Flushed away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dec. 16th, 2006 07:58 pmEEEEEEEEEEE! Flushed away! Sasha and I were going to watch "Happy Feet" with our friend, but she got ill with the cold , so we left "Happy Feet" until the time she is going to get better. Because we were already in the mood to see a movie, we wtched "Flushed away" instead. (if anyone can give a rec about "Happy Feet", I will appreciate this very much!)
Sasha I loved it!!!!!!!!
- Film is directed by David Bowers and Sam Fell, Aardman's studios. The story is about a up-town London house-pet rat Roddy who gets flushed into the sewage system through the toilet. Adventure ensures.
- Aardman's is my favourite animation studio now. I just love their style, the faces of the characters, they make me laugh even before they speak. This is their first fully-CGI feature, and it is fabulous. I love the traditional Aardman's style with the clay figures beyond measure, but apparently it was difficult to make it work because the film involves many scenes with water. Anyways, Aardman's do everything good, even CGI (take
me right, I am all "for" CGI, it just seems to be too much of it recently)!

- The main part of Aardman's appeal for me is their British humour; the dead-panness and dryness and surreality of British humour is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world.
- And one of the best things is that "Flushed away" shows the World Cup time again. And yes - English flags are everywhere, everyone is cheering and yes - "England Loses on Penalties". :D
- Voices. Hugh Jackman's voice is so British-accented, with rounded vowels and all. And Jean Reno is Le Frog!!!
- SINGING SLUGS. This is so off-the wall and crazily funny - the slugs who are gentle, who scream when scared and who like to sing Greek-chorus like a-capella.
Poor slugy things - they are so scareable!! (and this clip features Roddy too)
This clip is the slug's singing, though I could not find the a-capella clips. It is hilarious anyways.
Now I am going to watch "Battlestar galactica". Oh, what Kara/Lee were up to today?

Date: 2006-12-16 09:30 pm (UTC)I do love animated films. There is this extra sense of wonder in them, maybe because if they can draw it, they can film it. ;)
And I totally agree with you in regards to British humour. The dead-panness owns me. *g*

Date: 2006-12-17 12:17 pm (UTC)Like there is no limits to the fantasy of creators!! I love how effortless animations look, but sometimes it takes long time and much hard work to create them, like "Wallace and Gromit". (I love "Wallace and Gromit", can't you tell?)

And huge "thumbs up" to Hugh Jackman who does the humour and the accent so fabulously , being an Australian himself.

Date: 2006-12-16 09:51 pm (UTC)The movie just got a lot more interesting. ;D
If you want to re-watch some more scenes, you can download boatloads of (official) clips in all shapes and sizes here (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=6000).
I haven't seen Happy Feet myself. All the teasers and trailers were absolutely adorable, but from what I've heard the movie is in parts more serious and has a message (some say it's even a bit preachy).

Date: 2006-12-17 11:52 am (UTC)I adore Hugh Jackman. He's so talented! He does a great British accent (I also loved him in Kate & Leopold) and it's so interesting when you hear him speaking in his native Australian accent ^__^
