ASOIF : In a search for Jaime and Brienne

My eyes are feeling so much better today!

After work we went to see our friends from church as we usually do on Fridays which always is a lovely way to finish the week.

Then I thought: I should try to find picture of Jaime and Brienne together because they are so beautiful and great together. And because winterspel was talking about reading “A Clash of Kings”.. And I have not found one I found instead that strangely enough Brienne is not very popular in the world of forums, and now i just want more posts of Brienne love from queenofthorns because i am going to love her better then the whole world anyway. There are plenty of pictures of Sandor, but not Brienne, and particular not Jaime/Brienne. **sighs** Why? I know everybody is entitled to their opinion, but i just would love a picture ;)

And because i love making icons i just had to make icon from Michael Komarck’s picture of Jaime sitting on the Iron Throne. And because i have started reading “A Clash of Kings” and this is the book of Jaime! And Brienne, of course! I am not 100 percent happy with the icon, though ;(




Jaime’s dreams in the “A Clash of Kings” are filling my head with questions and there is that incredible dream when he dreams (or remembers) the moment he sat on the Iron Throne and “Then he climbed the Iron Throne and seated himself with his sword across his knees, to see who would come to claim the kingdom. As it happened, it had been Eddard Stark.You had no right to judge me either, Stark”. This passage somehow makes me cry. Because it is so sad that young boy as her was he had to make these terrible choices. And them Jaime is fighting with the dead burning in the green flames and the dead would not die. Others they must be, but why would they not die in the flames?

I also found beautiful picture of Rhaegar with whom i am in love a little. I think he looks a bit like Heath Ledger. And Heath Ledger is nice. I think I should go and see “Brokeback Mountain” this weekend.

That picture of Rhaegar looks like Heath Ledger, as you say, and also sort of like Val Kilmer. And do go see Brokeback Mountain - it's lovely.

Hee! I totally agree with you, that painting of Raegar looks like a combination of Heath Ledger and a your Val Kilmer! The icon is gorgeous as well, and it has that beautiful border you usually uses in some of your icons!

I always think about that fact; how young Jaime is when he joins the Kingsguard. He's fifteen, the age of Robb and of Jon Snow, and he watches this mad cruel king do terrible things and these men who are paragons of honor, his brothers of the Kingsguard, do nothing and rebuke him for apparently showing his own revulsion in his face. And the disillusionment of that, plus the realization that Aerys chose him only to spite his father ... those are powerful shocks to someone, no?

I always think that Jon and Jaime have a lot of parallels in many ways - not least because they both have to make a difficult choice about which oaths are worth keeping and they have to do it when they are both young and alone.

It was also a little eye-opener for me how in this place in the book Jaime was thinking how he didn't know what to do, and part of him wanted to find Aerys's heirs , and part of him knew that Robert is usurper really, and he knew that whatever way it goes, there will be no fairness or truth, because THERE ISN'T one anyway ;) And this disillusionment of somebody so young is just **sniffs**

I hope very much (and actually see him doing it) to get his ideals back, and help Dany..

Yes, I think it's very clear Jaime's NOT operating from the same political/dynastic considerations as his father (whatever Ned thinks!) and he does think about naming Rhaegar's child as King (although he also, obviously, doesn't know his father's men are murdering that same child.)

I think yes, you're right, that Jaime was a very idealistic boy (he worshipped Arthur Dayne) and those ideals were so shattered by his experiences at Aerys's court that he came to believe they didn't exist at all; and then Brienne shows him that they do and that's part of why he treats her as he does - the desperate desire for her respect because it's truly worth having and the simultaneous need to keep her at a distance in case she doesn't respect him so he can't be hurt by that.

O,,i just read today properly how Cersei made Jaime to sign for the Kingsguard **sniff** This is a love for you - and who knows, but at the same time - he could have been married to Lysa **shrug**, but then again she would have been a happy girl then? With JAIME?

Well, it just seems so calculating of Cersei too - because Jaime's signing away his entire life, really. He won't inherit Casterly Rock; he won't ever have a family or children of his own - so on Jaime's part, yes, it's love. On Cersei's part? Doesn't love mean that you want what's best for the person you love? She really seems to have never, ever thought about what was best for Jaime - only how he could be with her. Poor Jaime!

And maybe Lysa wouldn't have been so crazed if gorgeous, loyal Jaime had been her husband :)

Sunbrae is a love, and so are you so I think you'll get along very well indeed!

I was looking for old ASOIAF posts of yours today, and I found this one, that for some reason I think I might have missed.

I love that icon of Rhaegar, and I love Rhaegar to bits, and I look forward to learning more about him, because he totally fascinates me.

I also wanted an icon of Brienn and Jaime together, and since there aren't any images (as far as I know), I made this rotating .gif of them, which is pretty easy to do.

I don't know if you saw, but I finally finished A Feast for Crows and wow, it was so good. I can't wait for the next book. Happy reading, my dear!

I read very slowly now with the "project of doom" , i am still around page 100 of second part of ASOS. I am going to go and find your AFFC post this week. YAY! Something to look forward to!

Did you see my HOFD icons? That was my first try, and I do like them, even though they're not perfect...the Bleak House ones are much harder - I'm not very satisfied with them (which is why I haven't posted them yet). I really don't know how to make the caps look the way I want them to - I like crisp images, and I just don't know very much about how to use my PSE yet. *shrug* I'll keep trying to learn! :)
