Oh! I hadn't read about that. Those two things are close to the worst thing I have read about this issue so far (the automatic setting and as a result of that, if you add the code, since the boxes are hidden, you can't uncheck them). How did you found out about the automatic setting? I can see under "My account settings --> Extensions" boxes for Facebook and Twitter for default cross-posting of comments+entries. Are they automatically on when you enter your FB+Twitter IDs?
And just to explain, I'm just curious. I don't even use FB+Twitter. :)
Edit: I just read the original LJ-news post again. So apologies that I bothered you about this. It actually explains if and when the cross-posting occurs (assuming for a moment that things are actually work as they say). So it seems that not all comments are automatically cross-posted. Though just the fact that you can pre-select this heightens the risk that something goes wrong considerably. And the code to hide the boxes is still counter-productive.
