Apr. 21st, 2006 11:27 amThis is a stealth post. I am really supposed to be getting ready for the Presentation, but I have finished “A Storm of Swords” and started "A Feast for Crows", and :
** Below are just my wild guesses because I need to get rid of uncertainty
1. On the secondary character front, I found Oberyn Martell very very interesting. Did he mean to die in the fight with Ser Gregor? Because he wanted to start a trouble between Dorne and Lannisters to avenge his sister?
2. What happened to Ser Gregor? Please, please, please someone, SPOIL ME!
3. Longer I think about it, I believe that Tyrion will get stronger through the murder of his father. Now he severed his connections with his father, the man he was always craving an approval from!! He will have to endure terrible turmoil inside, but I believe that Tyrion will be the head of the House of Lannister one day. Also GRRM can't kill everybody, can he?
4. And I think Tyrion and Sansa are going to end up happy together. As much as I LOVE Sandor and clearly see that Sansa has feelings for him, Sandor is going to die.
5. Sandor is going to die in a fight with his brother. I guess up to date Sandor was the only one who didn’t lie to Sansa. And I am starting to like Sansa very much. And I am trying not to get too attached to Sandor because he is going to die, if he is not a zombie already.
6. No, Jaime is not going to DIE! He is going to be a Lord Commander. And Brienne is going to be one of the Kingsguard. There will be a beautiful platonic love between them forever :)
7. Queen of Thorns? I thought it was brilliant that she was the one to kill Joffrey!!
8. Cersei was in love with Rhaegar?? Of all people!!
9. I am wholly embraced Lord Davos love. It was so important that somebody went to the Wall. Davos is awesome!

Date: 2006-04-21 06:25 pm (UTC)I recently finished ASoS too, but I'm waiting until September for the paperback release of AFFC so I can have a matched set... but damn the wait is KILLING me!
I don't think Oberyn Martell intended to die. He just got caught up in the blood lust of what looked like a sure kill and got careless. The spear was a genius choice of weapon, but he should have stayed out of arms' reach until the deed was done.
I love Tyrion! I hope he finds his first wife because I think she did love him. It's pretty amazing that he's turned out to be my favorite in this series because I'm usually such a fangirl who favors the handsome heroes.
I don't think Brienne would take the white while Cersei controls whoever is on the throne. Perhaps if Jaime swears allegience to another king... ?
I love the Onion Knight too. He's one of very few honorable souls left in the Seven Kingdoms.

I don't know what to think, sometimes I think as you, also Oberyn Martell wanted Ser Gregor to confess that he murdered Elia, and that of course made this fight more difficult for Oberyn.
But then I think that Oberyn mentioned to Tyrion that he wants to take revenge on the "hand" (meaning Lannisters), and not only on the instrument in this hand (Ser Gregor). But again, Lord Tywin didn't really mean for Gregor to murder Elia and children, if anything they were valuable hostages. Tywin just forgot to give Ser Gregor specific instructions.
Anyway, I loved the fight between Ser Gregor and Red Viper. I love moments when somebody manages to stand his own against Ser Gregor.

This is just so much the same for me!! And now when you said it, I think it is a very good chance that Tyrion's first wife will be found. It even could be somebody who we already know.. I am dying to know more of her story. I think it will be totally unfair if Tyrion doesn't find somebody who loves him.

I think Jaime will be helping Dany when she finally reaches Westros. So that the circle can be fulfilled and he could become Kingmaker instead of Kingslayer , so that Aerys's blood can be washed off his hands. He paid for what he has done to Bran by loosing his hand , but he must do something to wash king's blood off.
And with Brienne it is just my wild guess, I just don't see her and Jaime together in any conventional way. Jaime seems to be set on being Lord Commander as well!

Date: 2006-05-21 09:23 pm (UTC)I try not to speculate too hard on what's going to happen to the characters, because I don't want to get attached to my hopes and dreams, though I can't stop myself from thinking about who's likely to live or die. I think - thought it may indeed be wishful thinking - that Tyrion will live, and the truth is that he'd make an excellent Hand. He'd also make a good Commander of the Wall, now that I think about it. Of course, there may no longer be a need for the wall when all is said and done.
Interesting thought about his first wife. I guess I think she's a key part of his history and that's why we heard about her, but I don't think of her as a loose end that's going to have to get tied up. I think we know everything we need to, and his story couldn't have been told without her, but it seems complete to me as-is, so I guess I don't feel she's a gun waiting to be fired. But I guess we'll see - somewhere in the next three books and 27 years. *g*

Date: 2006-04-24 07:05 pm (UTC)I don't want him to die. But I must say that he himself chosen one and only purpose in life - to kill his brother. And I have a very bad feeling that whoever kills Ser Gregor will have to pay for it with his life. I hope I am wrong and that like so many times before Martin will write something very different!! I hope so much!
