Dorama update
May. 3rd, 2007 06:59 pmI have been watching quite few doramas recently, some of the currently aired ones and some of the older ones:
Anego I have finished Anego, I totally loved it. I liked the open ending and I liked the scene of Noda's proposal to Kurosawa. I adored him for his reaction to her proposal – he actually said that he is going to think for 5 years! I thought it was a proof of his feelings for her. I guess I was expecting him to say "No" immediately because I must say that 11 years of age difference is not something easy to overcome, for one thing he must have his own parents who will be very much against! His quite girly "I am going to think 5 years" came across like something very cute and something rather hopeful. But of course, Noda didn't have 5 years to think! She went and plunged into that horrid affair.. But by and by, the ending came as very hopeful to me.
Proposal Daisakusen I must be in a minority here and I am really sorry, but I didn't like it all that much. It wasn't bad for me and the main heroine Rei is very sweet but watching of the first episode required quite a bit of using "fast forward" button as it seems to be developing quite slowly.. I am also not a fan of this storyline – going into the past for 100 times in attempt to change something usually results in much repetition. But I am not giving up on it yet, I have only seen 1 episode I am going to see how this develops!!!
Liar GameI am really drawn to it. It has some lovely quality of originally, especially in it's cinematography. It seems to me that many Japanese dramas adopt quite uniform colouring of warm yellows and natural browns which I grown to like recently. But Liar game has a fiest of colous – pinks and reds and blues. And of course, "Liar Game" has a fast-moving interesting story and it also has Matsuda Shota as Shinichi. Just look at this post by

Hanayome to Papa I watched it from
winterspel's recommendation and it was an instantaneous love!! (Drama Wiki's info: Hanayome to Papa)
Let me tell it all in pictures:
The main herouine Aiko (Ishihara Satomi) is bright and cute as a button, she is just starting her work in designer industry and she is already rockin'! She wants to escape her father's tyranny and marry as soon as possible:

Her male colleague Miura Seiji (Taguchi Junnosuke) who seems to be already ready to marry her (and it is only episode 1!!) is cute too:

And her father Uzaki Kentaro (Tokito Saburo) is something!!!! He is over-protective and created all these crazy rules in their house, like "no opposite sex friendship", but in reality he loves Aiko to bits. Plus he is a great cook:

I love him when he sings because he sings really well!!!!

Father's lovely OTP:

And here is Aiko's boss Narumi Shunichi ! Hmm. I like him so much I seem to be getting into the wrong ship here. He is "an icicle who wants to melt" , by
dangermousie's categorization:

He is trying to hide a smirk because Aiko called him "inferior"!! This is a world-play: Miura Seiji's nickname in the office is "proud". This must sound similar to "inferior" in Japanese because Aiko mixed these two worlds..

He-he! And in return he is giving her some nasty remark on her dress style (which is terrible). But oh boy!! He should look at himself and his haircut first!!

Narumi Shunichi (Koizumi Koutaro) in the car, full of angst because (I think) he had very hard childhood and Aiko and her father's relationship reminded him about his own ever-absent father. ** snif **

OMPH!! Now he is full of thoughts because of Aiko's resignation letter:

Mawang I have been following this very faithfully, I find it very intriguing. This is definitely no your run-of-the-mill kdrama, it is rather quite intricately done supernatural crime story.

The roots of the story are in the past crime, in the death of the only brother of a very talented young lawyer, Oh Seung Ha (Jo Ji Hoon). This crime went somehow unpunished and in the present time an unknown killer is taking revenge on everyone involved in this past crime. A young and energetic policeman Kang Oh Soo (Uhm Tae Woong) is investigating the string of deaths connected together by the killer's signature. This signature is a tarot card that he sends to every victim. It is not clear yet, but Kang Oh Soo seems to be connected somehow to Oh Seung Ha's brother's death. During the cause of his investigation Kang Oh Soo asked for some help from a psychic, a beatiful yong woman Seo Hae In (played by Shin Min Ah). Seo Hae In is working in a library where she meets Oh Seung Ha by chance.
"Mawang" keeps me fully engaged and afraid to miss a word, everything seems to be connected and quite complex. This is quite unusual for kdramas, they are normally quite easy to watch.. Jo Ji Hoon is absolutely mesmerizing there and I also adore Kang Oh Soo (Uhm Tae Woong) because is so full of vivacity

Date: 2007-05-03 06:15 pm (UTC)I also love to see Shiraishi Miho who was in Sapuri and Orange Days - I think she's wonderful (she plays Narumi's second in charge).

Date: 2007-05-03 08:47 pm (UTC)Aiko's boss is Narumi Shunichi, Aiko's co-worker/possible love interest (played by Taguchi Junnosuke) is Miura Seiji, and Aiko's dad is Uzaki Kentaro. :)
Oh gosh, I was rushing to church and mixed then all up!! Thank you very much for the mentionig. Koizumi Koutaro who is playing Narumi Shunichi is apperently a son of Japanese Prime Minister. WOW!

I immediately noticed her, but I think she will not be a friend of Aiko in the future. And YES! After my enjoyment of "Anego" may be I should watch "Sapuri". (I hope it has a good ending :D)

Date: 2007-05-03 09:52 pm (UTC)My most favorite male character in Japanese drama is Kuriosagi (but I love every one of Takuya's characters).. As to female ones, it all goes to Shinohara Ryoko, her characters in "Unfair" and "Anego"..

Date: 2007-05-03 06:54 pm (UTC)But Liar Game? Absolutely adore it. And will be watching ep 3 as soon as I get off work.

Date: 2007-05-03 09:51 pm (UTC)How about " Hanayome to Papa"? Aiko's boss has huge potential for being very protective and he is a head taller then her. :D And so is Aiko's co-worker. I think this is all going to go the way that she will end up with co-worker, but still!
But Liar Game? Absolutely adore it. And will be watching ep 3 as soon as I get off work.
I am doing the same as soon as I drag myself from the Internet. Matsuda Shota! I am coming soon!! But ** pouts ** Where is the main role for Oguri Shun????????????????

Date: 2007-05-03 11:56 pm (UTC)And Shun? Coming soon we hope.
They will cast him as the main role in a Taiga and I will die of joy. *dream*

Date: 2007-05-04 12:16 am (UTC)Taiga? Like in Russian/Canadian coniferous forest? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiga) Is it a name of a genre? (Sorry, I am so backward!)

Date: 2007-05-03 09:56 pm (UTC)YAY! I am so glad it is not "just me" ** does happy dance**
..though it'll probably end in coworker/Aiko.. :/ Ah well. The father/dauther relationship is still the main point of this series, and I like it ^^
The way it looks on Drama Wiki she will marry co-worker, but there is always a hope. And I love father/daughter relationship there (he! My hidden parenting side!) I also find Papa VERY interesting (:):) and I wish that he opens his eyes and notices the café lady!!!

Date: 2007-05-04 08:28 am (UTC)Speaking of funny advertising, I don't remember any lollypops in the actual drama! The advertising makes me laugh sometimes - some things have good poster/trailers and some give some very wrong messages.

Date: 2007-05-05 03:46 pm (UTC)Waiting for the 6th episode subs to come out...FAST. Too many esoteric and legal terms to follow raw. D:

Date: 2007-05-06 10:54 am (UTC)That series is a pleasure for the eyes and ears.
I loe soundtrack. That song when Kang Oh Soo was so upset after the death of his friend and went to see Seo Hae In absolutely not realizing where he is going was so beautiful.

I can't wait, I can't understand a word of Korean (OK, may be some of the words I picked from kdramas. ;D)

Date: 2007-05-06 11:16 am (UTC)Aww, I'm really in love with ProDai. It was sort of love at first sight for me. It was pretty unexpected and i was moved at Ken's speech. I have big soft spot for unrequited love. I hope it will grow on you!! :D
I like Liar Game's cinematography as well. I think it's a nice short dorama to have. It's not one of my favorites of all the ones I'm watching but It's still fun to watch nonetheless.
Hanayome to Papa looks really cute and interesting. I really shouldn't add anymore doramas so I'll wait until it's finished. I hope you'll do a review of it at the end so I'll know of it's worth it or not. :P
I love the Manwang caps! Gah, it looks really gorgeous. Nothing like oogling at JJH. :D
