Supernatural season 5 : the end

I am fully back with "Supernatural" love because the season 5 was quite good. Both my daughter and I watched it with interest (and isn't it great to have someone to watch things with me - we seem to have similar tastes!!!) . To be honest, the ending of the season was quite week and very anti-climatic, but there were plenty of good episodes in the season. The best episodes for me were the ones with the Four Horsemen, and the episode 5.21, the one with Death, Pale Rider, is most definitely one of the strongest episodes of the entire series.
Death gives Dean his ring, he is not keen on Lucifer and wants him back in the cage.

This episode included one of my most favourite blue grass songs, "O Death", in a fantastic interpretation:
1. This is the actual scene that used the song (episode 5.21) from Youtube, for some reason unembeddable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1EzU9sLQ6I&feature=related
2. "Oh Death" sang by Jen Titus:
3. "Oh Death" sand by Ralph Stanley, which won him a 2002 Grammy Award in the category of Best Male Country Vocal Performance. He was 82 back then.

Date: 2010-09-07 06:43 pm (UTC)But maybe I'll watch season 5, since I heard both Jo and Elle will be there for a couple of episodes and since I heard so many good things about this season in particular. Is it possible to just skip 3 and 4 and go directly to season 5?

Date: 2010-09-07 07:51 pm (UTC)I think you can jump ahead. I can spoil you on the main things you need to know before season 5, but in a way it is all spoiled in the trailer - THE END OF THE WORLD.
Yes, the ladies make an appearance. And Dean's son and his mother too.

Is the trailer 4 minutes and some seconds long? Because this one got removed from YT.

Date: 2010-09-19 09:20 pm (UTC)In short:
1. After Sam was mortally wounded, Dean sold his soul to a deamon at the crossroads.
2. For a year they tried to find a way for Dean not to go to Hell, but couldn't .
3. Dean went to Hell
4. Castiel-the-Angel pulled Dean out of Hell, only angels can do this.
5. Because Dean is a key figure in a war between angels and demons. He is a "vessel" for Archangel Michael and Sam is a "vessel" for Lucifer.
6. Lucifer was trying to get out of the pit. For this, demons had to break 66 seals.
7. The last an the biggest seal was an old deamon named Lily. Everyone thought Lily had to be killed to stop the last seal from breaking.
8. Whilst Dean was in Hell, Sam was tricked by a deamon called Ruby. In order to become strong and kill Lily (so that Lucifer can't get out), Sam started drinking demon blood. But Ruby lied to him, and when Sam killed Lily at the end of the season 4, it was revealed that Lily was the last seal , but she had to be kept alive!
9. So, at the end of the season 4 Lucifer got out and the Apocalypse started. Angels against demons. Lucifer is mad , he hates humans. But some angels hate humas too, and like the idea of Apocalypse and getting rid of humans. God is nowhere to be seen, he gave eveyone "free will" thing, I think.

Date: 2010-09-04 04:53 pm (UTC)yes, i thought that it all would have been much better if it all finished at the end of the season 5 (as was planned).
but also, i thought the whole last episode was largely unimpressive , even the hole that Sam fell into was on the ridiculous side,. Plus the chain of the final events was totally predictable and I waited for something else to happen. But still, overall the season 5 is probably my favourite season of SPN.

Date: 2010-09-04 05:00 pm (UTC)We'll see about that when s6 starts. I liked s1, mostly because it was all about Sam and Dean and their travels. Don't get me wrong, I loved Cas and the angels/demons storyarc wasn't uninsteresting, but somewhere along the way the relationship between the brothers took a sappy turn? IDEK what I'm saying.
yeah, word. Same thing happened with Gabriel. I was like, what? what? Is that it? I was waiting for a big smackdown between angels and demons and Sam and Dean and all that...fizzled out like that. Meep!
