Mar. 20th, 2007 08:24 pmI have finished this Korean drama yesterday. I have to make a special drama category for this, "cute and funny" and make LGTTB an unmatched winner in this category..
I loved the story because it is set in one of my favourite places of all times - near the sea. I love love love the sea, my dream is to live near the warm sea.
Main characters, Jang Tae-pung and Yoon So-ra meet and start working together for the Life Guard team of one of the luxury sea-side Hotels. Adventures, heroic and laughs follow. Tae-pung's half brother Tae-hyun who is a manager of the Hotel also falls in love with So-ra. The story is paced nicely and brought me back so many memories of my own first love..
I loved both of the main characters :
Jang Tae-pung is one of the few drama heroes I would seriously consider marrying if I was his age and Yoon So-ra is so lovely. They have a wondeerful chemistry together. They make me feel just happy to watch them together, always having joking fights and battles.
Tae-pung (Lee Wan ) is very bright and gifted but a little unconfident in himself because he is a illegitimate son of his father and his mother left him when he was 8. But he always tries to put a brave (and cheeky) face on and just never gives up. And what makes me to like him the most is that he loves everyone and is never ever jelaous or bitter or anything like that. He loves his father who could have been less distant, his half-brother who is plain jelous (but very hot) and even his mother who left him so many years ago. Once he starts loving someone, he just does. He is one of the most loyal people.. But the best of the best things is that he is played by Lee Wan (read: Alexandra's gorgeous boy of the moment) and is othen seen in open-necked shirts of various and befitting colours. :D

Yoon So-ra (Lee Chung Ah) is a girl of strong personality. Sometimes I have problems with the "spirited girl" characters, they can be too spirited for my taste and swing into the category of shrewish. But Yoon So-ra feels just right. She feels like a girl I knew long time ago who is nice to have as a friend, who is fun to have around, who will stand for the truth and will look after you during your hard times. And I have to give it to her – She has A DREAM! She wants to become a dolphin trainer and here I get completely jealous because who would not like to be a dolphin trainer? I understand her love for the sea and the beach and the sea air so much!!!
Secondary characters Are easy on eyes, especially Tae-pung's brother Tae-hyun. I liked "evil girl" Joo-hee much less because she was always going around with the long face.. But there was not much of the screen time devoted to her.
The ending was lovely and happy even though there was a share of angst in the last 3 episodes due to the fact that at one time Tae-pung and So-ra thought thay are cousins. But it all ended well.

Date: 2007-03-20 09:05 pm (UTC)LGTTB is about finding yourself, about not giving u..
Oh, I guess now I finished LGTTB I can finish watching HYD2. :D And I hope your finals are going well!

Date: 2007-03-20 09:24 pm (UTC)That sounds great. Gah, you're teasing me a lot of all this. :P
I hope you'll enjoy the finale!! :) I really don't want to say goodbye to Hanadan but it's great that it ends well. I can't wait to see it tomorrow. :) I've only had one final so far and one more in couple of minutes. The first one was okay and I think my next one will be pretty horrible though. :/ Thank you!! :)

Date: 2007-03-20 10:13 pm (UTC)I often had a feel in LGTTB as if Tae Pung trying to hide his angst and his very vulnerable soul behind some sort of bravado. One minute he will start looking really hurt (usually after a conversation with his brother) but then he will put a brave face on and make a joke. But there was one scene (sceencaps in the in the middle where he sits on a floor and cries) that was heart-breaking..
I hope you'll enjoy the finale!! :) I really don't want to say goodbye to Hanadan but it's great that it ends well. I can't wait to see it tomorrow. :)
I will reserve my glee until you watch it. :D I also want to watch "Freeze" (I really liked "Damo". Have you watched "Damo"?).. And I want to finish "Unfair" (which is fabulous)
I've only had one final so far and one more in couple of minutes. The first one was okay and I think my next one will be pretty horrible though. :/ Thank you!! :)
Good luck!! You must be in a middle of it now! Fingers crossed and everything Though I think you are pretty awesome and IT MUST go well!
(Please tell me how did it go!!)

And I want to finish "Unfair" (which is fabulous) Aww, you don't have to reserve your glee. I'm almost completely spoiled by all the posts of reviews and icons. The icons were the worst. They should have hid those or something. I really don't know exactly what goes on but I have an idea hopefully won't ruin my viewing too much. I'll like to know what you think of "Freeze" it sounds interesting and slightly weird.I've been trying to download Damo! I got down half the series or so and the rest of the link are dead. :(
Thank you!! *hugs* It was really bad. It was just really hard and tricky. Just about half way I wanted to sit there and cry. He tends to curve the exams(since everyone tends to fail) and I hope the curve will save me. When I left there was still a lot of people working on it and hopefully that means they were struggling too. I'm trying to move on now and not stress about it now since it's over. :/ I still have one more tomorrow and I don't think that one would be too bad. Thank you so much for asking/remembering! **hugs**

Date: 2007-03-21 06:45 pm (UTC)How do you like it? I need a new drama with Takki desperately (oh, he is so pretty!) but I don't have time for something of average quality. Your tastes and mine seem to be quite similar..
start Kurosagi
Oh, Kurosagi is exceptionally good, seriously marvelous!!!
I've been trying to download Damo! I got down half the series or so and the rest of the link are dead. :(

Date: 2007-03-21 07:17 pm (UTC)EEEE!! I've always heard wonderful things about Kurosagi and I can't wait. I'm especially excited since the quality of the drama zip was especially good. :P I've been very spoiled with HD rips now, back then I watched most of my dramas on youtube. o_O
I wonder if the torrents for it will still work. I'll have to give them a try before I bother you. :) Thank you so much for your offer. I'll let you know if the torrents will work for me.
I hope so too. Thank you so much!! Yes, I'll be free in about 4 hours!! I can't wait for the drama marathoning!! EEEE!! Manwang day!! Oh, I'm so tempted to watch it raw. I'll be eagerly checking for the torrent. :)

E!! I am spoiled for life, I find it almost impossible to watch on youtube.. A little clip is fine, but a whole movie not..:D
I wonder if the torrents for it will still work. I'll have to give them a try before I bother you. :) Thank you so much for your offer. I'll let you know if the torrents will work for me.
I got it from torrents not long ago, I think it should still work. I like torrents, actually – I like the fact that often it is just one big batch file and you can leave it running.. No hustle with joining files.. Though Premium Megaupload works faster.

I hope it all went well. I am so exited about Manwang too. Though I hope that subtitles will appear soon..
I am of on holidays next week and plan to have big watch too! Amy be go through Karei-naru Ichizoku..Takyua is still the best for me.. !!

Date: 2007-03-23 07:50 am (UTC)I like torrents because of that too. Joining the files and stuff gets a bit messy. I still haven't got around to looking for Damo yet. I think I'll wait on it until I clear up space on my hard drive. I still want to get through all those dramas I downloaded with my account too.
My last final went very well. Thanks! :) It was actually the easiest of the three and I was out of there in 20 minutes. It was a nice way to end my finals. :) Last time i checked on the subtitles they only have translated 50% of it so I still think it would be a little while longer. :( I download the episode from clubbox (i'm so surprised I got it to work though it's very slow) but I'm not going to watch it raw. If you want to see it raw I could upload it for you. I don't think the torrent for it is up yet.
Yay! I'm glad you're on holidays next week also! :D Do you have any special plans? I just downloaded two episodes of Karnei Naru Ichizoku. I need to check out his older dramas first like Good Luck!! but I agree Kimura is still the best of them all. :D

Date: 2007-03-23 09:38 am (UTC)Oh, I am sorry! I do rush things through sometimes and comments get corrupted. My main worry is of course, if the ending in SoS is good. I am such a good-end junkie! It has to be something special like "The Snow Queen" for me to bare the bad ending.. :D
I still haven't got around to looking for Damo yet. I think I'll wait on it until I clear up space on my hard drive. I still want to get through all those dramas I downloaded with my account too.
Just let me know if you would like me to send you files (They will be already on DVDs :D)

I can't find my way around clubbox at all yet.. But I am sure it will appear on torrents soon. ** sigh ** I hope subtitles will be out soon too, though I am very tempted to watch raw!

My plans are – watch movies, drink tea and eat lots of cakes. :D I feel I need a rest, the recent period was quite hectic. I want to finish some of the dramas I am watching presently, like "Unfair" and "Nobuta wo Produce" (which I watched in "quick" mode but it is good and I want to watch it all the way through.. ) And of course, Karei Naru Ichizoku and Mawang..

I can't find my way around clubbox at all yet.. But I am sure it will appear on torrents soon. ** sigh ** I hope subtitles will be out soon too, though I am very tempted to watch raw! Clubbox is pretty horrible. When it does work it takes minimum of 3 hours but most the time it's an all day thing. Plus you could only download one episode at a time. I still haven't seen torrents for it yet. Let me know if you would like me to upload it on MU for you. I just checked and the sub translation still at 50%. I wish there was just a regular fan subing it like Hanadan. I actually previewed the first 10 minutes of The Devil. It looks really interesting and I understood some of the dialog but I just couldn't watch the rest without knowing what they are fully saying. It's very sad that the ratings for The Devil aren't very high. I'm really surprised.
Your plans sound wonderful!! I love all the things you've listed and I'm pretty much doing the same except I don't have any cakes. :P I'm glad you're getting your much needed rest. Is the house remodel all finished now? How is Unfair? I still need to watch Nobuta. Everyone seems to love that drama. I just started Kurosagi but I may start on Nobuta too. I was planning on marathoning one drama till finish but I think I like having multiple things to see at same time. Did you miss Hanadan this Friday? It was so strange not having it. I got kind of sad enough that I rewatched the ending. I hope you'll see the finale for it soon. :)

Date: 2007-03-24 12:06 pm (UTC)I agree completely. It could have been nice to have Bora magically cured or something, but because she saved TW the ending felt full of hope. Oh, SQ is so lovely!!!!!!
I'm still not so sure if you would enjoy SoS. It deals with some unrequited love, being
afraid to be your true self, growing up, dealing with loneliness and truly loving someone.
EEEEEEE! This all makes me watch SoS!!!!!!!!!!
There's a teacher/student love story in that I remember reading some where that makes you uncomfortable though that part isn't the main story.
Hmm. The problem I had with teacher/pupil story was specifically with "Majo no jouken". I didn't have a problem with Michi and Hikaru's feelings for each other, but the motherly side of me could not stomach that everyone in MnJ was saying "their love should to be allowed in the future".. I just can't imagine that there will be a time when sexual relationship between a teacher and a pupil will be accepted as a norm, and I would not like this to happen as a mother. It is difficult for me to explain: I find feelings between teacher and a pupil to be interesting, but I don't want to see sex between teacher and a pupil justified. (Hee, I can do with a little of it.. ;D) Sorry, I rant about this. I think this is my "motherly" side talking.. :D
What I wanted to say, I don't have a big problem with teacher/pupil stories, it was mostly how it al was played in MnJ.
Clubbox:When it does work it takes minimum of 3 hours but most the time it's an all day thing. Plus you could only download one episode at a time.
Hmm. I think I will watch until it appears on d-addicts or jdramas. It is so disappointing that subs are translated so slowly. Is it possible for you to let me know a link of the place for Mawang subtitles?

I think I'll have to wait for subtitles.. I am not surprised that Mawang doesn't have too good ratings – I was comparing ratings for different shows and it seems that happy stories always get better ratings then complicated and dark ones.. :D

How is Unfair? I still need to watch Nobuta. Everyone seems to love that drama.
Oh, it is really good. Really excellent quality drama! It doesn't make me obsessed the way dramas centered around romantic relationships do, but it is fabulous. Shinohara Ryoko is amazing.. I am even contemplating to watch "Anedo" even though none seems to like it..
The same happed for me with "Nobuta.." I think this drama is really standing out because of its fresh approach and originality, but it doesn't "grab" me as much as straightforward romance does. :D
I was planning on marathoning one drama till finish but I think I like having multiple things to see at same time. Did you miss Hanadan this Friday? It was so strange not having it.
I like having different things at the same time.. But I like to finish drama. Speaking of which I MUSt finish "Tree of Heaven"

It would be very strange for teacher/pupil relationship to be considered a norm. I find relationship between student and teacher to almost mirror a parent and child relationship actually. I can really see your standpoint on it. I think it really depends on the characters too. If its some really old professor and young student that's pretty disturbing. I guess all I'm saying is it depends for me? I really need to check out Forbidden Love though. :) You weren't ranting at all! I love to know your opinion on things! :)
Is it possible for you to let me know a link of the place for Mawang subtitles? Of course!! EEEE!! I have a new drama to run over to your blog about! :)
I was comparing ratings for different shows and it seems that happy stories always get better ratings then complicated and dark ones.. :D That's interesting! I think that really makes sense. I'm a fan of both types though. :D

I am even contemplating to watch "Anedo" even though none seems to like it.. I'll have to check out Unfair too then! Yeah, I haven't heard the best thing about Anedo either. Maybe there's a chance you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)-- I'm starting to notice that romance one's really grab me more too. I guess it's just i get more wrapped up in their emotions when it's straightforward romance.
I like to finish drama too. Even if it's horrible I'll finish it but now I think if it's really bad then I'll either probably drop it or use fast forward. How many episodes left do you have of Tree? *hands over tissue box* I think you may need it :)

Date: 2007-03-26 08:14 pm (UTC)I still have 1.5 episodes. ** sigh ** I also started watching "Snow White" with lee Wan and he is AMAZING there (By amazing I mean a lot of pining and piano playing), but I am less sure about lead girl. She is supposed to be a cute eccentric, but I am a little annoyed with her..
But LEE WAN is great there!!

Date: 2007-03-27 06:01 pm (UTC)Oh, I am on episode 8 now and it getting so fabulously good. You know, some dramas get worse but this is getting much better. The main girl is totally loveable now and in a way there is an explanation to why she was what she was. I am enjoying it greatly, even with the poor quality. And ansgty lee Wan in non-requited love!! Oh, so so good. I MUST post soon, but like with LGTTB I can't find any good pictures and my copy's quality is too poor to make screencaps.
I find I go thorough spurts where I watch dramas with ONE actor. :D

I gave away the wedding, and I have guardian angel on hold for someone.
But as I going through the collection. I found an extra never watched copy of Snow White: Tast Sweet Love. Yes, I have an extra copy of dvd. Yes extra dvd box set. So you won't have to download it. If you want it, It's yours. (this weekend I will check it to see how the subtitles are).

why did they do Young-hee hair with so pin curls. Talk about shirley Temple gone wild. The hair, I laughed when I first saw it.
Do they really sell barretes like that. The one she wears on the back of her head, that cartoony like girl. That thing is huge.

Date: 2007-03-24 11:39 am (UTC)Oh, I spoiled myself for the ending already. :D Sometimes when I watch "full of angst" dramas" I reach a point of saturation. :D

Is it the same as "1 percent of anything" , I watched it. It was lovely, but lagged somewhere in the middle. But Kang Dong Won is sooooooo cute there..
