I loved it with the great love and as of this moment "Rome" is my favourite TV show ever made and shares this title with HBO "The Wire". YAY to HBO for making these series and many other great ones too. I loved everything about this episode, and I loved the ending. It was not something depressing for me at all, but rather something very uplifting.

Episode in which Pullo and Vorenus were amazing or So many fabulous things I loved in this episode. In screencaps )
alexandral: (Rome - Vorenus - Soldier)
Can I love this show more? I loved the previous episode "A necessary Fiction" and it was one of my favourites, but because there was so much of deep understanding of human in soul in "Deus Impeditio Esuritori Nullus" (read - Lucius Vorenus) I will probably end up liking it even more.

I was fascinated by Mark Antony and his relationship with Cleopatra, and so many good words for James Purefoy! It really pays off to include good actors like him or Ciaran Hinds into a TV show! When it comes to important scenes like scenes of Caesar's death or scenes depicting Mark Antony and Cleoptara's relationship, James Purefoy and Ciaran Hinds effortlessly give a new meaning to the familiar historical events.

Plus James Purefoy gives a totally new meaning to a beard and eye-liner.. :D

But of course, this episode for me will always be the one where "Lucius Vorenus was absolutely awesome". Pullo was fabulous too, but I my fannish heart is so full of Vorenus at the moment. :D

Greatness of Vorenus and Pullo in this episode. Pictures )

A Couple of little things that I didn't like )

** sigh ** I had to make some icons again. Making "Rome" icons seems to be an incurable disease as [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns said. I promise to stop soon – just one more week!

I have been dreading to watch the latest episode of "Rome" .. I watched it finally this evening and I thought it was one of the strongest episodes of this season, but my heart is torn into tiny little pieces now.. So many things happened in this episode!

Rome, A Necessary Fiction. I am ranting a bit but it all ends well with pictures of Pullo and Vorenus )

I have made some icons, they mostly reflect the fact that Titus Pullo was incredibly great in this episode, even with all his mistakes and shortcomings and weaknesses he is so absolutely awesome.

They are free to share, please let me know if you need any text added and I will do it with pleasure!!!

Even though I spend most of this episode with the feeling of dread and impending doom, there were many things I liked about it, and few of the actors, some of my old and new favourites, did a particular good job there.

Notes on "Rome" episode 6 "Philippi". I liked it very much because I do like "Rome" and it can't do anything wrong for me at the moment, but I had some uneasy and confused feelings my spoilery thoughts on the episode )

Two picspams of the day

Agrippa and Octavia )

Brutus breaks Alexandra’s heart. It is not a spoiler as this episode is named Philippi I guess )

EEE! I have blurted this all out! Now I can go and read everyone's posts! And also I should go home and catch up on some sleep!!

I spent the first half of today at the dentist’s (but this is the pre-ultimate visit!!). The second part of today went much, much better in watching and re-watching 17th episode of HBO series “Rome”, “Heroes of the Republic”. I loved this episode in so many ways that I can’t contain my glee and can’t even wait until the icons are ready, I must speak of it!!!

Oh, let me count. I love the latest episode of Rome because (Or 15 things I adored about this episode, pictorial help included) : )
alexandral: (Default)
I liked it very much!! "Rome" is my favourite à la Dumas story of two ancient Roman musketeers. Whatever is happening in Rome, Pullo and Vorenus are sure to be involved!!!! My head is hurting from triple-day over iconing, but I don't really care. :D

+ I like Simon Woods as the new Octavian, he seems to be so ENERGETIC, but I have to watch a little more of him to complete my mind.

+ But I think my loyalties to Pullo and Vorenus are seriously shaken because I do, do love Agrippa so!!! Because, spoilers )

Agrippa screencap of the day )

+ And as to the rest , you know what is the best thing on earth? Some more spoilers )

And EEEE! Icons!!! (I am so sorry, I can't stop just yet). Icons are free to share ,if you like I will make customizations, like text and etc., for you.
Spoilers, big spoilers.

I am having a cold, so half of the day I was laying in bed watching "Master and Margarita" (I have an excuse, right?) and then I fell asleep and had a dream and in my dream I was making icons of "Rome". And also [livejournal.com profile] balenoptera said something about icons of Agrippa. And YAY! I thought! I have an excuse here!! And I liked Agrippa very much and I hope for some things which could be spoilery ).

Also [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns and I were talking about how great the Anouncer Guy is, so I felt I must make some icons of him as well.

I'll try to be quick with this because I need to pick Sasha from school/do our Monday library trip in 20 minutes, but if I don't write things down my heart can burst. :D As [livejournal.com profile] balenoptera was saying, what did I do before the age of LJ?

I loved this episode, but my heart is in pieces for everyone. I never thought I would say this about Brutus (I remember thinking during the history classes "at least the man received his comeuppance") I feel such a pity for him, and in a way I understand why he did what he did. But ** shudders ** watching the beautiful and incredibly sad scene in which he tries to wash himself clean and knowing what the future generations are going to think about his acts, I WAS CRYING!!

More spoilery part )

I have some Questions :D )

Alexandra's picture of the day )

PS: I have to run!!!!!!!!!!! I hope my grammar is only as bad as usual. :D
alexandral: (Rome - Vorenus - priceless face)
My head/heart is full of "Rome"-related thoughts. When one starts thinking about future plot developments before dozing of to sleep one must admit that this is serious. And even more so, this week I re-watched my favourite scenes from season 1 and this helped to add fuel to the fire. :D

And this is where posting a collection of pictures helps, because for me life is largely about visuals. I have collected 35 (!!) screencaps involving mostly Vorenus. But of course Pullo is there too because Vorenus and Pullo are one single unit for me.

So, for your perusal: Vorenus, Pullo, sweat, blood, daggers, long pale eyelashes and blue eyes.

Also because "Rome" still occupies my thoughts, I welcome any requests for "Rome" icon making - choose your favourite screencap, let me know if you like a particular text and I will make an icon this weekend.

Oh, I loved it! Another great episode plus am I reconciled with Cleopatra. She and Mark Antony had an amazingly charged scene, and YAY! What was that dress made of? Golden pieces? Whatever it was, it was stunning.

Couple of more spoilery remarks )

I guess I like this show like no other because I can not stop making icons. :D They are free to share (if you like I will make customizations, like text and etc., for you) and mostly reflect my new-found love for Cleopatra. :

Hana Yori Dango
This week was busy at work and my brain is dead (at least the part of it which normally functions) but so many exiting things are happening in the fictional world!!!! I wanted to post pictures of the latest Japanese drama which makes me smile and sigh at the same time – "Hana Yori Dango", but [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore have posted most excellent pictures already!!! Here.

Anime: "Fushigi Yuugi" vs "Ayashi No Ceres"
I also was thinking why don’t I watch anime and that I really love Hayao Miyazaki’s animation films (my absolute favourite is "Princess Mononoke"). But big Thank You to [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore and [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie , they gave me some great recommendations. Now I am torn between "Fushigi Yuugi" and "Ayashi No Ceres", but I am really inclined to watch Ceres because it seems to be darker and have a huge weakness for dark moods and themes.

Bittersweet Life
I also have watched "Bittersweet life", film of Korean director Kim Ki-woon. ("A Tale of Two Sisters"). I enjoyed it much more then I thought I would and the same happened with “A Tale of Two Sisters”. Both are more then their genre implies – "A Tale of two sisters" is more then a simple horror movie and "Bittersweet life" is more then a simple action/revenge flick. May be it is all in the cinematography and noir elements which are done to the perfection, and may be in some intangible qualities which hang beyond the frames and colours. "Bittersweet life" is a tale of a lone gunman set in seedy places of Seoul. I was spell-bound by the music in this film - it was amazing, heart-wrenching and uplifting at the same time.

This is my favourite scene: Main protagonist Sun-woo moves between two walls of light and into the darkness ahead.

One more amazing scene )

Dog Soldiers/ Kevin McKidd
On my wave of love for the HBO series "Rome" and for Lucius Vorenus in particular I watched "Dog Soldiers". It could have been a totally missable film if not for Kevin McKidd’s presence who played terribly efficient Pvt.Cooper. So it was not all that bad. :D. And I found a very stylish black-and white picture of Kevin McKidd!!!!

Picture of Kevin McKidd )

PS Nice weekend to you all!!!!!!!!!!!

To join with the LJ glee about the start of the season 2 of "Rome" I have made some icons. I liked the first episode very much - I guess some of my Asian drama obsessions will have to wait until "Rome" is over. :D Vorenus and Pullo are back !!!!! And also many many other characters I love in these series. When I started watching it was all about Vorenus and Pullo for me, but I now I love every single one of them!!!

I had a crazy “last night” of study and have submitted assignment!

Then I found a very fast “Rome” torrent, downloaded and watched it and now I am all totally emotional, partly because I am tired and I am always more emotional when tired and partly because:

I am still crying like a baby over what happened in Kalends of February, it was a great episode )

O, I have to go and watch “Shakespeare re-told: The taming of the shrew” to make myself better

I don’t remember last time I was so emotional over TV ! Sorry for spelling and rambling..
alexandral: (Rome - Titus - Honor)
I have finished "Subtle knife" yesterday among doing some research.

Though it was very-very good, i didn't didn't feel about it in the same way as about "Northern Lights", mainly because Iorek Byrnison wasn't there! I find it difficult to really love the book if it hasn't a character i can fall in love with, and in the case of "Dark Materials" this character is Iorek! My brave armored bear somehow reminds me a little of Titus Pullo. Why? Because he is so faithful to his friends? Because he could not live without his armour? Because he is HUGE? And is a great fighter? And drinking problems?

I was terrified by the "Spectres"; really it seems so plausible if there are some creatures in the world which feed on our soul and consciousness? And that where all our mental problems come from?

I hope there is more of Iorek in the "Amber Spyglass".

I have watched properly "Rome" "Triumph" yesterday which left me very perturbed. I crave for another post from [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns about it and reassurance that everything will be fine with the boys. Please, somebody, tell me that it isn’t in the nature of American TV to do anything really drastic with the main characters…PLEASE!!

It was very heart-breaking: )
I was so crazy that i went and read some spoilers on TWOP, and - i wish i didn't!!!!!!!

Later on I watched "Happy together", and if there is anything in the planet distressing, that was it. [livejournal.com profile] ginger001 warned me, and she was right as always . There are very few films which left me feel disgusted while at the same time thinking that the film was worthy:

"Cries and whispers": This film is about selfishness and cold hearts and pain and dying. I personally believe Ingmar Bergman to be THE greatest director of all times and "Cries and whispers" profoundly touched me, but – here is THE most disgusting scene of all times – a lady cutting her vagina in order to avoid sex with her husband.

"Monster" : It made me feel very responsible for the state our world is in, because even in the richest of the countries there are conditions in life which produce demons. I found Aileen and her girlfriend to be extremely revolting while simultaneously I felt the great pity for them

"Chopper" Huh, it has dark humour which I am very partial to, it has Eric Bana too. Loathsome – it has plenty of loathsome, buckets of it!!!!!!!

"Happy together" A story about alienation penetrating everything, even love; a story about a loss of love between two homosexual men. Film started with explicit sex scene which is stuck in my eye now and which I could really do without seeing ever and which was very disgusting for me. And it gone on pretty the same way..Though Tony Leung was awesome.

Now I am distressed as I easily get distressed from fictional things ;(
