Cats!!!! and Films!!!!!!!
May. 9th, 2006 07:00 pmCats and all such things
This was a very eventful weekend:
Huzzah! Mr. Alexander is my darling love. He has gotten me a KITTEN!!!!!! Lovely playful 8 weeks old, taby white, totally gorgeous. Sasha named him BART (like Bart Simpson). I am totally full of love for him. He has blue eyes. And he has this wild dash time when he runs around like mad. And he is not afraid of Sky-the dog. And he likes to sit on my lap while I am on computer and catch posts scrolling by. AAAWWWW! I am so happy!
I watched “Earth” “Fire”. I am in love with “Earth”; from the beginning until the end it squeezed my heart and would not let it go. As tragic as the theme was, exploring the lives of few friends from the different religion groups during the Pakistan/India divide, it didn’t leave me with feeling of helplessness before the forces of political powers, but rather made me believe again that it is up to us as people to choose how we personally behave during the time of testing. I adored the main heroine Shanta (Nandita Das) and Hassan (Rahul Khanna).
I liked “Fire” very much too, but I found it very hard to watch a day-to-day routine of the Indian women where their life is just to cook, raise children and look after their husbands. I know for definite I would not survive a life like that. Never.
I have watched “Statsky Sovetnik”, or “Counselor of State” with Oleg Menshikov. This is an adaptation of the novel by Boris Akunin, very popular recent Russian crime writer. I liked this film for it’s nostalgic value (I get really home-sick some days) and because it has 4 of the best Russian actors in one place!!!!!! ( But with the facial hair). I missed elegant and old-fashioned prose of the original book. I included some screencaps from this film, non-spoilery. It is a crime story set in 19-th century.
Konstantin Khabensky – the star of "Night Watch", Green-the-freedom-fighter in "Counselor of State". Yum!!!

Nikita Mikhalkov – he is better known as a brilliant Russian director of "Burned by the Sun". He is an amazing actor too. He likes wearing moustache even in RL. He plays Prince Pozharsky of police department

Vladimir MAshkov He played Rogozin in "Idiot". Very intense. He plays the crime element Kozyr in "Counselor of State"

Oleg Menshikov - I love him, he plays the main hero Erast Fandorin. He is THE BEST! But why mascara?????

Some snowy images of Russia and Moscow.. AWWWWWWW!

Date: 2006-05-11 02:19 am (UTC)Kip is technically my daughter's cat. I got him from a friend of my Mother's whose cat had a litter. He was a birthday present. He is probably the coolest cat we've ever had.
Yes, that's him in the icon when he was a kitten. :)

Date: 2006-05-10 02:07 am (UTC)You must take a picture of Bart for us.
I haven’t heard of the book. I love crime stories and am always looking for new things to read (even though I doubt I will ever get to read all the books on my to-read-list). The movie sound interesting, I’ll see if I can find it here.
