A New Show! YAY! And the show that have already been picked up for the whole season! In a case all other new shows I watch (Moonlight, Life) will be cancelled this is my insurance policy.. :D

- I have watched 2 episodes of it and I can't say that I love it as some bits of it are purely sitcom-like and I am not keen on sitcoms. This is one of the things that worry me, actually. My sense of humour must be absent entirely because I usually find sitcoms not at all funny but rather tragic, I end up feeling sorry for poor misfit people they portray and wanting .. you know.. help them all. ;)

- But some of it is very quirky and somehow unusual and this is a total win. I am going to watch mooooore of this today!!!

- I am have a strange feeling of attraction for the main hero, Nick George played by Peter Krause . He is so ordinary but at the same time so .. different. And he has a great voice. This is so STRANGE - a guy with a haircut like his can't be possibly attractive but he is..

Look! His haircut of doom doesn't go together with his strong Nordic chin!

- And they just used a Leonard Cohen's song on "Dirty Sexy Money". Yes I am sold!!!

I thought I was the only one! No, actually, I didn't, but it's good to know someone else who also doesn't do humor. It's not that I don't have a sense, but humor for humor's sake doesn't do much for me. I prefer humor incidentally to my drama/action. [livejournal.com profile] iheartschnickle warned me I might not get much out of Chuck, she said it's very sit-comy rather than arc-story. She knows me well, heh.

I am very relieved - I was worried about this for ages. I think I like dark and strange humor more than "humor for humor" sake , as you say. My dearest watches all these British programs that he finds hilarious.. and I am not. :D

To be fair, "Dirty Sexy Money" are not like that. There is a little percent of sitcom but it is really quite deep.

I don't care about Chuck, either. Not my sense of humor.

It took the show a few eps to get past that "sitcom-humor". It's more appealing to me now that in its early eps. Glad you like it. DSM hasn't hit me nearly as hard as Moonlight has. I just enjoy the ride.

I am so lad you and [livejournal.com profile] the_grynne were recommending it. The premise of the show was so not something I usually like but somehow.. I like it. :D I like Nick and Brian ( I find him dead amusing in a dark humour way) the most .. AND LIONS!!!

It can't be obsessive-love of "Moonlight" proportions, of course (there is no Mick!). :D It is so different but fun.

I've no idea what this show is about but I liked Peter Krause in Six Feet Under. Hmmm... I'm wondering if I should give it a try. I need another show like a hole in the head, still....

It is quite lovely!! Nick is a son of a man who worked as personal lawyer (and do-all-things person) with the richest family in NY, THE Darlings. After his father dies in a plane crush Nick is asked to "step in his shoes". He doesn't really want to but because his father's death is suspicious Nick agrees as he wants to investigate it. What to say - Darlings are crazy, Nick is cute and it all has a lovely promise!

Ha, this was the show I was obsessed with until I happened to catch Moonlight for the first time. Peter Krause's mutton chops are so incongruous that I often find myself unable to focus on anything else. Still, it's quite a good show. Glenn Fitzgerald is my man-candy of choice, though. ;)

Brian is fabulous - first of all, it feels strange for a priest to be so .. hot. And second, I love love love the story with Brian junior. I am not at all obsessed but the show is good in a very different to "Moonlight" (which is still my quite guilty obsession, but obsession I am currently dying of. I couldn't stop thinking about next episode's events driving to work today. Clearly obsessed.)

I agree about most of them! I think this is a kind of humour I can't appreciate at all and maybe it's just me, but I love sit-com just not that often :-\

oh no!!! ugh!

Which ones are your favourites (if this is OK to ask)??

I have mainlined the rest of the episodes of "Dirty Sexy Money" and it is very very good. It seems to go deep under light veneer of quite quirky humour. (Some things about politics too :D)

I think I liked just Friends and Family Ties (mainly because of Micheal J. Fox!), I'm not a big sit-com lover - plus, maybe what we call 'sit-com' in Italy is not actually the same there!

Same in Russia - their comedy shows are quite different. I used to LOVE old Italian comedies (with Marcello Mastroianni :D). I haven't seen too many recently but I guess the tradition is not dead, it is just we don't get them in the UK.

This is totally true - and I am so so glad you are watching it! I was thinking that not many people watch it on my friends list!!!!!

YAY! I loved the last episode's revelations - the story with Simon Elder's family is soooooo sad. I was already totally painting him the "bad millionaire" but now I wonder if things are different and Trip is playing games with everyone's mind. SO INTERESTING!

I keep getting unusually attracted to Nick. :D

If you like Peter in this show ... he has also been in Six Feet Under and Sports Night - both also very good shows SFU is a drama with a bit of funny and SN is a sit-com but it's written by the same guy who did West Wing and Studio 60 so the dialogue is excellent!

Thank you so much for the rec - I have heard about "Six Feet Under" and some good things. I'll probably give it a try soon.

But today I am very much pre-Moonlight jittery.. :D

Hmmm ... I don't see that yet but I think some groundwork in that direction has been layed with the meeting they had. It'll be interesting to watch if that's the way the writers take that relationship. Man, I really want to see this writers strike end already :(
