I always think about that fact; how young Jaime is when he joins the Kingsguard. He's fifteen, the age of Robb and of Jon Snow, and he watches this mad cruel king do terrible things
It was also a little eye-opener for me how in this place in the book Jaime was thinking how he didn't know what to do, and part of him wanted to find Aerys's heirs , and part of him knew that Robert is usurper really, and he knew that whatever way it goes, there will be no fairness or truth, because THERE ISN'T one anyway ;) And this disillusionment of somebody so young is just **sniffs**
I hope very much (and actually see him doing it) to get his ideals back, and help Dany..
