EEEEEEEEE! Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] umeedmerchant, my dear friend and someone who is so wise and interesting to talk to! I hope you have a great day you deserve!!!!!!!

And in honour of [livejournal.com profile] umeedmerchant's birthday something I had stashed away for a while - a smallish collection of screencaps featuring Michael K. Williams in "Alias" (aka Omar Little aka small but entertaining role of Roberts) . Hmm, agent Vaughn has found his way into these screencaps too, I don't know how.

BUT OBVIOUSLY - Michael K. Williams says "Happy birthday, umeedmerchant!" on every single screencap. :D

oh I haven't seen that yet though I have heard it is an amazing episode, I am downloading season three now, so I will see it fairly soon.

I think it is a worthy series, it is a little hokey but overall it was quite good and the performances were all excellent. and I just adore Jane Horrocks in general and it was nice seeing her in a more serious role than she often is cast in. Carey Mulligan has a pretty good sized role in it and she plays it well, in my opinion. her character might have could have come across as unsympathetic but I think she played her so well, that you felt for her rather than were annoyed by her.

the recent adaptation of Bleak House was quite good I thought but then again, I haven't read the book. I'm not actually that great a fan of Dickens as bad as that sounds!

I think it's a matter of stubbornness pride that I have to read classics before I can watch any adaptations. My senior paper in college was on Jane Austen's Emma and I really love watching the changes/subtle shifts from Brit Lit to appeal to modern audiences. Or, my heart rips itself to pieces watching the crap spewed on ITV's Persuasion or even that horrific 2005 Keira Knightley vehicle of Pride and Prejudice. (Can you tell I hated that movie? God, the thought of it makes me want to rip my hair out, that people will flock to that because of KK and the shorter length, and forgo the brilliance that is BBC's 1995 version!)

It's a serious flaw I have, as it's keeping me from watching movies I want to see, like Jude with Christopher Eccleston and Kate Winslet—even though I hate Thomas Hardy. Everytime I imdb either character and run across it I gnash my teeth over "read or watch? read or watch?" But Hardy depresses me :( And I'm already depressed, don't need my escapism to bring me more down ;)

You won't be disappointed in "Blink." No matter how many times and how many people say it's so awesome... it really is. I've watched it a disgusting amount of times, and often will put it on the player when I've got a guest over late night. I love throwing my scifi/geekness at people ;)

with me while I am reader, I tend to read modern and contemporary literature. I don't really care much for the classics apart from philosophy, the Greeks and 19th Century Russian Lit. with film if it is an adaptation of a contemporary work, I generally will want to read the book first. which why I have yet to see No Country for Old Men, I have the novel and want to read it first. I just need to get around to doing it! with the classics, I really don't care whether I have read them or not in most cases.

yeah, I am sure I won't be disappointed, I have heard so many good things about it. I will probably be watching it some time next week or the following one. I have a backlog of torrents to catch up on!
