It has happened: after 1 episode of "Bad Guy" with subs and one raw I am insanely loving this drama. This might end in doom and gloom, but there is still hope, I haven't picked up anything that says "definitely everyone will die" yet, it is more likely that Shim Gun Wook will achieve redemption, that "heaven or hell?" phrase at the end of the episode 1 was very telling.

Shim Gun Wook's tragic past is probably one of the most tragic pasts I have ever seen in fiction. The death of the puppy (poor little thing!) was just the icing on the cake of misery.

Moon Jae In is lovely and so very unconvincing as a beginner gold digger. Hong Tae Sung is incredibly cool (he is Kim Jae Wook ! ) and as it seems that nothing is his personal fault, I am feeling for him and for the poor puppy.

Man, how intense is KNG? I love him. Whenever he's on screen, I can't help but hang from his very word. Oh and his eyes! alskdjlajsd

I'm still incoherent (I watched the ep 1-2 for the first time tonight) so I'm still stuck in squee mode or more accurately my brain is still *processing* all that I've watched. I just know I loved soooo many things. The little details (eg the little half-smile Tae Sung does when she tries to con the con man Haha awesome) all the actors add to their already intense acting makes it all the better

Can you blame them?????

EEEEEEEEEEE! You are watching Bady Guy too and we can discuss!!!

Oh, I am loving this so much too - he is just hypnotic!!!! I am quickly catching up with "Queen Seon Deok" too, and every time KNG has that look on his face I can't help but swoon.

And as you said, Kim Jae Wook is sooooooooo good too. I might even switch the ships, at the moment I am feeling more for him and Mo Ne than for Gun Wook.
But at the same time, I am incredibly attracted to Gun Wook (even seeing he is truly Bad Guy). And how good is Mo Ne! She is apparently completely new to dramas, but it she is so good at acting!

The only "dodgy" moment for me was when Gun Wook's parents died. This felt contrived!!!!!

I need lots of KNG icons

Hee! I love talking kdramas with you! :)

Oh God. I REALLY need to watch QSD. I really, really need to. I'll watch it after The legend, which it's going to be my next sageuk, I think. BTW, KNG is intense in every project he stars in. No regret was my first project of his I've watched and dude, I can't even (that movie is really gritty though). I finished Portrait of a beauty because of him; I was unimpressed by the movie, but I loved seeing KGN as the good guy. Loved how his gaze went all soft and klajdlaskjd whenever he was with Yoon-bok. GUH!

Re: Bad guy. I don't know who I ship yet. The thing with all the characters, especially the guys, is that they're SO layered and we have yet to uncover all their layers. I feel so bad for all of them (not so much for Jae-in yet but I guess that might change soon when the love rectangle is in full swing); there're several reasons for their actions and aldkjasd God, I just feel bad for them. I know Gun Wook is ruthless, but I honestly can't say I don't feel bad for him. And Tae-seong too, he's acting like a spoiled brat, but... asldkjaldsjad My heart goes to him too. See? I'm still like this several hours after watching the eps, incoherent and all. Mo Ne seems the quintessential good girl; I like her, but I don't think I ship her with Gun-wook (yet? Hmm).

The only "dodgy" moment for me was when Gun Wook's parents died. This felt contrived!!!!!

IKR! And when the dog died? Gah, I kept thinking, "OMG did they kill a dog IRL for this drama?" :/ And another thing although this one is just a pet-peeve of mine: when Gun-wook almost sucks the blood from Mo Ne bruised finger. Whenever I see such a scene, which I've seen in j/k movies/dramas a LOT, my knee-jerk reaction is NOT, "Aww, how cuuuute. SO romantic", but "OMFG WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Ways to get HIV, look them up!" I guess being a teen in the '90s when we were drilled about AIDS and how to prevent it is second-nature to me.

Queen Seon Deok: I am really loving it, much more than I expected. I can see why this was such a huge hit. KGN is a cherry on top, but I love so many other characters that I would have loved the drama even without him.

Mo Ne is too young and innocent for Gun Wook. Plus, i think he is the REAL son , so she is his sister - not very good shipping material.

I feel I am going to be very torn here - I am already shipping Tae-seong and Jae In and Gun Wook and JAe In. She is Essential kdrama "cheery, poor, wants to be rich but also is very kind" girl I quite like as a type.

Blood-sucking: gosh, this irks me so much too! But I take it as one of these odd cultural things. No-one would ever do anything like this here, but who knows - they have some quite odd habits here too. :D

RE: BG. I'm so confused about htat. I'd like to think he is the real son (oh so many delicious possibilities if this were true), but didn't the rich parents got him DNA tested at some point (I remember a scene in which someone was holding a paper with the results of a DNA test)? It might be possible that he wants revenge because he went through hell when he was separated from his parents who then died.I'm so confused about that bit of his backstory, actually. Both scenarios work so whether he's the real Hong Tae Sung or just Gun Wook who was left alone living a life of hardships are going to make a great drama though I'm soooo partial to him being the real Tae-sung.

Yeah, I think so, too. But that doesn't mean it doesn't puzzle me. I mean, that's soooooooo different from, say, the finger-pricking that's used whenever one's suffering from indigestion or stomach ache in kdramas. The latter makes no sense to me, either, but while I can brush it off as a cultural difference (we do have some peculiar habits here, too, after all), the former makes me recoil and I just can't shrug it off. I mean, it's not like HIV is endemic to non-Asian regions only. ^^

I have a feeling (I can be entirely wrong) that the DNA test was fake. My guess - the mother was involved in this. She looks really shifty, and obviously she hates both versions of Tae-sung (which is kinda understandable). I can see how this can work out from her POV: if Te-Sung grown into a capable young man and the father tried to leave the company to him, she could have always drop the bomb and disclose that Tae-Sung isn't real after all.
