehow so much more frightening.
And I was even more upset because Sue’s beliefs didn’t withstand this tragedy. And I love Jude so much more because his love did endure. He rips my heart out. And fills it with love.
I just need a little of "Bleak House" now, that is all..
