EEEEEEEEE! We have got a new big HD TV set, lots of new HD channels (upgraded our network package) and all we have been doing today is watching it, checking new channels and loving it. The World Cup - we are ready!!!!
The most useful feature - it also has an USB port where you can connect your USB drives and it can play DivX. EEEEEE! Fringe on my new TV! I haven't figured out if soft subtitles will work , though, I hope I can find a way to make them work and watch Kdramas on my new BiG Screen.
Edit: I have tried, and subtitles just work naturally! I am so happy!

Date: 2010-05-19 08:45 pm (UTC)I have a dvd player with a usb port and it plays soft subs perfectly. Needless to say it's awesome watching tv shows on the (relatively) big screen. *gg*
Besides that it is much more comfortable sitting on a couch than sitting on a chair. I think my roommates think I'm crazy since everything I watched since I moved in was in a foreign tongue, either Korean, Chinese, Japanese or English.

Date: 2010-05-27 09:40 am (UTC)I'm afraid that will be the case for me too. :) A friend a while ago bought a BluRay DVD player. I'm looking forward to find out how that looks like the next time I visit him.
Yes, I believe Japan introduced HD ages ago. And by now it's very commoon in the US. Only Europe is totally behind. And here in Germany you have BBC-like state TV, free TV, payTV, delivered by cable, satellite and terrestrial and for everything you need different equipment and the systems are still evolving. As I said, it's a big mess.
How do regular DVDs now look like on your new TV? Still okay?

Date: 2010-05-27 09:46 am (UTC)Yes, this looks good. Even downloaded divX looks good, but the majority of stuff I download (Korean dramas) is all ripped from HD TV channels and have quite decent resolution anyways.
Hee! You remind me - I saw some of the old episodes of "life" yesterday in HD and this was glorious. mr.Alexander has taken to watching "Life".
