Meet THE GROWLER

Remember when Mr.Alexander persuaded me to get a motorbike and rid of our second car, because "With the financial crisis and petrol prices and etc. two cars is a bit too much for a family of three?" . Less then one year later: We have the bike, it has been paid for, Mr. Alexander rides it to work every day and sometimes he picks Sasha up from school on the bike. Everyone is happy, especially Sasha, whose school-friends are jealous of her going on the bike. But then - Mr. Alexander gets a new idea! We need a car for Sundays and holidays! We just can't live without it because : "What if we need to go to a church convention thingy and have to take our duvets with us? What is going to happen when my sister and my niece come to England for holidays this year? how are we all going to fit into Sputnik?". And to make me agree he devises a cunning plan: he knows that I like old cars so he says that the car that we absolutely can not live without is an old Jaguar XJ6. And I agree. :D
Meet THE GROWLER. This car is totally male in gender. I love love love it to bits. It drives as a treat and it is as long as a battleship:

My Sputnik: it is incredibly red, I had to tone down the Saturation on this picture:

Date: 2009-05-13 02:20 pm (UTC)The acquisition of the red one has paled into insignificance.

Date: 2009-05-13 07:43 pm (UTC)And do I understand that correctly, you (your family) bought the Jaguar?
And Sasha getting picked up from school on a motor bike. It doesn't get much cooler than that. :D

Date: 2009-05-13 08:33 pm (UTC)Hee! I know! But strictly speaking, when our car was made the Jaguar was fully British. It was before General Motors came and spoiled it all, as they do .:D

Indeed. Only now she gets picked up in a jaguar - she says, very apologetically "You know mummy, I like your car, but I like daddy's better". He-he!

Date: 2009-05-14 02:52 am (UTC)Now you have two cars and a bike. I think this defeats the purpose of your original plan. LOL.
And it is a rule or social practice to park like that?

Date: 2009-05-19 01:40 pm (UTC)Indeedy! Now instead of 2 vehicles per 3 people we have 3 vehicles per 3 people. :D
Our street is quite narrow, so our side usually parks slightly on the curb. :D

Date: 2009-05-14 03:11 am (UTC)I love Sputnik too. Entirely different personalities for each car; I can imagine Sputnik terrorising the Growler as much as a terrier worries at a larger dog. XD

Date: 2009-05-19 01:45 pm (UTC)hee! Sputnik is very nimble - I regularly practice fast accelerating when traffic lights change to green. :D

Date: 2009-05-14 06:35 pm (UTC)and i love how total opposites your jaguar is with the sputnik - how long the Jaguar is while the sputnik is totally compact than the most compact here in US!
do you guys actually have to park with one side of the car on the sidewalk?
