Still, marry me: the end
Mar. 27th, 2010 04:16 pmChuno has finished, my "OMPH! I can't think of anything but Chuno" obsession has subsided a bit; I am finishing up all my other running dramas so that I can start watching the new crop.

Today I sailed through the last 5 episodes of "Still, Marry me"" (a romantic drama with Park Jin Hee and Kim Bum), to my perfect satisfaction. I fished liking the drama much better than I expected. It all seems like the usual trope of "any successful woman over thirty must be deeply unhappy and longing for a husband and family" at first, but to be fair to the writers, they managed to dig themselves out of it by showing quite realistically what the life after marriage is like for any woman who also wants to pursue her own goals.
I loved all four of the female characters, especially the Agony Ant Boo Ki (and isn't Wang Bit Na absolutely ethereally pretty?). I felt as if I had a lot in common with Shin Young, Sang Mi was scorching sexy and Da Jung, although annoying and immature at times, was very cute.
The ratings were strangely low – was it because the drama was shown in the same time slot as "Chuno" or was it because Korean viewers aren't really that keen on age difference stories? I thought that for once, the age difference card was played quite well, and instead of the usual "any lady over 30 must be really happy to find a boy-toy boyfriend" the drama gave us "age doesn't matter in love as long as two sides are suitable for each other" .
( A couple of BIG pictures of Kim Bum, just because: )
