Thank you so so much to all of you for the posts, emails, birthday wishes and gifts. I feel so touched and loved and my heart is absolutely full!! My day has been wonderful!
I wanted Germany to win and I wanted Ballack to win. They did and secured themseves a place in the finals of the Euro 2008 - My congratulations to
trailer_spot,
scottishlass and
lage_nom_ai!
This said, I have a niggling feeling and I feel for the Turkish team. They played better and they seemed to want the victory more. But I guess that the German strikers (who didn't have many chances to do it) can strike better.

Date: 2008-06-25 09:21 pm (UTC)The Turks had nothing to lose and we didn't play well. But as you said, we so far don't need a lot of chances and are able to score quickly. After Turkey won a lot of games in the last minute, this time they lost.
I'm glad the tournament is over soon. I feel like I'm getting close to turning 50. ;)

Date: 2008-06-25 09:38 pm (UTC)Up to a point, I wholeheartedly agree that Turkey was the better side as far as ball possession and all such things are concerned. However, I am not so sure as to assign the victory by Germany to their luck. It is not only how many chances you create but also how well you utilise your chances. Still - poor Turkey!!

Date: 2008-06-25 09:33 pm (UTC)Even though I went into the game rooting for Germany, I kinda wanted turkey to win by the end. Oh well.
And eeeh! Tomorrow is Russia/Spain. I cannot wait.

I am very jittery. My poor nerves are getting too old for this. I will be happy when tomorrow is over!

Date: 2008-06-25 10:06 pm (UTC)Oh Russia! They must win. They simply must. I don't want to watch the finals and root for the Germans just out of spite.

Date: 2008-06-25 10:10 pm (UTC)Yes, we did. I think something happened in Austria, due to the thunderstorm they were having?

Date: 2008-06-25 10:38 pm (UTC)Oh, this is wonderful! I guess this way there were no chances of losing! Just another victory for fraternity and friendship of different nations!!!
Good luck for the Russian team tomorrow!
Thank you so much!! From what I ahve seen Russian team is very strong bt it is so hard not to notice that "the other side is always greener". Spain is such an excellent opponent.

Date: 2008-06-26 01:18 am (UTC)YAY Germany! (I root for them along with Italy), but I haven't watched the latest game yet. As for the Russian team, I wish them luck tomorrow, but I also have to confess I'm still getting used to the idea that a Russian team got this far at all (it's been something like 20 years, right? And why was Russian football so lousy for these 20 years? I have no idea.)

Yes, it seems that the last time they did any good was 20 years ago, still during USSR times. I was happy they went to semi-finals! It is much better than I ever seen England to perform on the football field. :D
