Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] soniag!!!!!!!! I am always looking forward to your witty posts and can't imagine LJ without you!! I wish you all the great things you wish for!! (May be a book or two next year????)

This weekend caught me in RL shopping madness. First of all, Sasha received quite a large sum of money for her birthday and on Saturday she and I went to the Meadowhall, Sheffield with the aim of spending them on all things nice. To say honestly, I am not a huge fan of large shopping malls because they make me tired but when you don't know what are you looking for and the weather is cold outside they are useful. We spend a considerable time in "Disney store", "Barrats" and "Toys R US" and at the end of it I was as animated as a fireplace rug.

Yesterday, on Monday, my friend rang me and asked if we can go shopping together because she wanted to take her mind off some of her problems. I love spending time with her so I agreed.

The result that I have a huge big headache today of the kind that sometimes visit me after I have been tired but ignoring it for a few days. I think I need an Internet-free evening today sitting in a dark corner with a big bar of chocolate. Honestly, chocolate does wonders on my headaches!!!!! I have got myself a bar of Lindt chocolates!!! And may be I will watch Shaun of the dead as a pick-up!!

But before I disappear in darkness I MUST post these black-and-white promo pictures of the Canadian show "La Femme Nikita" that I have been mainlining the last two weeks. I can't describe by words out of my weary head how much I like romantic pairing of Nikita and Michael. There is so much in it, fated forbidden love, insurmountable (but not imaginary!) barriers between the two protagonists, tenderness and deceit.. Oh, the games they play with each other!

Anyways – Happy Monday everyone!!!

Yeah the pics are beautifil! But I still can't adjust to the idea that "Nikita" in these series is a female name! ;)

Have you seen the original "Nikita" film? It made a huge impression on me. I saw it the first time whilst I was still in Russia and I also remember thinking how strange it is that Nikita seems to be a female name in France. Have you seen the film or the series?

I've seen both. The series also were on TV in Russia, at least part of them.

But I can't say I'm very fond of "Nikita". I don't like criminal (spy) series/films at all and also I don't like the actress in the lead so much. But the lead man of "Nikita" is simply gorgeous, this I admit! :) One of the most beautiful European male actors I've seen.

I am naturally also more fond of the leading man . :D Apart from being simply gorgeous he also has an extremely attractive French accent!

Oh, French accent, when the person speaks English, is quite recognizable! :D
Yeah I know it quite well - for some period of my life I had a boy friend who was French, but we communicated in English - at first I didn't understand his accent almost at all ;) and only lately got used to it.

I guess I would have been listening to him in awe. :D

He-he... Now I learned to love French accent, but at first it was a nightmare. :)

I had a horror of my life with Yorkshire accent. Everyone has an accent in the UK. I keep saying to the guys at work that I am going to go to the speech therapist and rid of my Russian accent but they say that it is a part of me and I shouldn't. :D

Perfection of individuality? Well, this is a complicated question, I think. Everyone decides to him/herself what to choose. :)

I reached the point with English where new people I meet don't ask me to repeat what I say anymore. But they do often ask which country I came from. (recently someone asked if I am French. ** laughs **)

I loved the original film and in comparison with it, the world-building in the "La Femme Nikita" TV series is much weaker but the two main actors/characters make up for it in spades.

To compare LFN with "Spooks", "Spooks" are much better in their story building IMHO..

Hee. I hear you in regards to the shopping malls - there is something about the light and noise in those places that I find rather uncomfortable. But yay for good shopping and yay for Michael and Nikita! So very, very pretty.

And I hope your headache goes away fast - and Lindt chocolate is the best!
(speaking and shopping and chocolate - in Berlin I found a Lindt store! They don't have those in Norway so I took my time to savour such a chocolate heaven ;D)

Yep. There is always some buzzing of the crowd in the big malls. My husband can't stand it at all..I prefer going shopping in Leeds where you can wonder outside if you want.

I am feeling much better and Lindt have been consumed. And they don't have it in Norway - OH horror!! But I guess you have some nice local chocolate stores? ** dreams **

No, hardly any Lindt in the country. My significant other always makes fun of me when we are out travelling. "Everybody else" will bring home souvenirs and such, whereas I will bring home large amounts of chocolate! Hee.

But thankfully there are a few very good local chocolate stores - including one that makes its own chocolate. They have some dark chocolate bits filled with chocolate mousse and they are simply to die for! Sadly they are a bit expensive, so I only go there on special occasions. ;D

I am so behind with this! I am thinking all the time "How I managed to miss this??????". I followed "X-files" which was running during the same time but LFN fell off my radar.

But so much joy now!!!!!!!!!

YES. I love Michael's haircut in Season 3. He looks super cute. And don't you adore Nikita's spunky outfits? :) It makes me laugh sometimes wondering how she can fight and duel in high heels and such, LOL.
