Episode 21 seem to be all about male bonding:

Things I liked about the episode:
- Un Nyun being quite uncomfortable at DG's staring, in a serious way
- Tae Ha noticing it and instead of saying anything to UN (like all the silly guys usually do) staring right back at Dae Gil
- Dae Gil being sad and comparing Un Nyun to the Moon
- Tae Ha being stuck up as a pole during the feast but persevering
- Tae Ha being very sad upon leaving Un Nyun
- Un Nyun reading the late prince's letter to the Little Prince
But the main thing: De Gil and Tae Ha have bonded. I liked their exchange at the Mountain when Dae Gil said something and Tae Ha smiled back. It was cute.

Also, Tae Ha totally grabbed Dae Gil by the arm:

To complete the bond, first the Awesome non-betrayer guy had to die, making me very very sad. When Tae Ha found the body he had a complete break down - I have never seen Tae Ha like that, he is usually very reserved, do-not-show-any-emotion kind of guy, but he went absolutely heart-broken and empty-eyed, standing on his knees, crying, hugging the Awesome non-betrayer (but still not killing any of the guards, just slapping them with the Sword) and in short – if you writers kill my Tae Ha after this I will hunt you down. If Dae Gil wasn't there to watch Tae Ha's back , it all could have become very very dangerous. But Dae Gil was there, and he even tried to pat TH on his back which was the most awesomest scene of ever. Dae Gil didn't touch TH, instead he said something silly, but he had a tear in his eye!
After that Dae Gil helped Tae Ha to hide/bury his friend and also explained to him that scholar Jo is THE BETRAYER and also some other things. In unconnected, Dae Gil continues to call Tae Ha slave-yangban to which address Tae Ha responds. Kill the Pride, Tae Ha, kill it. I cheered here because as soon as Tae Ha believed Dae Gil's words, he stopped being all heart-broken and became "I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN" and this how I like him. And then they had some scenes of Dae Gil and Tae Ha galloping on horses , with TH waving that sword of his and CW pursuing them and shouting "Tae Ha is miiiiiiiiine!".

Tae Ha is miiiiiiiiine!

Date: 2010-03-18 01:27 am (UTC)I just love da boys, that's an awesome duo. I'd be jealous too if I was CW. XD
*Yawn* I should have gone to bed ages ago but I made the mistake of starting the last few episodes of Still Marry Me and whoops, I watched it till the end. Guess I was in the mood for some lovey dovey and that fit the bill. Off to bed now....

Date: 2010-03-18 09:36 am (UTC)CW was all calm and composed when he was scouting the Montain, but as soon as he saw a glimpse of TH - he lost it. I am beginning to think that the writers will really have him die in TH's arms.
Love "Still marry me" - I have slowed down a bit (there was a break in the subs) with watching Chuno and "Family Honour" (which I love even more now with proper subs).

Date: 2010-03-18 09:54 am (UTC)as dangermousie said, i think i will be shipping TH/DG from now now. forget about TH/UN or DG/UN. i just can't have enough of them tegether. of course not in a pereverted way but i really all these male bonding that is happening between them. fighting side by side, looking after eachother to get hurt.
and YESSSS, never seen TH like this throughout the drama. not even when he was his wife/baby dead. he totally forgot about what is going on around him, he even threw his sword away. but to be honest, i thought that it was little out of TH charcater to do so. only a little. but i really loved the writer is adding more human characters to TH personality. it's making him more real and that's what making me more and more in wanting him to be alive at the end.
pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase don't kill my TH. pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!
and i also loving DG more and more with each ep. but TH is still my favourite and i think it will stay like this till end.
oh, i am in my mid 30 (but not married) and LOVE TH. i guess those findings about which group of people fall more for TH or DG is not that accurate.

You know, this I think what appeals to me so much in the story too – and I could see it coming from the beginning. The last TV show I was so obsessed with was "Rome" which is really all about friendship between two awesome men, Pullo and Vorenus.

I didn't think it was out of his character at all. If you think of it, HS was his best friend (I bet here is some of the reasons for CW's resentment) and the last thing that connected TH with his former life. I imagine TH feeling so alone at that moment! And also he must have been feeling so hopeless for not being able to save HS (because TH seem to have a big thing about saving people) . Also, although TH is a very very stable individual, the amounts of losses he had over the years is incredible (TH family, The late Prince and his family, his master, his guys, etc.) . I think it must be getting harder and harder with each loss. And nothing nothing of his former life is left, nothing.
but i really loved the writer is adding more human characters to TH personality. it's making him more real and that's what making me more and more in wanting him to be alive at the end. pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase don't kill my TH. pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!
** Joins you at this plea **

yes, I am really back on the bandwagon with the DG love. he back to his street-smart, cheeky self and I love him.

You must post this on soompi – I liked the demographical spread of UN/DG and TH/UN shippers.I love factual things like this.

Date: 2010-03-18 12:01 pm (UTC)I really love stories about friendship, be they with males, females or the mixed bag. I just love 'buddy stories'. My all time favourite show is still Band of Brothers (yeah, I was totally obsessed) which is basically about male bonding in extreme circumstances.

Have you ever tried to watch "Rome"? I know quite few fans of "Band of Brothers" who also love "Rome" - the story is set in the times of Julius Caesar but it really is all about Pullo and Vorenus.

Date: 2010-03-19 10:23 am (UTC)Btw, talking about Rome... have you read 'Rubicon' by Tom Holland? It tells the story of Roman Republic from the early days till Augustus' death. A really well written book, I love his writing style. It reads almost like a novel though it's non-fiction.

Date: 2010-03-19 10:27 am (UTC)Yes, fabulous queenofthorns sent me "Rusbicon" as a present - I loved it.
And back to Chuno - TH and DG really do remind me of Pullo and Vorenus, they also started as enemies and plus Vorenus is a type of idealist like TH and Pullo is irreverent casuistic tongue like Dg (well, apart from the whole love triangle issue - but I could do away with DG/UN/TH any day)

Date: 2010-03-23 08:46 pm (UTC)It's beause of all those small scenes I love the series so much, things that don't add anything to the plot, but are so important for the characters. This scene tells a million things about Dae-gil and how he changed which is all kinds of awesome and makes me love him more and more (even if he's such a jerk when he's with Seol-hwa).
I'm glad they waited so long with letting Dae-gil and Tae-ha travel together and it works so well.
But how could they kill off Hanseom? :( I mean....seriously!!! He had a very special place amongst my favourite characters, so sad that he's gone. :(

I am so so sad too. I am sure they did it to make TH bond with DG a bit better and to have that awesome scene of TH's breakdown , but yes - I am sad sad sad.

Date: 2010-03-24 07:39 pm (UTC)At least he didn't die in vain, although this scene with the court lady was one hell of a cheesy vision. I forgive them doing it like this because Hanseom is all kinds of awesome, but it really felt out of place.

Date: 2010-03-24 09:37 pm (UTC)from what I can gather, the "afterlife" scenes are really really popular with Korean public, as well as "they died together and met in afterlife", is in - serious way. Why - my mind boggles.
