It is almost Sunday 22nd where I live, the time to post the results of the "Your favourite Game of Thrones character" poll.

Sub-poll 1: The character(s) you love the most?

Three top characters (in terms of loving) are really REALLY close. It seems that Arya, Tyrion and Jon receive almost equal amounts of love, but it also seems that many other characters are loved as well. Personally, I am so glad that Jory Cassel, Benjen Stark and the Direwolves received a vote! And Bronn!

Character Place Number of votes
Arya Stark 1 77
Tyrion Lannister (The Imp) 2 75
Jon Snow 3 71
Daenerys Targaryen (Daenerys Stormborn) 4 47
Jaime Lannister (the Kingslayer) 5 28
Eddard (Ned) Stark 6 23

Myrcella Baratheon 13 1
Samwell (Sam) Tarly 13 1
The direwolves 13 1
Bronn and the direwolves 13 1

Sub-poll 2: Character you love to hate

It seems that Cersei is the most hated character of them all, she received much more votes than the other top two (Joffrey and Viserys). I have been worrying about the softening of Cersei's character in she show, may be I shouldn't worry.

Among other interesting results: Jaime Lannister receives as much hate as he receives love. Yep, you have to give it to Jaime: you either hate him or love him, nothing in between.

The most surprising for me personally result is how many "love to hate" votes Catelyn Tully have received. If any of the voters don't mind to answer - why do you love to hate Catelyn? I am just curious. I would love to have an answer!

Character Place Number of votes
Cersei Lannister 1 59
Joffrey Baratheon 2 34
Viserys Targaryen (the Beggar King) 3 31
Ser Jaime Lannister (the Kingslayer) 4 29

Catelyn Tully 6 12
Robert Baratheon 6 12
Sansa Stark 7 9
Lord Varys (the Spider) 8 6
Theon Greyjoy 8 6
Tyrion Lannister (the Imp) 9 5
Sandor Clegane (the Hound) 9 5
Lysa Tully 10 4
Gregor Clegane (the Mountain) 11 3
Walder frey 12 2
Melisandre 12 2

Any Lannisters 13 1
Ser Jorah Mormont 13 1
Roose Bolton 13 1
Jon Snow 13 1

PS Me? Still obsessed. Sadly, I have lended my copy of the first book in an attempt to push the show to my co-workers. I might just re-read "A Feast for crows" , I seem to remember the events of this book not as well as the events of the other three.

Spoilers: possible vague book spoilers

I'll be very interested, too, in seeing why people hate Catelyn so much. It's definitely a widespread feeling, and I don't get it at all. Yes, she's cold to Jon at best and sometimes very ddefinitely mean, but is it really that hard to understand why? She's incredibly protective of her own children, and tries very hard to do right by them. I think she's a model of control when she finds out Robb married so stupudly. She's not perfect, but I understand her flaws and I find them forgivable. Clearly other people don't, or just see her totally differently, and I really am curious as to how and why.

I confess, I didn't like her character at all in the books. I think I value intelligence more than many other traits and her (and Robb's) mistakes really bothered me. Like in Tyrion's case - it is a no-brainer that someone will not give their own (very distinctive) dagger to a hired killer. IF she just went home from King's Landing (or stayed and made Ned come back)!

But I have changed my mind completely in the show, Michelle Fairley shows really well where Cat's decisions come from, shows her love for her kids and Ned. She is so awesome I keep thinking "Why would someone hate her? Why?"

I had a change of heart when it comes to Cat so I do understand people disliking her... but hating? Not when you have so many terrible characters in this books. It doesn't make sense at all imo :o.

I think mostly these are the show/first book impressions. We haven't even "met" Lord Tywin in the show, but still - I am surprised.

I don't love to hate Catelyn, I just hate her. Well, that's a bit too harsh, let's just say I don't like her. I don't know why. But I've got to say, she (like Cersei) is a much more sympathetic character in the series. I actually like her portrayal. I wonder if it's because she's played by someone older than I imagined from reading the books. I really like what that actress and her expressive face.

I guess I was the same with the book Catelyn. I didn't hate her, but was often annoyed with her. I don't think she is fleshed out too well, like with bran's fall I rememebr the narrative going @oh, a bad mother, so sad about Bran she doesn't look after Rickon properly"..

But in the show - I like her for the first time. She was so heart-broken after Bran's fall I was crying buckets!!! It also somehow made much more sense in the show for her to arrest Tyrion - it came across as one of those "opportune" moments.

As with Cersei, I do not like her portrayal in the show. I want my power bitch Cersei who is not happy with the restrictions on her sex back. I am also worrying for Brienne's fate - what if the show's creators know some spoilers? What if Jaime goes back to Cersei? (You are lucky because you know the spoilers :D)
