I have been recommended this video by my daughter - they showed this to them at her school, apparently. The video ( Potter Puppet Pals: The Mysterious Ticking Noise ) is hilarious, but I do wonder: what are they teaching the kids at school nowdays?

Also: this is probably the catchiest video in the Universe

Oh God, I WILL HAVE THIS THING STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR DAYS!!! I hate you. ;) I've first seen this thing quite a long time ago, and it drove me mad for days. I don't even like HP, and I still found myself randomly humming "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape - Dumbledore!" at the most inappropriate moments.

** laughs ** I didn't want to be alone, you see. :D

Gosh, you are my brain twin - I also don't particular like HP. I mean - it is fine, and the cultural impact is great, but I am not impressed.

I started reading one of the books because all my friends loved it, but I thought the writing was fairly mediocre. And the whole plot set-up just bores me to death. Kids in a wizard school? Really? Not my cup of tea.

I'm just playing around with a name for the fanfic exchange community. I'll send you a PM in a few, once I've found something. ;)

The same for me - I have read through HP books because my daughter wanted all the answers and I wanted to know what the fuss was all about, but yes, nothing really to write home about.

YAY! To exchange comm!

one of my flist introduced me to these videos and i must say, this one is my favorite! she also introduced me to a very potter sequel and as my icon would suggest, i sorta lost my mind.

*snape, snape, severus snape. dumbledore.*

God, why did you post it? Took me forever to get it out of my head when I watched it the first time!

Maybe the teachers were teaching about pop culture?

Right. Preserving our sanity perhaps? Or trying to destroy it? XD

Well, that's interesting. When I was in middle school -in the 90s- our school was soooo advanced (hear my sarcasm!) that we'd sometimes go to the computer lab and worked on Wordstar. The DOS version. XD

I have seen this mentioned everywhere, but the fact remains - the kids that were born after mobile devices and social networks appeared have a totally different approach to it all, they don't even seem to see any margins between computer-assisted social interaction and "real" one. A bit scary to watch, this is, but schools seem to have adapted quite well.

Hee! I already had the song in my head before I pressed play. NOW I AM GOING TO WATCH IT AGAIN TEN TIMES XD

Firstly, I can't believe it's been four years since I first saw that, and secondly, wow, schools have access to all sorta of entertaining, strange, could be educational, could be detrimental, things on youtube to show kids! How weird to have that be part of the teaching landscape O_o

I love this video. Partly because it's so catchy (Dumbledore!), but mostly because the boys love watching the video and laugh along with it. We reenact it all the time around here. I'm usually Hermione.

My daughter keeps singing it as well. She loves Dumbledore part the best, and the Voldermort-Voldermort-Voldermort. I think she would have joined in. :D
