A new stylish Norwegian thriller is out this summer, and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau is playing one of the main parts (thank you to [livejournal.com profile] trailer_spot for the information). IMDB doesn't say too much about the film, only that it is a story of "an accomplished headhunter risks everything to obtain a valuable painting owned by a former mercenary". But I have a special place in my heart for Norwegian trillers ("Insomnia" was great) and another special place for Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, so I have collected some film-related photographs:

Edit: From [livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi: a link to the trailer of the film without subs is here. Nikolaj features first around the 00:49 mark.

Hi, I feel weird posting this since I haven’t commented around here before, but here (http://www.filmweb.no/kino/article234775.ece?show=trailer) is a link to the trailer of the film (without subtitles I’m afraid). Nikolaj features first around the 00:49 mark and is seen throughout the rest of the trailer.

The film is based on the book Hodejegerne (headhunters) by Jo Nesbø, who’s one of Norway’s best-selling crime writers. Nikolaj plays Claes Greve who is the nemesis of the main character, Roger. His character has a background as an elite-soldier who owns a valuable painting that Roger wants to get his hands on. Trouble ensues.

You are very very welcome commenting here!!, especially with so much important information! THANK YOU!

Is Nikolaj playing a good guy or a bad guy? It sound like he is the bad guy, which will be particular nice - he is doing so great playing the controversial character of Jaime Lannister.

I haven’t actually read the book (though I can see it in my book shelf from where I’m sitting), but if I were to guess I would say he’s a shady character for sure. He appears to be very capable of handling himself. After some more digging this is what I know: Roger works as a head-hunter, but on the side he steals valuable art from his own candidates so that he will be able to continue his wonderful life with his beautiful wife who leads an expensive life. Claes seems like the perfect candidate for a new job as a director for a great company, and during the interview Roger learns that he owns an expensive painting. Getting into the house is no problem, stealing the painting is no problem, but on his way out of the house he finds something that turns everything on its head and he is soon the one being hunted, and not peacefully with a interview that he is used to.

Nikolaj does amazingly well playing Jamie Lannister; I can’t wait till season two and I’m looking forward to start reading the books this summer as well.

Thank you so much! This sounds very interesting and I heard it on the Grapevine that the film is good (please see the comments below).

The books are even better than the TV show (more characters, more other good things, more direwolves!).

Oooooh, I love Jo Nesboe's mysteries :D If Nicolaj would ever play Harry Hoele, I would be in heaven. (I'm so sorry, I don't know how to do the o with the slash through it!)

I have yet to read all the books about Harry Hole, but I’ve loved the ones I’ve read, and I probably have a not so small a crush on Harry. It is great story-telling and Jo Nesbø really is master writer. Don’t worry I wouldn’t know how to make Nordic letters without a Nordic keyboard. ;)

Oh, I've got to finish the one Nesbos book I have on hand so I can pick up the next from our library. That is some fine manliness in those pictures!

Hey, here's an English synopsis of the story (http://jonesbo.com/#!/books/headhunters). Nikolaj is playing Claes Greve (a Dutchman, I guess to account for his odd Norwegian accent?) That trailer, OMG!

I'm saddened by the fact that there's already a US remake in the works. *rolls eyes* They are NEVER as good as the originals. Thank god no one ever actually DID remake "The Lives of Others."

Thank you!!! I think I like the Dutch accent.

A remake is to be expected. ** rolls eyes as well ** I hope they have the decency to have Nikolaj in the film. :P

From what I've heard they are planning on giving the film international distribution, which in this case means the UK, US and Germany, so there might be a chance of it appearing in a tiny cinema near you. ;)

I guess to account for his odd Norwegian accent?

Maybe, but most Norwegian films have at least one other Scandinavian actor- Swede or a Dane - and they usually just let them talk a in their native tongue without further explanation. It's a bit "we're all Scandinavians here - who cares about the languages being a bit different." *g*

Hee! Just today I was at a meeting about Norwegian films where they talked about this one. Word of mouth says that it is good.

This film looks very interesting and by a look on the imdb page of it, I see that it will have a theatrical release in Finland. Yay! :D

Heh, I could even understand some of what was being said in the trailer having learned Swedish in school.

I wish I could! I really want to learn some other languages, but I don't think learning new languages quickly is my strong suit.
