Drama finished: Daemul

Daemul follows the first female president of South Korea and her beset friend, prosecutor Ha Do Ya . It is drama well-written and well-acted. Seo Hye Rim 's rise from a job of simple news announcer to the presidency is believable and logical. It is not Cinderella story - Seo Hye Rim's strong will manifests itself from the first scene, where it is as clear to us as it is to her future life-long friend and lover Ha Do Ya : this woman is special.

The drama had success in ratings and collected several awards: it is a combined effort of the producer of "Lovers" and "Lovers in Prague" and the director of "Hello my Teacher", who seem to be a pair fit to produce something note-worthy, but the main secret of the drama's success is , of course, the lead actress, Ko Hyun Jung. From Mishil to Seo Hye Rim, Ko Hyun Jung is the master of powerhouse-lady roles.

Although I thought Daemul to be a very good drama, for my personal , rather shallow taste, it's balance between the politics side and the love story side was shifted too much into the politics side. 24 episodes of drama relentlessly following dodgy political funds were a little too much for me, so I reached for the fast forward button few times . But! The love story side was lovely: they became friends first and supported each other through sick and thin. I don't want to spoil anyone for the ending, but let me disclose one thing: the ending is GREAT (but I would have expected so from award-heavy drama, anyways).




Their first kiss: she is going to Somalia to rescue some of Korean citizens from the hands of pirates. He, who spent years and years being a good supportive friend and friend only, could not resist any longer.

Haven't seen the drama, but I love Ko Hyun Jung. Loved her in H.I.T, loved her in What's Up Fox? and loved her in Queen Seon Deok.

But what a coincidence. One of your quotes mentioned she went to Somalia to rescue some Koreans from Somalian pirates. There was just a story today about a rescue by South Korean navy commandoes of some Koreans on a ship hijacked by Somalian pirates.

I haven't seen too much of your preferences, but of what I have seen you like serious things with strong female leads - I think you might like "Daemul", it is a very good drama. I loved Ko Hyun Jung in everything I have seen her too. I just remembered "H.I.T" recently, watching "Sign" and "Daemul"

The pirates story was shown in a tiny bit racist way , I thought, but this is quite usual in Kdrama, Daemul was better in this regard than everyone else, not worse.

I really liked her in H.I.T, haven't seen Queen Seon Deok, but from what I hear she delivered quite the perfomance.

And I enjoy friends-turned-lovers stories, they're very rare. I might watch this if I find the time. :)

YAY! Another person who has seen H.I.T - I think it is one of the REALLY GOOD dramas that no-one knows, I wish more people could watch it.

The OTP story is lovely, absolutely lovely in "Daemul".
