alexandral: (Dr. Who - Rose - red)
[personal profile] alexandral
- I have written about 70% of the Report for the Project of Doom. But today I felt I need a break and watched 1 episode of Dr. Who (with Christopher Eccleston) because [livejournal.com profile] lage_nom_ai was talking about it.

I THINK THIS IS THE BEST SHOW EVER! SERIOUSLY! Where have I been when everybody was watching it? I love, love, love it! Because:

- Dr.Who is quirky and crazy and cute

- Rose is wonderful

- Script is fantastic, really clever but not i-am-so-serious-about-myself

- Jokes are out of this world

- Living plastic - Funny, but mannequins make me uneasy always, they look like they ARE alive.

- The only bad thing is that Christopher Eccleston only did one season. Why? I really think he is great.

I broke into iconmaking spree and made an icon with Rose, and then I kept going and made an unrelated icon from the lovely picture of Sean Bean in Caravaggio which very generous [livejournal.com profile] elspethsheir gave me yesterday..

(I don't know if Sean's Bean character is any wild in the "Caravaggio", but this picture in my mind is - he is like some sort of a wild animal here, like leopard perhaps)

-- Icons are free to share

I will not be able to be around much this week because this is the last 10 days before the submission day of the Project of Doom. Have a nice week everyone!

Heee. It's so great to see people get all excited about something!

And good luck finishing the Project of Doom!

You know, I fell in love with Dr. from the very start, I don't mind special effects thing - I think the creators definitely went for 80's look on purpose and for me the special effects are endearingly clumsy. And the rest - YAY!!

Who is this guy on your icon (if you don't mind me asking, I keep bothering everybody about their icons, can't let a nice icon pass by)?

That guy is Jason Momoa, who is playing the burly and hot character Ronon Dex on Stargate: Atlantis. For me, he's pretty much the sole reason to watch, but I do love a man with locks, leather, and weapons. :D The icon was nabbed from a post by [livejournal.com profile] goldie_gal.

Oh, Ronon! I wish he was on some other show. One that didn't suck so much, maybe. Sigh.

On the other hand, I sat through large parts of North Shore for Jason Momoa, and that was decidedly worse.

OMG I can now share the shame of having watched all of North Shore just for him!! But yes--the reminder that there are worse things than SGA is helpful! :D

The hair really does it for him--makes him about a million times hotter than his Baywatch days.

He was so cute on North Shore, too! Everybody else SUCKED, but he was all wry and charming, even if he was a bartender with a business degree *eyeroll* who drew up business planson paper napkins.

I know! And everyone else was UGLY and ANNOYING! And he managed to pull off the stereotypical characteristic of zen-like islander with panache!

Looks like a good reason to consider Stargate: Atlantis; I have a weakness for this Bob-Marley-like hairstyle.. ;) (among others)

Oh, Dr. Who! Christopher Eccleston was wonderful, but really my main reason for watching is Rose, who is a great character, plus Billie Piper is just beautiful. I also adore Rose's mother and boyfriend quite a lot.

From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
Yep! Rose is FANTASTIC! I usually mainly notice characters played by attractive men in the films ;), but this time I was all - this girl is so good and beautiful and funny..

Eee !! So funny boyfriend doesn't disappear after the first episode? Great!

No! He's not in every episode, maybe five overall.

Good, that scene when he was clutching Rose's leg made my day ;)

Hee! Welcome to the Doctor Who fandom, Alexandra! I got hooked last spring, and yes, Chris Eccleston was probably the main reason why. And then I gradually fell in love with everything else. It's such a treat to finally have it on American TV.

And yes, Mickey and Rose's mother appear in later episodes.

Many people thought that the mannequins were cheesy. Well, not to me! I always thought mannequins were slightly creepy, too.

I didn't expect to like it so much - guys at work were forever talking about it, but they watched Dr. Who as kids.

BBC used to show it at the particular inconvenient time for me -18.00 on Saturday, I am usually out and about at this time of day.

I am so glad I have watched it finally! I am completely hooked. Even looking at your icon with characterstic Dr.'s smile makes me want to watch some more of it !

Christopher Eccleston had a role in Elizabeth , didn't he? I never watched that adaptation of Elizabeth, I must catch up.. But - Shallow Grave (actually this is one of my work colleague's favourite movies they keep talking about ;))

I went on a bit of an Eccleston binge last year and watched a lot of his movies. My favorite roles are in Elizabeth and in Jude (with Kate Winslet). Jude is a dark and well done film, and it showcases Eccleston's acting really well (in my opinion). His character in Shallow Grave is kind of dorky. Overall, the film didn't impress me, but it did have good moments.

He's in Shallow Grave? My god, I think I have to rewatch that movie and take my focus off Ewan McGregor now...

Hee! I watched all the key scenes featuring Eccleston and McGregor twice. Once for Eccleston, once for Ewan. [heads desk]

Ah! Someone else has seen Jude the Obscure! Eccleston was amazing - so was she - but goodness, could that film have been any more depressing? I too thought that he was fabulous in Elizabeth, and when I heard that he was the Doctor, I was elated!

I remember seeing Jude and thinking "this must be good", but for some reason I have never watched it. But now I must! (And Elizabeth too). And even Shallow grave.. Thank you for recs!

Yay! I love that you have discovered Dr Who! I discovered it recently as well and raved about it and was so sad about the change of doctors but the new doctor is also fabulous There are some wonderful episodes in season 1. I bet you'll love 'The empty child', 'The doctor dances' and also the finale a LOT. :) Once you've finished the season I'll share some beautiful fan made video clips I have that are just gorgeous and sum up the Rose/Dr relationship so well :'(

PS: I went nuts and collected lots of icons I like (http://koalathebear.livejournal.com/353931.html). :)

I'm so glad that you're enjoying Doctor Who! I had never really watched the past series, but as a fan of Eccleston's, I had to watch. And it's so fun, and sometimes scary, and even sad.

I like Billy Piper; I know that when that casting choice was announced, some people were put off because of her pop singer background, but I think she acquits herself very well, and I'm so glad that she has stayed for #10 too.

Jokes are out of this world

Heeeeeee.

I think, though I could easily be mistaken, that Christopher Eccleston decided early on to only do the one season to avoid typecasting. That could be just one of many rumours, though!

And icon love! May I snag? I made sure to save a few icon spots for more Bean!

I have heard that she has taken part in some other TV dramas and that she is a really good actress.

I can understand him doing it - but I just think he is so great that it would be difficult for me to warm up to the new Dr.Who (though I understand that a part of being Dr.Who is to change appearances all the time)

And icon love! May I snag? I made sure to save a few icon spots for more Bean!

Of course! I am sorry that I didn't mention it, I have updated my post now.

And - isn't it a PERFECT FIGURE??

You've got to see Caravaggio! Sean's character is more than a little wild; you've got him exactly pegged.
