"Byakuyako"! this is not the end of it! And Horikita Maki is going to play the main role! For me, Korean film "Into the White Nigth" was pretty enough of this particular brand of combination of naivety and horror, but it seems there will be more!!!!!! I am intrigued! I think I will catch up on the Jdrama version this week.

But why Horikita Maki? Why not the other actress, the one who played the role in the Jdrama, Ayase Haruka?

I'm guessing the movie is being done mostly because of the Korean film. I love the series, but it did so-so in the ratings - it's average was 12.2% or so. Who knows, but I do think the film is being made because of the Korean remake. I wonder how far the series and films vary from the novel itself? I do wish it would get translated into English.

You didn't really like Yamada Takayuki in the role? I've seen him in a lot, and think he's talented. But, I'm sure they'll change his character to someone else. I just hope it's not a Johnny, because. . .the Ryo character is very dark and complex, especially in his relationships with Yuki and the detective.

I think with the cast like this - there is a very good chance some subbing group will pick it up.

May be I didn't watch far enough into the drama. I must re-start it!!!

That's not what I meant. I know it is all based on a novel, but the jdrama and the Korean film had some major differences. Which makes me wonder, after watching both subbed, how much of it came from the novel itself - in both the case of the drama and film. It's like, Crying out Love at the Centre of the Universe was made into a jdrama, jfilm, and kfilm; all have the same storyline and share several of the same scenes. However, many of the story lines and scenes in all three aren't in the novel itself.

Oh, I am sorry - I got it wrong. yes, I wish the book was translated and I wish we had more Japanese novel translations in general. The original novel can be very different.
